Great Series

Loved Loved Loved the cover of this book!!! Riley also to fragile for my liking is a great character to see developing throughout the series, while slow she is still developing. Navan is a character that is indeed one to watch! Pandora, Pandora...

This book takes the couple from battle with one enemy, while strolling into Navan’s world to running into the arms of another enemy.

This series is really one to watch out for. I will recommend this book to all my Goodreads friends!

Oh boy.

Coldbloods was kind of iffy for me. Especially since it was the second book of this series but it was kind of hard for me to read sometimes. WHY? Well, I just didn't really care about the characters the entire time. I just feel like so much could've been avoided if it wasn't for stupid decisions being made of characters getting into something they should have done.

I honestly couldn't stand the MC, Riley, in this book. I don't know what it was but she was just annoying me so freaking much in this book. It's like she instantly became dumber than she was in the first book. Then there's Navan, who was just kind of meh. These two couldn't have saved this book for me if it was written in a total different way. If that makes sense?

I'm kind of lucky I read this while at work because work was definitely keeping my mind off of this book.

Besides me not liking some stuff, there's action and adventure. I still think this whole world is pretty interesting, especially with having vampire and aliens. However, I just don't think this book was more. I think I need a break before I dive into another one of these books.

Took forever to finish...

The heroine in this book has way too many "too stupid to live" (TSTL) moments for my enjoyment.

The second book in this series was action packed and so much happened in a short space of time. There were so many twists and turns it was hard to figure how who were the good guys and who were the bad. Enemies became frenemies as the situation that Riley and Naven were in became more complicated and changed frequently. The difference between the Queens and their worlds reminded me of the Light and Dark Fae with contrasting homes, architecture and way of life yet both Queens were ruthless and bloodthirsty and would stop at nothing to win the kingdom. Interesting how in the south one human turned heads yet in the north no one questioned a whole group of them appearing out of nowhere. It is kind of like the game of Chess - so many pawns in play all capable of taking out the Queen if given the right opportunity but will Riley and her friends be able to make the right move in time to save Earth and the people they care about. This story kept my interest and while I am still not invested in the romance I am curious to see what happens next.

This book was none stop action with twists and turns on every page. I was glad for a bit of levity near the end. Shocking epilogue too. Can’t wait for the next book.

This review MAY contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.

This book was marginally better than the first book of this series. I found the first book okay- not bad, but not great either. I would say this one was a smidge above that.

I found that the plot was much better in this follow-up to Hotbloods. The sequence of events was smoother and more natural. There wasn't a huge feeling of implausibility in this book that I felt in the first book. Granted, the plot twist was already out of the bag in the second book and I was already used to it so that part didn't really come into play in this book. The story definitely kept me curious and wanting to read more to find out what would happen.

I thought that the characters were still not as solid as they could be, but I have to admit that they weren't nearly as annoying in this book as the last one. I just don't really feel connected to these characters, and I hate that. I shouldn't have to ask myself if I care about the characters. It should go without question. So I think that the character development could use some work. Not so much in their backstories, but in the way that they express themselves and show their personalities. There is a lack of emotion that is really doing them a disservice.

I liked the world-building in this book much more than the last. In this book we start out on Earth, but most of the book is taken place on another planet. The planet of Vysanthe is described vividly with adequate descriptions of places and climate. I really got a good feel of the environment.

The romance was okay. Nothing to write home about. Riley and Navan aren't hiding their feelings anymore, at least from themselves. It just feels like this book is a Young Adult book though. I was expecting a more mature romance since this is a New Adult book. The romance is very mild. I feel like the romantic scenes don't evoke enough emotion. It feels like they are just kissing to kiss. I need more heartwarming dialogue or expressions of their love.

Overall, this book is better than its predecessor. Some of the issues that I had with the first book have been improved, even if only slightly. I am still going to continue the series and see where things go. If you like easy, breezy paranormal romance then you would most likely enjoy this book. If you are wanting something with complex characters or convincing romance then not so much. I would recommend this book though because it did entertain me.

I am truly enjoying the story of Navan and Riley.

In this book we really get to see the beauty and harshness of Vysanth. They have to hide their feelings for each other and it becomes difficult.

Orion is hot on their heels as usual. He seems to be everywhere but not there.

It feels like Navan is getting betrayed left and right and we aren’t really sure why.

