Creep. Freak. Crazy Eyes. I've heard it all. Over the years, they've slammed me with every demeaning name in the book. Their taunts warped me like a steady stream of poison. Anger replaced anxiety as I started believing the cruelty spat my way. Until she showed up and changed everything.
Lennon Bennett is pure innocence—warm sunshine breaking apart my stormy existence. She's everything good and maybe I can be too. For her. With her. Because of her. Lennon doesn’t know I’m beckoned closer with each breath. She isn't aware that I'm completely consumed with her. It’s become my sole purpose to protect her, by any means necessary. But if she discovers the depth of my obsession, it will be the end of me. So, I remain in the shadows. Waiting. Watching. Wanting. She'll be my first. My last. My only.

Ryker and Lennon are two unique individuals who have both battled troubling childhoods and are both suffering with the consequences. Ryker suffers from anxiety and Lennon is very shy and this doesn’t make life any easier for them. As soon as Ryker sees Lennon he knows he will do anything to protect her from the world and anyone who will do her harm. But it is not an easy ride for these two; Ryker is sometimes suffocated in his darkness but Lennon is the sunshine that pushes through and he doesn’t want to let her go. He won’t let her out of his sight even if she doesn’t know it.
“You’re a wonderful man with a beautiful soul and my life is so much better with you in it,” Lennon’s soothing words smooth my ragged edges.”
This is not a sweet normal romance story- Ryker and Lennon’s story has some darkness, sadness, twisty moments but even in the darkness there is a sunshine that will push through. A true love of two people who are not seen as normal in society’s standards but who will show you that true, raw, beautiful love exists - it isn’t easy but it is worth it.
“Lennon is different, she always has been, she sees me, just like I always wished she would. Someone is finally giving me a chance and I’m so fucking grateful that person is her.”
Ryker and Lennon were both beautiful people. Two characters that you will easily fall in love with. Both have had such horrible experiences and my heart broke for them but it was built back to being whole as I read their love story. Ryker’s anxiety and the little faith he has in himself was hard to read sometimes but as the story develops so does Ryker and he gains strength from Lennon and her sunshine in his life. Lennon also grows throughout the story. She also gains strength from Ryker and she gets stronger and more determined to stand up for herself which is a great thing to witness.
“His romantic messages have kept me floating in bliss and I want to know what else he’s capable of. I want to see it all, hear his words, and hopefully Seek will let me.”
This is a unique love story, different from anything you will read. I don’t want to give much away, but you will know from the synopsis that this isn’t a simple straight forward love story. The differences in this story will keep you hooked and will keep you cheering and wishing harder than any couple before that these two make it and get their HEA. It’s not an easy ride for these two; the battles and demons they face in their life and in getting to know each other and trust each other is a struggle, but nothing worth fighting for comes easy.
How the hell did Harloe Rae make stalking sexy? Well she does it and then some! I had this book sitting on my Kindle for a few hours and I had to put my current book I was reading down so I can meet Ryker. I am soooo glad I did. I may have stayed up through the night, but he was so worth it. One of my favorite things that I love about the author are her words. If I need an escape she is my go to author to get it. Watch Me Follow was no exception. I got lost in the depths of Ryker. I felt the need to claim him as mine and maybe share bits with Lennon.
"Don't be afraid to fall with me." ~Lennon
Here's the deal. I loved everything about Watch Me Follow. From the cover all the way down to words on the pages. The characters were amazing and will have you wrapped up in their world. My favorite part was the unconditional love that you will read along with the story line. It makes you remember that there are no rules to love. It is freely given with no expectations. Ryker has demons that claw at him every minute of the day. Lennon has become his sunshine and calms the storm.
"The sun, it gives us light, but most importantly, it gives you to me." ~ Ryker
Gah! I am a puddle of goo over Ryker. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. There was nothing I could have asked for more in this story. This book will stay on my TOP FAVORITE for 2018. I know its early into the year, but once you know, well you know. A MUST READ to start off the year right!
I sat here for an hour debating over what to rate this, I was at war with myself, going backwards and forwards between 3 stars or just leaving it unrated, but decided on rating it 3 stars as you can see.
