Back in 2016, I’d read and reviewed Deanna Cabinian’s first in this series, One Night. It was a rom-com set in Hawaii, where the brilliantly named teenager, Thompson Lake, tries to reunite with his ex-girlfriend Caroline and accidently becomes an Elvis impersonator’s roadie, forming a brotherly bond with the aforementioned Elvis tribute, Johnny. The novel culminates in Thompson and Johnny’s adventure to Chicago in a somewhat heroic attempt to men

If I was to summarise this book in one word it would unfortunately have to be: disappointing.

There was so much I disliked about it and so little I enjoyed, but I shall start with the positive.

—> The descriptions of Italy and the trip the boys took was probably the best bit of the whole novel. I love Italy and really enjoyed the way the author was able to tap into the unique sounds of the streets.

Unfortunately that’s probably the only positive thing I have to say, so buckle up:

Earlier this year I read and, more importantly, LOVED Deanna Cabinian's debut novel One Night. Therefore, when I caught wind that Deanna was releasing a follow-up to One Night focusing on Thompson's freshman year at college, I was beyond excited! I couldn't wait to catch-up with the whole gang.

The result? There's no sophomore slump to be found here! Charming, pitch perfect, and laugh-out-loud-funny, One Love is a fantastic follow up, and - dare I say - even better than One Night.

A BIG Thank You to NetGalley and Timpi Publishing for providing me a copy of “One Love” by Deanna Cabinian in exchange for my honest review.

Am I the only one who didn’t enjoy reading this book? I am seeing a lot of five star comments out there for “One Love” and I honestly didn’t find it that memorable.

The main problem I had with this book was that I couldn’t get invested in the love story of the main characters. I felt that Thompson doesn’t spend much in-person time with Charlotte or Greta thro

I recieved this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I did not read the first book, but this seems to go fairly well as a stand alone. I liked this book, but I didn't love it. I did not find myself very invested in the characters, and I am wondering if it is because I don't know the backstory about the main character from book one. It was a cute story, but a little predictable, and it didn't reel me in like I hoped it would. Might revisit it at a later date and read the
A huge thanks to Mrs. Cabinian for offering me the chance to read this book in exchange for a fair review. This has not influenced my thoughts on the book.

Note: This is a sequel that can be read as a standalone.

Catching up with these characters was really cool. They continue to be the best part of Cabinian’s writing. While her style is up to par, and the plot is interesting, her characters stand out with how realistic they seem. One Love is a really cute read, it’s enticing and fun, and easy to

Many moons ago (or about a year and a half ago, maybe?), I read and adored One Night, the prequel to this book, praising its amazing characters, morals, and light tone. When the author contacted me and asked me to read and review One Love, I was all for it. I just missed the premise of this story so much! Luckily, I enjoyed this sequel just as much- or maybe even more- than the first book in the series, and this is coming from someone who often suffers from second-book disliking syndrome.

One Love by Deanna Cabinian is not a coming-of-age novel (IMHO). The coming-of-age novel is One Night also by Deanna Cabinian. The latter takes place in high school; One Love takes place in the university. While we can argue about the maturity of some university student actions, I want to point out that by now the characters are “of-age,” so let’s get on with taking on more responsibility. However, I was delighted to read more adventurous experiences of Hunter Lake. He still had the good sense t ...more

'One Love' a sequel to 'One Night' (but can be read as a separate book) is a heart-warming book about first love, heartache and relationships. Thompson Lake is a really likeable character who in the previous book fought with his heartache which led him to the meeting with Johnny an Elvis impersonator. After the adventures they had together in the first book now Thompson goes to college with his best mate Ronnie while Greta (Thompson's girlfriend) leaves to study in Rome, Italy. Freshman college students are facing the reality of long distance relationships and growing up into adulthood. This is book 2 of the story of Thompson Lake and by the ending there must be another book 3 in the works but book 2 can be read without having read book 1 without being lost.