Riley is proving to be a tough girl and I really like her as a heroine. She is growing into her role.

Just when we think they are going back to earth disaster strikes and nothing you would ever expect happens!

As usual Bella leaves us with a juicy spoiler for book 3. I cannot wait until February!

Riley and Navan are in a world of trouble. They still need to retrieve Riley's blood that is on it's way to Vysanthe and they are no closer to being able to do so. In trying to rescue Navan from the rebels, Riley is captured as well and the two of them must enter into a deal with the rebels. They are sent off on a dangerous spy mission to Vysanthe. Mind you, Vysanthe is the last place a human should be traveling, and they must get intel on Queen Gianne's weaknesses without being discovered or killed. Which is eventually what happens - they are discovered and several of the rebels that accompanied them are killed. They are forced to flee to Queen Brisha's part of the kingdom where they receive a warmer welcome, but a price still needs to be paid - a sample of Riley's blood.

Queen Brisha is more level-headed than Gianne, but she wants what she wants and that is the immortality serum. Now she has a sample of Riley's blood, and Riley, oh and Riley's friends who show up at the end. There is also the war with Gianne that seems to be gearing up since Navan defected to Brisha, and let's not forget the Rebels who are amassing on Earth to try to overthrow both queens at some point. The end of the book is a mess! Riley and Navan are still under the thumb of the rebels and they are about to be caught in a 3-way battle for Vysanthe.

This book is action packed BUT.......it still irritates me how it is delivered. None of our characters problems are ever solved before more challenges are thrown at them. The result is a frustrated reader. I feel like the characters are stuck at the top of a pinball machine. They don't even get close to the exit before a paddle sends them back up to the top. I am giving it one more book. I hope I am not disappointed.

Ok everyone, this story is cool. You’ve got some upgraded version of vampires, werewolves and other mythical creatures, they are aliens. Then you’ve got some dumb girls getting in other people’s business (like who the f*** goes in the middle of the night in an abandoned house to check the source of an agonised voice? ) Well, that was my major problem with this series, the love line and the initial dumbness of the heroine. Then the story is cool. They embark on an adventure to save the world, and they probably will. But I don’t want serious business mixed with stupid love.

My advice is that you read this series. If you have no issues with stupid love and you find it sweet, then go for it!

Again i enjoyed this more the second time around. Though there are a lot of things that are plot hole howlers and also a fair few unbelievable things happen, this is still a great action packed book with a believable romance and a considerable amount of plot twists.
-----------------------------------------------

Definitely not as good as the first book there were so many parts where i was rolling my eyes at Riley's stupidity and there was a severe lack of any real tension between the two main characters.
I will probably read the last installment when it comes out but only if this series is going to end up a trilogy as i want to be done with it.

This book, unlike the first, took me FOREVER to read. It was so dull that I settled for reading small sections while on my train journeys too and from uni. They were small enough that I wouldn't get bored and I was able to finally finish it today.

What can I say? Navan is EH in this book. Riley is also EH. Also all this unnecessary action just bugs me so much...

I'm probably gonna end up reading the last one because I'm interested to know how it ends but, besides that, I'm not exactly excited for it.

Should you read this book? Depends how much patience you have.

Good second book.

I do recommend this to fans of Bella. It took a new direction that I'm not sure how I feel on, but will keep reading the series and we will see.
Still liking the characters and over all feel of the story.

I enjoyed this book more than I did the first one. There are still some things that I would like to have seen done better; for example, I still found several typos and grammatical errors and I would have like the world building to be better. I have read quite a few sci/fi and fantasy books and one thing I truly love is "seeing" the worlds authors create and inhabit. Although I think this book is slightly better than the first one in this regard I would have liked to see less time spent on trivial things and more time on world building.

I liked Riley's character better than I did in the first book. She develops more and is becoming a stronger and more confident individual. However, I did not like some of the interactions that Navan had with Riley. I think that it would have helped with both world building and character development if they had have had more discussions about what is expected of the other in certain situations. Personally speaking if I thought my life might be on the line I would have been on a major fact finding mission not sticking my head in the sand. I would think that most people would feel this way.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was not too slow paced and the issues I mentioned, although I feel it would have made the story stronger, did not greatly affect the flow of the story nor the overall effect it had on my enjoyment.

