"One Fate Befalls" written by T. F. Pruden was an interesting and very entertaining contemporary romantic fiction novel that held my attention from the intriguing opening pages.
I liked the author's style of writing and I especially liked how the story was told in alternating chapters of the then and now. I personally loved this style of storytelling as it allowed you to build up a picture of how Kate and Nick's relationship developed when they were young - whilst knowing from the start that the ...more

This is a contemporary romantic story which I recommend for the older reader. Kate is at her lonely home with her infant son. Her husband dotes on her but works out of town.
One day, Kate meets her long lost first love, Nick. They are forced to evaluate the choices they have made accepting responsibility for the failures and the suppressed hope. They are involved in a web of secrets with lies, substance abuse and sexual abuse. The book involves a lot of life events.

Not my usual type of book, although I kept with it. That's the beauty of Good Reads, you read books which you never consider reading or buying and then you come away with a different prospective . The characters are well developed and reflect how life is, middle age first loves and longing for new adventures.
