The names of the dishes were cracking me up. I was very sleep-deprived, thanks to the little shit whom I was reading to, but it's funny nonetheless, with an important lesson to parents that kids don't have exquisite taste, so just give them a goddamn banana and quit trying so hard. ...more

There is some creativity with coming up with all of the banana dishes - though it might be a missed opportunity to not have used real dishes - but it's pretty much silliness, and silliness that might aggravate parents of picky eaters. Your mileage may vary. ...more

Baby gorilla just won't eat any banana dish mom and dad bring him. But maybe all he wants is just something simple. Picture book in rhyme with brilliantly colorful illustrations. Will have to remember this for a monkey or gorilla themed storytime. ...more
The Gorilla parents of a picky eater, try every banana recipe that they have to get Baby Gorilla to eat, but he simply refuses to eat anything they put before him. Told in rhyme this fun-filled book will put a smile on your face.

Kind of cute idea (I'm wary of picky eater books and I don't know if this one would be helpful or not), and I was actually amused by the different banana dishes, although they may go over kids' heads. But the illustration style was flat and not interesting or pretty to me. ...more

Age: Toddler-Preschool
Animals: Gorillas
Food: Bananas, picky eater

Through rhyming verse, two adult gorillas try to get a picky eater to indulge in a variety of banana recipes. Nothing groundbreaking but satisfying in execution.
A rhyming read-aloud for those who like plain. Vanilla ice cream, anyone?

This brightly colored picturebook is rife with well-executed rhyming couplets. No tired, predictable rhymes in this book! An entertaining premise that promises to be a good read aloud title.

Cute illustrations but the 4 year old seemed a little bored with the story by the end.
