"Sometimes those who feel they don’t deserve something are the ones who need it the most."

This story is about Rob (Alex’s brother from the first book in the "Collars & Cuffs" series). He was always jealous of Alex and now that he left him and married and have lots of friends that feeling got worse. He wants what Alex has. But his problem is he’s so angry, he feels alone, and he IS alone! So in his mind he thinks he is better than Alex or any other gay, particularly the subs! He thin

While this is Book 2 in the Secrets series, it also has its roots in An Unlocked Heart (Collars & Cuffs 1) and I think in order to have a good understanding of Rob Daniels, you need to read that first. If you’ve read An Unlocked Heart you probably already hate Rob, Alex’s, cold, calculating, manipulative, younger brother. The dedication of the book says it all:

"For all those who thought that Rob Daniels was an irredeemable little shit – We hope to change your minds."

An Unlocked Mind, the second book in K.C. Wells and Parker Williams’ Secrets series, is now available in audio. I’ve waited over a year to listen to Joel Leslie read this one to me, and I’m so happy! Mr. Leslie’s performance is excellent. He brings these characters to reality and infuses so much emotion into this story. I can’t imagine enjoying a Secrets novel any other way.

K.C. Wells and Parker Williams have created an amazing world in their interwoven Collars and Cuffs and Secrets series. The

Vic certainly had his work cut out for him after running into Rob at the newly opened club. Rob had a huge chip on his shoulder and was overflowing with anger, guilt and remorse. Vic took a chance and befriended this erratic kid and their story began. Patience was key and Vic had it in spades. This was a sweet story about forgiveness, courage and learning how to trust.

Secrets #2, in the spin-off series of Collars and Cuffs by this wonderful author duo, harks back to the very first book, An Unlocked Heart. Rob is Alex’s brother, who treated Alex horribly before he moved out to be with Leo. Five years later, Rob has made some attempt to better himself, so far without promising results. In part, his efforts stem from observing Alex and Leo together along with his glimpses of the BDSM lifestyle. In spite of his fascination, he’s in complete denial of both his des ...more

I loved this book. The funny thing is when I started it I hated Rob so much I almost stopped reading it. Vic is such a wonderful character and the way he patiently helped Rob to forgive himself was beautiful to read. I would barely classify this as BDSM. Vic is a Dom and Rob is submissive, but there is very little description of their scenes together. This book is a love story.

I admit I have a really soft spot for characters like Rob. Attentive and experienced readers of the Collars & Cuffs series by K.C. Wells and Parker Williams will notice that the main character Rob is the brother of Alex, hero of the first book in the series, An Unlocked Heart (note: you see the small connection in the title, right? ;)).

Rob is really vulnerable, something I like and the most part of the book he
This 2nd book in the spin-off series deals with Rob Daniels, Alex's brother, who had a hand in Alex and Leo almost not having a happy ever after, and whose actions, to some extent, caused Alex to remove himself from his judgmental family.

Rob is such a lost boy. He blames himself for Alex's leaving, and yet he's determined to prove that Alex has it all wrong - BDSM is not love. Therefore, Rob goes to Secrets to once again prove that point, sneering and judging everyone he sees in the club. Rob ha

While this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. However, I personally recommend readers read An Unlocked Heart from the authors’ Collars and Cuffs series first to get the backstory regarding Rob’s relationship with his brother Alex first—I think it will greatly enhance your enjoyment of An Unlocked Mind if you do.

Rob and Vic’s story starts and progresses slowly; their relationship builds over time as the two get to know each other and grow closer. Rob’s character goes through

I mentioned in my review of book one in this series how happy I was to see the former series, ‘Collars and Cuffs’, come full circle with Eli and Jarod taking over a BDSM club, Secrets, in London. Now with ‘An Unlocked Mind’ this exciting writing duo is bringing another thread from C&C into this world. Rob is Alex’s younger brother and Alex was featured in ‘An Unlocked Heart’, book one in the C&C series. In that particular novel Rob was a repugnant little sh*t who made Alex’s life far mor ...more

Interesting but Predictable!

Overwhelmed, lost and looking for more is the Rob & Vic story. This is a readable but not so intriguing tale. I do wonder about stories where multiple siblings are Gay or Bi. Is that authentic or an author’s device to move the story along.

Loved, loved, loved this story! Loved the main characters, loved the plot, loved the secondary characters, loved the setting, just plain old loved it!

I do enjoy this writing duo and their world of BDSM clubs, starting with Collars & Cuffs and continuing now with Secrets, so I immediately asked for this story for review. But somehow I didn’t realize that Rob Daniels is THE Rob Daniels, Alex Daniels’s brother (An Unlocked Heart), until I started reading and the light bulb went off. Within the

4.5 stars - This was a great second chance story. It sort of crosses over from the Collars & Cuffs series, as Rob is the brother of Alex, whom we met in book 1 of that series. He was not a very nice character back then, being pretty horrible to Alex, almost getting Leo arrested for hurting Alex, thus forcing Alex to leave home.