Most before me loved this book, I love obsessive stalkers like the next person but something just felt off with this book. To cheesy? To sickly sweet? To rushed? It even hindered me connecting with the characters, a line here or there would've been ok but it just seemed full of sentences that your typical male would not say. So I found myself really struggling with this one.
But looking at the high ratings surrounding me it could be that typical it's me not the book senario. I had such high expectations going into this, everything about the synopsis ticked all my boxes, the storyline to some degree pulled me in but then I became lost along the way. Please don't just go by my review come release day, give it a shot and form your own opinions because as I said many others really enjoyed this book.
Ryker life had been one big void of nothingness. He was bullied and made fun of - all because he was different. It all changed when Lennon - his sunshine - comes into his life.
Ryker was a super unique character. He can't be touched, he suffers from anxiety, he can't be near other people, he can't even hold a conversation. He is a recluse, and from the moment he met her - all his life is devoted to Lennon.
He spends a lot of time in his head, as he doesn't have any real friends. I usually don't like a lot of inner monologues in my books, but in this case, there's no other way to write him. And surprisingly, I really liked his thoughts.
They met in high school - she was the new girl and he was the outcast, the boy everyone bullied. He saved her from OM and ever since then, he felt compelled to protect her at any cost. That's how he became her stalker & secret admirer. It was so cute! The guy made me swoon left and right <3
The book was super sweet, so if you are like me and hesitate because you thought the book is dark - it's not the case at all. Ryker was perfect! He was a gentle giant and I simply LOVED the way he loved her! They were both sheltered and inexperienced, and I loved to experience all their “first times” along with them.
"Don't be afraid to fall with me."
Safety gang safe - They are both virgins.
P.S. - I really want someone to be as obsessed with me as Ryker had been with Lennon!
4.5 ⭐️
"ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review." :)
Before I begin, I want to say that I will give more of Harloe Rae's work a try in the future. I read this whole book in one sitting, and the writing style made that easy to accomplish. I love stalker novels, and I was really excited to read this one.
In the end, I think my enjoyment was hindered too much by my expectations. When I think of a stalker romance, I assume it's going to be dark or darkish.
If you love over the top, sweet romance, this one is for you!
Ok... let's be real honest here. If this was real life this man would definitely be in jail. But since this is fiction then All I can say that found this hero to be adorable, he was sweet, always protecting and watching the heroine. I loved him. Now the heroine even thought she was sweet and an ok heroine, when she finds out the truth about him stalking her she jumps on him, I kinda thought she was more crazy than him at least he came out looking like a sweet guy but her, she just comes across looking like she was needy for any company. I felt like anyone could have done it for her, it didn't matter if it was Ryker or Seeker because she didn't know Ryker was the one who was stalking her and leaving her presents. (Btw Seeker is Riker)
I devoured this book. It was really good. I will be stalking this author from now on for her next book. This was a story about obsession. I was very impressed that the author fleshed out the characters. Everything did not magically get better, the characters worked through their issues and evolved. I enjoyed being inside Ryker's head, and how everything turned out. The author tells us some women need a different kind of romance and I was in the mood for something different. Not as intense but equally good. This was a good book, and I enjoyed it.
I love a good premise, and Watch Me Follow has that to the nth degree. How can something so crazy, so taboo, as a man stalking a woman for years on end work out? This can never become right. Or... can it?
Clearly, it can, because Harloe Rae has made it into a beautiful thing! Once you delve into this taboo, you find two souls, two hearts, beating apart and out of sync with society. For Ryker, the world has revolved around Lennon for the last half a decade. By means of his genius, he's managed to hide his obsession, sure that he'd be scaring her, which is the last thing he wants for "his" Lennon.
Nothing can happen to her. Ryker has sworn to protect Lennon against all the evil in the world. He's been doing a damn good job at it too! But what he doesn't realize is he's been on her mind since high school too.
Out of fear that I'll spoil your fun, I'll cut this short here. Just know that you can't possibly conjure up a more romantic partner, a sweeter disposition, than the man you get to know in this stunning hulk of a hacker with crazy eyes.
