I'm a sucker for mafia romances and this one blown my mind! Seriously the fact that it has suspense, secrets, romance and many more made me love it even more!

After finding out how her father really feels about her, she decides to run away. She manages to do it and change her name to Chloe. Now 8 years later, girls with a black rose tattoo

The first thing I am going to say about this book is that if you think a character is safe, think again. Nobody in this book is safe from this authors fingers when it comes to the storyline.

I loved the storyline and not knowing what was coming next. There is a romance involved in this book, but it isn't the main theme. This is a mystery and mafia embed book that centers around Renee (Chloe) and her father Matthew. Chloe is a wonderfully strong character that takes lead in this book and doesn't t

I really, really, thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s not my usual genre but the blurb caught my eye, and I’m glad it did.

Anyone loving underworld crime stories, with enough twists and turns to strangle your stomach, will love this book. I’ve already insisted a few of my friends read this book.

Matthew Parnell is one sadisticly sick individual, his hatred for his daughter is apparent from the off. And there’s no love lost the other way. But how Renee even gets out of bed in the morning to face a

An exciting and well written Mafia story.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and I must say it won’t be the last.
Jennifer Bates has a way of pulling you into the story’s plot.
There are twists and turns where you don’t know what to believe. Is he dead? Is he alive? Why was this one killed?
Who is my friend and who is spying on me.
The book kept me up til the wee hours of the morning so I could finish it.
Jennifer, you have my vote! Write some more Mafia books.

The Boss’s Daughter, by Jennifer Bates, is a romantic thriller about fighting to protect your friends and family, even if it means putting yourself in danger.

Renee Parnell grew up in a mob family, where loyalty is everything, and one misstep could end with her dead. When she meets a young man named Christopher Reynolds, he begins to show her that there is more to life than what she knew now, and the two subsequently fall in love. However, on the day of her wedding, Christopher tragically dies,

I love mafia books. There are so many angles a book can go and how intense this type of book can get only in a few chapters. That is what happened. The first chapter, I actually really enjoyed. You learn more than you think in that opening chapter. You actually see how the characters are going to be and which ones you can trust, which ones you want to, and how it will all come full circle at the end. There is going to be so many twists and turns after that chapter that you will not know w

What a good debut book!! The storyline was interesting and it was difficult knowing what was coming up or happening next. My favorite part of this book was the fact that everyone is up for bad things happening, no one is safe, and not even the lead characters… actually they might have it worse than everyone else! The Boss’s Daughter has so much going on! That’s a good and a bad thing. I did have a bit of a hard time keeping up with it all. You won’t know who to trust and who not too. Thankfully, ...more

I know it’s only February but this has to be one of the best books that I have read this year!I have no doubt it will end up in my top 10 of 2018! It was gripping, it was exciting, it was dark and I loved it! I love Mob stories so I was really excited when I found this one and it did not disappoint AT ALL!! From the very first page I knew it was going to be good! There was more than one occasion when I

The Boss's Daughter was the first book that I've read by Jennifer Bates, and I absolutely LOVED every minute of it! I won't go into too many details as it's a story filled with suspense, and it's much better for everyone to go in blind, but basically, Renee Parnell is a powerful mob boss's daughter. But her father is a sadistic douche who hates her, so it's made her strong at a young age, and she's learned how to play the game well. That's all that I'm giving away, so you will just have to exper ...more

This was an outstanding and engaging read
What happens when your life is a lie?
What happens when everyone you love is violently ripped from your world by the one person you loved unconditionally?
Do you walk away to save your own soul?
Or do you choose to fight fire with fire- possibly sacrificing your essence during the elimination of the depraved?
This is one of those that will engage you from the opening scene to the closing - lots of hidden gems that lead to

I thought this was a interesting read the way the story line was very unique and different I know I'll be reading more by Jennifer Bates . From the first page my emotions took a hit it was very unexpected and I was like WHAT and then the next chapter I was like WHAT but it intrigued me wanting to know what was going to happen it was the blurb that had me but after reading the prologue it had me hooked . I don't want to give to much away but be prepared to be on a emotional roller coaster there w ...more

The Boss's Daughter (Book One of the Black Rose Series)
by Jennifer Bates sucked me in the moment I started reading it. I was consumed. It has been a long time since I had been that nervous for all the characters in a book as a read along. It seemed no one was safe.

