Five years ago, I escaped a dangerous life I had always wanted to leave. I got away. I found freedom. But it cost me the love of my life.

For five years I lived in hiding, protecting my most valuable secret while Sayer Wesley sat in prison paying for both our sins. I promised to love him forever. I promised to never leave him.

I broke my promises.

Before you read this review: Please note that this is book 2 in a duet. I usually keep my reviews as spoiler-free as possible but please don't read on if you haven't finished book 1 yet.

Consequence starts right where Constant ended. There is a consistency in the pattern we get switching between present and past - this time the past is told from Sayer's point of view, which helped to understand the kind of people Sayer and Caro are.

Sayer is a wonderful hero. There is no

Consequence was a different type of story than the first part. It was high in intensity and had far much more action than Constant. There was much more mafia involvement as the characters tried to navigate their way to survival. Who do they trust? And will their con work?

I loved how the author drew me into this story and had me wanting to run in the other direction. My fear for these characters was profound, and although I knew that things HAD to work out for the better, getting to the h

Hello Sayer!! I will keep this review spoiler-free because this book must be read AFTER Constant, book one in this dare I say epic duet. This is the perfect conclusion to this sexy, intense story and picks up immediately following the disappearance of Caro's daughter. The most important rea

As I read Consequence, the sequel to Constant, I kept thinking of a yo yo: the actions would spin forward, but then just as quickly slam to a halt, leaving us dangling, just short of any destination, with us readers wondering "What was that all about?" The plot was all over the place.
Towards the middle and end of the story, the image of daisies came to mind: you know: she loves him, she loves him not.... I lost track of how many times Caro kept falling back into her old familiar hang ups and ins

I’m not normally drawn to mobster-type stories but CONSTANT got under my skin and pulled me in, so I was ready to read the completion in CONSEQUENCE. This is a fast-paced culmination, picking up from the abrupt ending of CONSTANT and diving into the distraught emotions of Sayer and Caroline.

The angst was pretty unrelenting in this story, apart from the rather confusing ability of Caro to distract herself from the chaos and emotion of (view spoiler)

Dramatic, suspenseful, and romantic in a way that I was completely unprepared for - Consequence, the second book in Rachel Higginson's The Confidence Game series, is some kind of crazy wild ride from which I'm still catching my breath! I was on the edge of my seat for much of this story, the twists and turns kept my head spinning and my heart beating rapidly while the truth was slowly uncovered and Caroline and Sayer's story reached it's sort of epic conclusion.

I wasn't always sure how I felt ab

“Caroline was mine. She would always be mine. But more importantly, I was hers.”

I was so damn excited to get my hands on the epic conclusion to Sayer and Caroline’s hard-fought and exhilarating love story. It had to be tough following the first book in the duet, but Rachel did it and she did it REALLY WELL! I relished the thought of immediately diving in and getting sucked back into this world of thieves, liars, and criminals. I was excited to get back to Sayer, Caro, and the rest of the gan

"This man made me stupid. He was every bad decision and hasty regret. He was all my wrong choices and abandoned dreams."

'Consequence' is the followup to 'Constant' and picks up after that helluva cliffhanger that left us all with our jaws on the ground and eager to get our hands on this book.

From the lies and secrets Sayer held to the real threats against Caro and her family that left my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes, there were many ups and downs in this story. And I loved t

I absolutely loved the first book. However, this one I wasn’t so keen on. That’s my opinion, I’m sure others will think it’s awesome, so don’t let it put you off.

Sayer and Caro are a steaming hot couple. They have some amazing scenes together. But I found myself questioning two things;

A) my four year old daughter had been kidnapped, would I be getting all passionate with my ex in his vehicle?

B) If my four year old daughter had just been returned to me, she’s asleep in the bedroom. My friends are

I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.  Where I loved the flashbacks in book 1, they weren’t as seamless and didn’t flow as smoothly in book 2.  The story also bogs down and is always stuck in Caro’s head, which was frustrating.  Caro went from a character I loved to someone I was ready to be done with.  I was much like Atticus at the end of the story; I didn’t understand her appeal.  I still don’t.

I did like that we got a lot from Sayer’s perspective, and I think I wou

Consequences. The word in itself has a very negative connotation to it. Facing the consequences sounds quite forbearing and that something unpleasant or unwelcome is coming. I've been carrying this feeling around with me since the end of Constant when Rachel left me sitting out on the edge of that very high cliff.

Sayer and Caro have just been blindsided in the worst possible way. Five years ago Caro left a life with the Bratva to begin a new life for herself in Colorado, she never dreamed she wo

OH MY GOD! I thought Constant was amazing, I mean like 6 star worthy. Consequence just straight up blew my mind! I mean I'm talking like 7 stars. I'm so grateful Rachel Higginson wrote this duet because Sayer and Caroline wouldn't stop talking to her.

Not only is their story wrapped up, but you get dual points of view so you learn what really happened in the past from Sayer and you see what's happening in the present from Caroline. Let me tell you, this was a game changer because Sayer is nothing

Sexy, intense, great ending to a love story...

What a perfect ending to Sayer and Caroline love story. Consequence picked up where Caroline’s daughter disappeared into thin air. Sayer found out he has a daughter all along and did not even had a chance to spend time with her. With Sayer’s dangerous past, will he ever be free? It does not seem so … he will always have to look behind his shoulder because someone is always out for blood and revenge. How will Sayer and Caroline conquer the mafia and b

Consequence picks up right where Constant leaves off, after the big cliffhanger. So, if you haven't read book 1, do not attempt to read book 2.

The positive...
I love Rachel Higginson's writing style. She writes in a way that you feel everything. She includes all the little details, that can be easily forgotten, but are so integral to the character development.

Unfortunately, Consequence fell short for me. It's a dual POV, but I found Caro's side a little lacking. I really liked her in book #1, but

This is the second and final book of “The Confidence Game” series. It can not be read as a stand alone you must read “Constant” first. I really wish this was an ongoing series because I am still so curious about Gus, Frankie and Mason. But I am also a greedy girl.

This story is a continuation of “Constant” and since you have read the first book you know that Sayer found Caro and so many secrets and truths were being revealed (maybe n

Consequence picks up right where Constant left off – thankfully. If you’ve read Constant, then you already know that it leaves you wanting, no, scratch that, needing more. I was more than a little eager to get back into Caro and Sayer’s story.

There was never a dull moment in this book. I felt every ounce of the fear and desperation that Caro was experiencing. All she wanted was to provide a normal and safe environment for her young daughter, but her past always seemed to be lurking around every

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I've been anticipating this release and conclusion of the Confidence Game after the bit of a cliffhanger we were left with in the previous book.  CONSEQUENCE picks up where CONSTANT left off and gives us a different kind of book than the first.  Where there were some cuter and simpler moments in the first one, this one

Consequence is the conclusion the The Confidence Game Duet. I would categorize this series as romantic suspense. It is necessary to read book 1, Constant first as it is a continuing story.

Caroline was the only narrator for book one. However, in Consequence we also get some of Sayer's POV.

Constant ended with an amazing cliffhanger pertaining to Caroline's daughter Juliet. I am a huge fan of well done cliffhangers. So I was very anxious to read Consequence.

I had been waiting for this book and it did not disappoint. This is the second book in the series. If you have not read the first book Constant, stop reading and go read it now. This book picks up where the first book left off. Caroline (Caro) & Sayer's daughter Juliette has been taken by someone and they are on the hunt to get her back. Sayer had just found out about her. Or so the readers thought. As they work to get her back the bond that was so strong for them growing up is starting to refor ...more