One scarred young woman. One broken young man. When their hoods come off, their chemistry sizzles!
I pushed through it because I don‘t really like to dnf books, but at around 50 % I only skimmed the pages. I even regret doing this.
This was so over the top, I hardly ever read anything like this - and I did read my fair share of possessive, obsessive, unhealthy Heroes. And I am not even talking about the stalking here, I knew about it going into this book, although it was even worse than I expected. But putting aside that this was really really unhealthy and unbalanced I was prepared to take this story for what it was: fiction - and therefore enjoy it as it was. Stalker romances tend to be on the dark and gritty side, and witch is troubled past, especially the Hero could have been great crazy material - this was only fairies, flowers and unicorn farts. If done well, unicorn farts can be entertaining, too ...
But, good lord, it was so ridiculously cheesy, such a bad mixture of tropes I don‘t like, I can‘t even .... Hard to describe how I felt while reading this book - it was so horrifyingly sweet, I get a real bad tooth ache just thinking about it, in fact I think my inner reader self is now completely toothless, for all of them had really bad cavities. No really, I am not a fan of saccharine... but I can ignore it up to a certain point - simply because I have to, since it is everywhere in romance stories. This kind of saccharine can not be ignored, it drips like the sweetest honey ever from every single page and drowns the reader within seconds. *shuddering*
This kind of sickeningly sweet phrases combined with two MCs that have absolutely no self-confidence, are both virgins, are both in insta-love with each, drag themselves down constantly as well as stupid side characters, non existent, obvious plot, forced drama for the sake of drama, one of the blandest, most unrealistic doormat heroines ever and no character development at all, hell hardly any character building at all (which was such a shame, because the PREMISE of the book, namely him being a socially awkward outsider was so very promising) - it was so much, I could hardly take it.
It was absolutely safe and absolutely sweet and cheesy - I am sure readers, that don‘t have a problem with that, can really enjoy this books and I wish you a happy and flowery reading! But this was definitely not for me.
However, in the romance fiction world, it really really floats my boat when the Hero is a faithful stalker and very protective and the heroine actually likes the stalking, which was the case in this book. Hero is so freaking romantic and he’s a virgin as he doesn’t see anyone else except the heroine
Ryker has severe social anxieties that made him unable to pursue the heroine in the first few years so he just resorted to stalking her.
The heroine is so bland and the only good thing about her is that she’s apparently hot.
This one was OK if you don't mind all your teeth falling out from the OTT sugary sweet storyline. Also, there is a very fine line between sexy stalking and batshit crazy get a restraining order stalking. This dude WAY crossed the line into batshit crazy territory! *lol*
Ahh, I just loved this unique, exciting read. It's a book about obsession, and I really enjoyed being inside the mind of stalker Ryker as he followed and loved Lennon, seeing her in a way she couldn't see herself.
This is my second Harloe Rae book, and she has such a unique and engaging writing style, I hated having to put this book down to do work. (lol!)
Ultimately, it's a beautiful love story about finding the person who knows and loves you for who you are, quirks and all. And it's a little weird in the best way possible.
Lennon and Ryker's story was not a typical romance story. I found these two awkward characters good together and perfect for each other. I was rooting for them to find their own normal and their happily-ever-after the whole way through. Overall rating : 3.5 stars!
“Separately we were two broken halves, misunderstood and hopelessly waiting for someone to look beyond the jagged edges. Together we’ve defined a new normal-a beautiful life that’s vibrant and different and ours.”
I can now proudly say that I've finally finished this story. Not because it was bad, but because I don't have time to read books anymore, at least not the way I used to. I know, these are sad days. :(
As for what I think of the book, I think it's super sweet and it touches a more sensitive topic and that is psychical abuse. I felt bad for both main characters, since they both had to go through something no one should ever go through and that is to not have a free will to speak out and to be accepted as you are. Which is such a shame and it's still not talked about enough today. We all know what's on the news these days, so being repressed and ingnored can have a devastating impact on ones personality.