This book is riddled with twists and turns you will never see coming and just when you think the deceit cannot go any deeper Jennifer Bates takes you there and then pushes you over just a little bit more. I thoroughly enjoyed never kn

This is the author’s debut novel and I just can’t wait to read more by her. This is a full novel that will have you wanting to know more and more about the lives and secrets of these characters. At first, I was a bit put off by the fact that you start at one point then go back about 20 years in the past for the backstory thinking you know how it will end, but keep reading and you will realize there are so many layers of this story. This is a great mystery, suspense, mafia, and crime novel that i ...more

This book had so much potential but fell flat for me. I had so much confusion at the beginning. I couldn't keep all the names straight and kept wondering if it would get better. It did a little bit but not like I'd hoped it would. Also, what dad is cool with their 16 year old daughter running an escort service. I get he wanted to keep her out of his business but I thought it was a bit much. This book is strictly about the Mafia. The romance aspect kinda took a back burner for most of the book. W ...more

I enjoyed this book, but the thing that threw me off the most was how it was written in third person. I guess not many people write in third person nowadays, so it took a few chapters to get into, and to be honest, I didn’t think I’d be able to make it very far for that reason alone.

But I kept on going and things got better. Holy mother of plot twists, Batman! When that happened, I literally said out loud “Holy. Crap.” And my grandmother looked at me funny until I explained what happened.

More suspense than romance, this one held me hostage until I got to the end. It may have been the turkey coma, but I felt a little dizzy from all the names and info in the beginning, but once it got rolling, I was hooked! Renee/Chloe is an absolute gem of a female character to read! She had me cheering her on the entire time!! Action and twisty turns had me glued, but the romance and love felt a little glossed over and too insta for me. All in all, a fantastic mafia suspense read!! I thank the A ...more

This book started out slow for me. It took me a while to make myself read it. I kept "finding" other things to do and read until I finally stopped procrastinating and read it. Once I got through the first half, I was okay. I enjoyed it and was consistently surprised by the new twists popping up from page to page. Crime bosses, sanctioned murders, secret boxes, lost loves, potentially new-found love, and a lot of loss at the hands of someone who is supposed to love you unconditionally. Well, I gu ...more
3.5 STARS! I really enjoyed this story. I wouldn’t consider this a dark read but some subject matter could be consider dark to some people. This is a story about Chloe who grew up in a mafia type family, raised by her father who she grew up trying to impress and earn his respect as she learned the family business inside and out. This story has love, loss, betrayal and vengeance. I would definitely recommend this story.

I loved every minute of it. I could not put this book down. I will be continuing this series no matter what. It is amazing!

I love a good Mafia romance and this book fit the bill, although a little light on the romance aspect. Ms. Bates new author to me and I would read anything she publishes. This book had so many twists and turns I didn’t know which way was up. Matthew Parnell is one sick and twisted individual. I don’t know how Renee, his daughter, lives with him. There is absolutely no love lost between the two of them. This book leaves you wondering who is your friend and who is spying on you. Love, love this b ...more

This was strangely sadder than I thought it would be. I do love sadder stories and more complex things as well. So I enjoyed that Bates thought through the emotions she wanted to tell in the story. I do think the romance could have been more pronounced though.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.

I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read. I’m usually pretty good about figuring out what’s going to happen. However, this book had more twists and turns that I never saw coming. Can’t wait for the next one. Great job Jennifer.
When I started this book I wasn't expecting what I got. Wow, plot twists and turns and a whole lot of action. The Boss's Daughter has it all. This is book one in the Black Rose series, you better hold on because I am sure it is going to be a bumpy good ride.

Great book, I could not put it down. I talk with the author at a small book bash in Texas and she was wonderful. I ordered the book that day. I don't read to many mob stories but I can wait for the next book.

Great story! I really enjoyed this mafia tale of a daughter that was always hated by her mob boss father. Lots of twists and turns and it kept me interested to the end. I hope there will be a second book. Very well written.
