Dragon Fire, Angel Light is an interesting concept in plot and characters; however, I found the narration to be off-putting. For most of the story, you are told what is happening far more than you are shown Evyn and William’s relationship is growing. Evyn spent more time at William’s flat than his own. I felt like I was being dictated to rather than reading a story.

Though you get to see William and Evyn meeting, it doesn’t seem to be explained very well, and there is no ‘on-screen’ relationship

No. Just no. I very rarely ever not finish a book that I start. It's just how I am. This one, however, I did not finish and will not be going back to. I cannot even imagine people speaking to each other the way these characters speak to each other. The dialogue is stilted and stiff. It is completely unbelievable. And the way the two main characters come together was not convincing. Great, they met in a bookstore - love that idea. Not enough bookstores around so yay! However, the entire "courtshi ...more

From Magnolia Reviews: One Petal

This book was entirely comprised of telling rather than showing, completely lacked needed descriptions in every aspect of the story, and was therefore almost completely unreadable. I do not recommend it at all.

Oh my.

I’m always drawn to dragon stories and I loved the blurb for Dragon Fire, Angel Light. The beginning was promising, set in the time of the Battle of Hastings, the language was formal, a little stiff, but it fit the historical setting. Fine, we’re good. As dragons live for centuries, the story moves ahead with the same characters to modern times and from there on out, the story just fell apart. Well, to be honest, in didn’t fall apart, as it never got off the ground.

We’re introduced to Wi

The dragon thing is cool, I mean who is not interested and mesmerised by powerful, magical creatures? I like how (view spoiler)

However, the characters in this book are plain, they seem off I don’t know how to explain it, there’s just no depth, and you don’t get any sense of their character or personality. Theresa (the sor

Synopsis: William is a dragon who is over two thousand years old. He works as a professor at a college. William hasn't been with anyone since he broke up with his abusive ex for good back in the early 1900s. (They are both dragons.) Then William meets Evyn and is immediately smitten. Evyn has had a rough (although not nearly as long) life, too, and the two settle in to a happy relationship.
But someone is out to get all the "monsters", which means anyone with magic in them, and Evyn seems

This is a bit of a strange book. The ideas are interesting, and would make for good reading, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Any fan of the show Supernatural might be interested in dragons that live in the shape of human bodies, and their angelic lovers, and some of the world building is interesting. Dragons have caregivers who wash their scales, and practice adoption when families are destroyed. The span of their life is also compelling, as the main character has lived long enough ...more

I got this book from Netgalley for an honest review. I love dragon books, but this one fell a little flat. There was quite a bit of intrigue, killings, history and a brotherhood that wanted to kill all supernatural creatures. I did finish the book quickly as I wanted to know what happened to William and Evyn. It ended very quickly and did not feel finished to me.

Dragon stories have so much potential to be unique & interesting. However, this author's attempt fell flat. The stagnant, nearly non-existent plot made the book so boring that I'm tempted to create a shelf called "better than ambien" especially for it. Do not recommend unless you're trying to cure insomnia

this was an interesting start to a new type of writing for me. but it seemed to be missing several parts and pieces to its story. overall i did enjoy it.. and the topic of writing was very good.. it just needed more.

I received a copy of Dragon Fire, Angel Light by Shara Godwinson via IndiGo Marketing & Design in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the main character William, the dragon in the title. Unlike most dragons, William enjoys living among humans and passes for one. He has enough weak spots to seem realistic. None of the other characters are as well done. Additionally, the author brings in random mythological creatures to create additional conflict that does not advance the plot in a meanin ...more

Let me preface this review. I saw the blurb about dragons and paid no attention to the M/M relationship in this story. I have not read a story where the main characters are male lovers. This book was just so much to read that I forgot about the genre it was and focused on the story. So if you choose to read this, you know what you're reading.

The characters felt real. I felt like I was walking in their shoes. There were even a couple of times I found myself moving as if I was fighting the battle

I ignored a few of what seem to be some personal animosity, negative reviews. Especially those posted on Feb 4th.
This is a fascinating story, unusual in its originality. Anyone who likes dragon's love tales, with a few major twists, will enjoy this book!

I am a huge fantasy fan, and love anything to do with dragons, whether it be in the romance genre or otherwise.

I thought the world building was well done, especially the details about dragon life, and the different types of dragons. I also thought the author did a good job in showing how William is not human, and struggling to behave as one. His reactions and cluelessness made that part of the story feel realistic. The reason given for why vampires avoid having their photos taken was very origi

*I received an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

The summary had me extremely intrigued and the cover is what made me grab for this to read. So I was going in with high hopes that this was going to be awesome. I mean, it has dragons in it. It’s got to be great, right? Not so much. A lot of the characters fell flat. The conversation between the characters was very stilted, forced and was hard to read through. If I’m being one hundred percent honest, this felt like fanfic that so

Shara Godwinson is a Hispanic/Native American writer from Oregon. She has always loved fantasy, having fallen in love with it as a child. She loved fairy tales from authors such as Hans Christian Anderson and The Brothers Grimm. J.R.R. Tolkien has always been a massive influence, especially characters like Fili, Kili, Faramir and Sam (a personal favorite). She graduated from Eastern Oregon Univers ...more