I have already pre ordered my copy of book three set to be released on 10 Feb 2018.
Happy Reading

I loved this book. Such a thrilling carry on in the story.

I have to say, I was really quite annoyed with Rileys stupidity though- barging into Navans cell with no guards around, I could see from a mile off that it was a trap!

I’m also quite annoyed that Angie and Lauren were written as stowaways on Bashriks ship- almost seemed like a bad effort to keep them included in the story. But obviously, they need to be. You can’t just forget about the heroines best friends.

So much deception and emotion. I love how Bella invokes such feelings from her readers with the characters in her books. I absolutely detest Orion, Queen Gianne and Lazar. Vysanthians really are a terrible species! Always one upping each other!

Pandora’s double life was a shock, I didn’t expect that to happen.

I wish there was a bit more description with the excuse for Riley’s absense, what Bashrik and the girls did once they knew Riley and Galo weren’t coming out. How did Bashrik manage to get a coldbloods ship?

Either way, I’m beyond excited for the last book. Bring on February!

Welcome to Vysanthe

I feel like I am slowing getting into their series. I enjoyed it and was entertained. It was a tad predictable at times (Seraphina I saw you coming a mile away) and didn’t have the same Bella cliffhanger (IMHO) but there were plenty of twists and turns. I was super annoyed with Riley early on (seriously, who couldn’t see that was a trap?) but it’s been interesting to see her evolution in this book. I also enjoy the new worlds and space travel outside the world of The Shade.

Bella is wonderful at giving you just enough to be hooked and wonder what the heck is going on. I will definitely keep reading to discover more on the ‘savage beauty’ of Vysanthe.

I think if you enjoy her other series you will like this. Or just want to dive into a quick adventure that’s going to leave ya waiting for the next book...how does she keep up?

What an awesome book! This is not Bella’s traditional vampire book, but it was phenomenal! Im convinced that anything she writes is ALWAYS going to be over the top. This book was great. I don’t know how she was able to separate herself from her A Shade Of Vampire books to create a whole new type of vampire and give it a twist with a syfy effect! You wont be disappointed. It had me on the edge of my seat. I was so jittery with excitement to find out what was going to happen next it was hard to sit still. This second book was just as good as the first one in the series if not BETTER! I love the romance between the characters. Its amazing to watch them develop into two new beings once they establish a relationship with each other. All I can say is keep them coming Bella!!!

As always, Bella has wrote another awesome book!! It just amazes me how she can keep writing so many books. A Shade of Vampire (one book every month), The Girl Who Dare Series, Spellshadow Manor Series, The Gender Series, and now HotBloods and ColdBloods. And to keep them all separate and making the reader always want more. The romance is exciting with all the characters and that is with all her books. How she keeps all the story lines separate is beyond me. Once again Bella, you have done a spectacular job and I love to see how the relationship develops between Riley and Navan! Thank you again!

A compelling twist of vampire alien type hybrids that seems to work amazingly well. The book is a mix of romance,sci-fi, fantasy, action and so much more. You find yourself getting drawn into the well written characters story and the story just makes you relive those first crush feelings!
The vampire element is written from a slightly unique angle and don't go thinking of comparing it to twilight as it is world's apart!!
I'm completely addicted to the characters and am not on the 5th book of the series in as many weeks! The flow carries on through each one and leaves you wanting more.

Excellent Read

I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy/SciFi! The storyline was well written and progressed logically! Being entirely set on a different planet gave the writer a chance to be creative it would have been nice to have had these Coldbloods live a little differently, for the life of the humans to be more challenging. I found the strength of character of the females to be less than what I had hoped for.

Good storytelling

I like the character development and plot lines. I gave only 3 stars due to some unbelievability issues. The coldbloods on Vysanthe have no knowledge of Earth or humans but everyone speaks english? They use words like concierge and have very human like trains as transportation. A completely foreign species would have its own language and tech. But overall a good story.

I'm finding this serial to be more & more focused towards a YA audience so it struggled to hold my interest. It's a shame as the storyline itself could easily have been adapted to reach a much broader reader group!! Due to this issue it's very unlikely that I'll read any further books in the Coldbloods Series.

I love, love, love this series. This book is just... whoa! What happened to end these friends up where they do? Oh man, this book is crazy. I certainly would have confessed to the North Queen. These young kids are having this poorly. I Cabot wait until next month when "Renegades" comes out.