All was not as it seemed, however, and Rob was a pretty classic case of lashing out to cover up his own sexuality. He hadn't acted on it though, and honestly didn't un

Is the horrid and irredeemable Rob Daniels redeemable after all? Can Vic manage to break through Rob's attitude and defenses and get to the true person hidden deep within?

For those of us that have read the Collars & Cuffs series you may remember Rob as Alex's not so nice brother. For everyone else, don't worry if you haven't because An Unlocked Mind is a standalone and the authors provide all the background information you need.

When we first meet Rob he is working at a supermarket and has a run in with a customer. I got really mad on Rob's behalf reading this scene. I thought Rob was bein

DNF @ 67%. I found the first half of the book quite slow and almost boring because of all of the telling. The story picked up, but by that time, I wasn't sure about Rob's character. There wasn't much background explanation of why he was so angry at the world. His family dynamics were depicted in An Unlocked Heart. In this book, I got a picturesque view of his current work and lonely living situation, I got details on his friendship with Jamie, lots of information about his guilt over snitching o ...more

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Rob is kind of a tortured soul in this story. He carried an immense amount of guilt and knows that he has wronged his brother from the previous story. Rob is trying to reconcile who he is with what he knows and who he believes he wants to be.

I have to be honest, I almost stopped reading this book. The beginning was so wordy and not much dialogue that I just wasn't connecting with the characters or story. I stuck with it and in the end really enjoyed the book after about 35% in. Vic was so nice to Rob and Rob was sooo down on himself that I just wanted to shake some sense into him. The chemistry between the two was good, not off the charts but still good. I love how Rob finally got

I love this series as well as the Cuffs and Collars series that acts as a prequel to this series. I loved all the previous books and although I liked this one, it was so far off being as good as the others that it came across as a little disappointing. If this book was written as a standalone, I may have received this book differently but coming off such a great series this one fell a little short in comparison.

This book is based on the relationship of Rob and Vic. Rob is Alex's brother,

Omg so good!!

First off I love how the authors show how uniquely the couples in not only this series but the previous one embrace and tailor the BDSM lifestyle to suit their needs, desires, fears, and limitations. I love getting Rob's story. He is a character that I never thought I'd like much less love. Now for the mom, let's just say I know some swamp land she can get lost in and I'd gladly give her a meat suit to wear while doing so.

The unlocking of a mind (an audio review)

I love K.C. Wells’ and Parker Williams’ series Collars and Cuffs and, as I’ve said before, they ended it at the perfect time. They also left open the possibility for a new series and Secrets is that series. The first book, Before You Break, was amazing, and my expectations were high for this book. So for the book to start with a character I’ve loathed for years was a challenge. For those who read the Collars and Cuffs series, the first book is about submi

This is book two in the Secrets series from KC Wells. The Secrets series is a spinoff from her wildly popular Collars and Cuffs series, and has crossover characters from the original. In this book two, we get cameos from the very first Collars and Cuffs couple, Leo and Alex.

Rob Daniels is a mess, torn between who he is, who he used to be, and who he wants to be. If you read the book An Unlocked Heart (Collars and Cuffs #1), you will remember Rob and how he treated his brother Alex in that book.

I loved the Collars and Cuffs series and was so sad to see it end. KC and Parker are amazing writing duo and they just get stronger and stronger. This book must be my favourite of all the Collars and Cuffs / Secrets series so far.

They have a natural talent of building very deep and realistic characters, that grow through out the book. The characters descriptions are so well described you feel like one of their friends watching them evolve. We especially get to experience their feelings both happ

I hate it when romance writers embue one of their characters with what comes tantamount to almost supernatural faculties of empathy at the root of the whole launching of the narrative, so that the plot consist of the unravelling and rebuilding of the troubled psyche of the other hero under their care. This trope does not hold water in the least unless the character who does the psychoanalysis is a trained practitioner and is presented as such. The Secrets series soars to new heights with this one and to me it really stands out from the other books in the Collars and Cuffs & Secrets universe. I enjoyed reading all the books in these two series, but a couple of them resonated with me more than others and An Unlocked Mind is absolutely joining Dom of Ages at the top of my list.

Rob makes for a very unlikely sub with his cocky attitude, which he never loses, and that’s definitely part of why I adore him so much. The vulnerability he h

I read this in one sitting without stopping once - absolutely enthralled by Rob and Vic's story.

It is not necessary to have read the Collars & Cuffs series or the previous book in this series either by these two to understand the story - everything is nicely explained BDSM has lost its shine for me lately and I get tired of the same old tropes with bossy Doms and beautifully perfect subs. This was not that at all.

3.5/5 stars for An Unlocked Mind - I really love this series, and I really really loved the Collars & Cuffs prequel series, but this book wasn't even close to the rest.

Rob is Alex's brother, who we met in Collars & Cuffs Book 1, An Unlocked Heart. Right off the bat, I was nervous about reading this book because every single page of the entire Collars & Cuffs series just reinforced how awful Rob was as a person. What I did like about this book is that Wells and Parker didn't shy away
