An exceptionally well-written thriller, about a group of retired service agents who decide to investigate the disappearance of a young woman, only to uncover a complex web of espionage and brutality. This character-based tale is intricate and vivid, and showcases wonderfully Pablo Palazuelo’s competencies as an author; he is certainly very high quality – talented, intelligent and stylish – and the translation of this book from his native Spanish to English is all-but flawless. A Detail-Heavy Thriller

3.5 out of 5 stars

I don't like to start out a review with a negative. There is always something that I like in a story.  But, with Never Too Late To Die my biggest issue was the beginning.  Palazuelo wrote an interesting book but it took too long to get into it.  Thankfully, I had some time this week with the holiday to really focus and get into the story -- but it just felt like he was explaining people that weren't even that important to the story.

I truly appreciated that the author put in the extra effort for this book to read smoothly, it didn’t feel like I was reading an English translation just a great story. We meet five friends who have been together for several years who get together for a poker game. A series of events begin that night that start with Louis meeting a beautiful young woman.
