Nice little book about kids visiting a space museum. Some moon knowledge, some pictures (which I found quite weird) and boom ..the book ends.
Read this book to my kid as a bedtime story.
Thank you Publishers for the free copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
My sons honest thought included.

This is a fun and educational book. A really good children's book. Jamuel and his friends are enjoyable. There is a nice diverse of Jamuel's friends. The illustrations were great. Very colorful and helped to bring the story to life.
Young readers will like this book. When I was younger I wanted to be an astronaut. The idea of traveling into space is thrilling. Yet, I can tell you that I never gave much thought into the concept that math and science really played important parts in being an astro ...more

The best way to judge a children's book is to read it to a child. So I read this to my 4 year old son. There were lots of full pages with colorful illustrations. Not every page had them though and I found that he lost interest when there weren't pictures.
The story begins with Jamuel having a dream about aliens and his friends playing on the moon. My son and I found this to be the funniest and most creative part of the story. We enjoyed the crazy imagination and aliens.

I love reading and reviewing books. When I read this book, I had a lot of mixed feelings. Half of my opinions are super wonderful while the other half was not. I will list what I felt and let you decide.
Pros:
- The concept of the book was to get children excited for space. I loved how they learned through visiting a museum and learned a lot of facts through the wonderful tour guide.
- This book was a great way to get kids excited about visiting a museum.

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
Brooklyn Astronaut is a difficult book to review. It has good ideas: it reinforces the idea that friends can be any color and from any background, it teaches a little about space and the moon, and it encourages children to want to go to a museum. I also think the dream at the beginning of the book was fun and cute and kids of any age would enjoy it.

When asked by the author to review this book I agreed, since my eight-book series of picture books has 130,000 copies in print. I applaud the idea the author was getting across to his readers, but he doesn’t follow accepted guidelines. The book is listed for 8-12 year olds, but it’s not formatted traditionally for either age group. It looks like a picture book, but has no two-page illustrations, and it’s divided into chapters. The full page illustrations will appeal to the eight-year-olds, but

This is a very interesting and colorful book!
Imagination is engaged thinking about playing with aliens and being an astronaut to the moon!
Diversity is explored as the main character Jamuel goes to various friends homes to pick them up to go to the Brooklyn Science Museum. This is a nice spot in the book for teaching about different cultures and ethnicities.

'Brooklyn Astronaut: Jamuel's Journey to the Moon written and illustrated by Jermain Smith is about Jamuel, an African American child with his friends go on a field trip to the space museum. Jamuel learns and becomes interested in space and learning more about science in general. The artwork reminds me of the collage technique as well as using bold, matte colors. Jermain is a writer and illustrator who gives good advice to all readers on the dedication page "Listen to your teachers in school and