Anyway, back to the story. It's as said super sweet, almost at times too much for me. But overall it's a nice, cozy read that gives you those happy readers feelings. It's a wonderful journey that one should read, for sure.
Not for me. Yeah, I know this is fiction... But if a guy follows you around for four years, keeps hacking everyone around you and moves in next door, don't fall in love with him, call the cops.
Also, this was somehow disturbing but overly sweet? Just not my cuppa.
So....this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. This was a recommended read and new to me author, so I’m really happy I grabbed it and gave it a shot. Although it’s not what I expected, I’m up for reading more from this author.
Let’s dive in: Ryker and Lennon meet in high school. He’s been ostracized from everyone, but she notices him. Because of that he latches on to her and soon after grows obsessed. The good news is that he truly grows to care for her and he’s super sweet. The bad news is that he’s super sweet. Yep! You read that right.
I had a couple issues here. The first being that the recommendation I requested was for a sexy stalker. I’ll forego my long monologue on what a stalker should and shouldn’t be to discourage you guys from labeling me as a crazy person 😂😂 However, I don’t think this book fits that mold, although the main character definitely did have stalker tendencies. I would classify this as more of a mental or emotional subgenre than “stalker lit”. <---Totally made that up. Had there been more of an edge or grit, it may have gone better for me. The other issues relate to the characters and lack of dialogue between the two. Because of that, I didn’t connect with either of them in a meaningful way.
I think the premise is solid. The writing was good. So all in all, just okay. Again, I’ll try more books by the author in future.
This is one of those books that spoke to my soul. Ryker has to be one of the best men I’ve read so far this year. I know that we aren’t that far in, but he was just that amazing. His internal dialogue warmed my heart and made me swoon so hard. I know this is about both Ryker and Lennon, but this book to me was about Ryker over coming his past and being his amazing self. Lennon was kinda like Ryker, and seeing her come out of her shell, her loving Ryker, it made this book a masterpiece.
I could go on and on, with the amount of quotes that I had highlighted in this book, people would think I’m crazy, but I couldn’t help it. Like I said; it warmed my heart and just spoke to me.
This book as a whole is a poetic masterpiece that opened my eyes, made me swoon and root for these characters to get the happy ending that they deserved. I loved everything about it. This may have been my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. 5 stars #2OCCJD
I have mixed feelings right now. The behaviour IS stalking and not something I can condone. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the premise. I absolutely hated the heroine though. She was almost like a vanilla pudding!
I don't think you'll know what hit you with this one. The story is very unique and despite everything that went on it was still fairly uncomplicated as far as the romance aspect was concerned.
"I like to picture us as two oddly-formed shapes that no one can decipher, but together, we create something magnificent."
This right here is the perfect summary of Ryker and Lennon. Both so shy and private on their own but together they thrive.
"The darkness is strong, a mighty beast set on ruin, but the light of day is just as powerful, if not more so. She’ll be the one to prove it."
Both of them have their fair share of demons to fight off and it is definitely not an easy feat.
They'll need to put a lot of trust in one another before they can even think to properly start their lives together.
However, when you know you know.
Lennon and Ryker are two speckles of the universe that found each other in a sea of darkness and somehow reached the light.
What did I learn from this novel?
Against all odds and wherever you may be in life you'll always find your little ray of sunshine even if it takes you battling the darkest of storms to get there.
Watch me follow was a highly addictive read that I devoured within hours of getting the book.
Readers, please don't be afraid to try it out, I promise you that each and every one of you will learn something from this book.
There is something about Ryker that is utterly endearing. This hulking, sweet, shy, troubled man with a big brain and a bigger heart. But it was his protectiveness that really got to my heart. There is nothing he would put before keeping Lennon safe. The girl who stole his heart with a smile, the girl he saved when they were nothing but teenagers.
And years later he's still her shadow, keeping her shielded by the ugly of the world, by helping her while staying in the dark. Until she notices him.
Lennon was a character I related to on more than one level and I liked how she also set Ryker straight the few occasions when he stepped over the line. What I loved the most about her though was how she was completely accepting of him. Ryker's chronic anxiety, caused by his past, makes him one peculiar character, and hardly a conventional hero. Half the time he's struggling to be what he thinks Lennon deserves to be and not always he succeeds, at least from his point of view.
This book was my favorite by Harloe Rae for a number of reasons. I liked how perfect Ryker and Lennon were for each other. Neither of them quite fits in the world, let's be honest. She's naive and innocent and kind, and he's a loner, and outcast, and so pure. The world is too gritty for them. But together they exist in a universe of their own making. And it's beautiful.
Also, this one was a slow-burn and let me tell you, you could feel the tension burning between the two. Both of them have zero experience in the intimacy department, which made their first time even more special and endearing.
It was also less angsty than the previous books, even though it had some twists and turns especially at the end. But personally I liked how the author took her time, first introducing the characters, even if they were apart, and then getting them to know each other, do simple things. It was like seeing two people breathe for the first time. Two people realizing they didn't just want to survive this life, but live it at their fullest. And together they had found someone to share this crazy ride.
I'm struggling with my emotions right now. I don't believe a book has affected me quite the way this one has. I'm a snotty, teary mess right now which is making it difficult to type. You all know how I love my virgin heroes and even better if they cry for the h and this one hits the mark with that but on top of that, this H is also broken on the inside. Self doubt and hate running rampant inside of him until he meets the h in senior year of high school. I do believe this the the most obsessed H I've ever read about. -dual virgins -no cheating -only have eyes for each other -H is tormented and verbally abused his whole childhood -heartwrenching -dual POV -vulnerable but obsessed H
Question.. How can I be head over heels in love with a man that does not exist outside of a book or my mind???
Answer... No idea but Ryker is proof it can be done...unless I've finally just lost my ever lovin' mind.
I believe this book will be with me for some time. It's made its way to my top 5 favs of all time, maybe top 3 even. It's a very emotional story so be prepared. It's not light and fluffy but gawd, so good.
it was a sweet book and details about how Ryker's anxiety and that he saw Lennon as his sunshine bringing light when all the while he was living in darkness. steam factor was low but we got to see how Lennon fought for him. 4 stars, not as emotional but there were moments between them that i truly adored.
Could not finish because the heroine and how bland she was. One of my GR friends compared her to vanilla pudding but I would argue that and say she was more like brussel sprouts. At least vanilla pudding is palatable. Which is honestly a shame, because the H's point of view was written 4x better in my opinion. I found his character super interesting and refreshing but I couldn't get past the h and her banal and inert dialogue. And should I even bother complaint about the h's BFF, Lucy? God, I wish she wasn't a character at all.
I'm a literary diabetic. It means that too much sugar makes me sick, and the only cheese I love is in my food. Not my book. So I guess it was a total case of me not you.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* Harloe Rae has written another exceptional story and damn it I want more! I devoured this story in one day, which is almost unheard of when I am in the middle of a semester (being an adult really sucks sometimes). The moment I picked up this story I knew that I wasn't putting it down until I finished it from start to finish... Of course it didn't exactly happen this way, but I read until my eyes couldn't stay open anymore and the moment I woke up my eyes were glued to my kindle once again.
Watch Me Follow is a story with lots of heart and soul. I could feel the emotion radiating off of the pages and my heart was embraced wholeheartedly from the very beginning. Lennon and Ryker's story was so dimensional and I wasn't sure my heart could take it. This is the kind of story that will stick with me for awhile and I strongly recommend checking out this beautifully written piece of literature.
I can tell Harloe Rae put her heart and soul into this book! Her characters are so realistic, including their situations. My heart broke for Ryker and his past, but his love for Lennon was incredibly deep and passionate. Lennon, was shy and uncomfortable around people and men with her sheltered past. Fate brought them together in high school and years later Ryker never let Lennon out of his sight. He hides well and watches and protects, even using his tech savvy friend to help. They conquer a lot of firsts with each other and the evolvement of these two characters was beautiful to read. I also love how Ryker started opening up when he first showed who he was to Lennon and I loved seeing Lennon get a backbone and stick up to her parents who belittled her dreams of starting a fashion line. Harloe is growing into such a talented author and I can’t wait to see what else she comes up with!
