I almost asked myself, why isn’t everyone an influencer? But I already knew the answer to that: Because being an influencer is hard.

Everyone is an "Influencer" nowadays but are they really? You look on their feed and think "I can do this!" but can you? Honestly, it is exhausting how many "influencers" we have out there trying to make it "big". In Influencer Brittany Hennessy gives us play by play look into the world of influencers and what you can do to step your game up. While she offers prac

4.5 Easy to read, easy directions and written in understandable terms. Woot Woot ! becoming an influencer is a dream that I and many others have, getting there is not a natural thing. This is a new world and Ms. Hennessy walks us through it gently explaining each step with clear detailing. The relationships building, the contacts, the followers, all of it. I think any vlogger, blogger, online seller, online reviewer, social networker, would find great help between these covers. The book is well ...more

Although the book focuses a lot on digital influencers in the beauty, fashion and style industries, it shares valuable insights on how to navigate the brand development and business management hurdles of being an online personality (or just an everyday social media user). With the sort of experience she has had, Brittany certainly knows what she's talking about and I give her credit for taking the initiative to share that knowledge with anyone willing to read about it.

I saw the book Influencer, on a fellow book blogger's website. The review was so good that you could say I was 'influenced," by the blogger to purchase it! I am not a social media "influencer" in the sense that Hennessey is writing about; however, I am a book blogger and indie author. As a writer, I know just how important it is to take control of one's social media image. Although Hennesy's book is targeted toward lifestyle, fashion, parenting, travel, and beauty bloggers, she had lots of grea ...more

As a book blogger, vlogger and author, I was interested to see what Influencer had to offer in terms of advice on building my platform. Although this book is aimed more at those looking to broker partnerships with brands, it still has some useful advice and ideas on increasing followers and interactions, and getting your voice heard over the noise that is social media. I closed the book with a few new ideas on how to present content on my various channels, and between Hennessy's tips and comment ...more

Brittany spoke at a PW Tech Connect panel that I attended on behalf of the publishing company I work for, Familius. We are currently trying to grow our influencer marketing campaigns. Brittany’s book gave me great insight on the work that goes into building a personal brand and creating content. It is certainly one of the most comprehensive descriptions of the business of influencing that I’ve ever seen! This book will help me bring back key notes to my company about the specific benefits and st ...more

This book is very factual and objectively helpful. What it lacked for me is motivation and encouragement.

Instead of here is what a brand is looking for and how you can achieve it. I read it as, if you are not perfect at xyz you've already failed. It also makes it seem so easy to climb the ranks with a little hard work.

There are also a few points I disagree with, but it's hard as a microinfluencer to argue with an industry professional on the other side. Such as, you must have a blog. Aren't blo

If you are interested in becoming Instagram famous, give this a read! It was published in 2018, but it is still very relevant today. I have been creating content full-time since 2015, and there are MANY gems inside these pages. However, it is focused heavily on Instagram. I receive most of my website traffic from Pinterest and have over 1,000 blog posts so blogging and SEO are my top priorities over Instagram. I recommend this to new influencers focused on Instagram or those curious about the in ...more

I'm gonna go ahead and give this 5 stars in true Robert Ebert fashion. This isn't War & Peace 5 stars, it's a this-book-does-exactly-what-it-promises-to-do (and then some) 5 stars. And that's a rarity in bookdom. Some books give the idea away in the first chapter, making the rest of it just repetitive filler. Influencer has actionable tips all the way through. My 72 highlights and notes are a testament to that. Highly recommended. ...more

I must admit that I only got about 15% into the book, so this review may not be the best one to judge if this book would be helpful for you. The reason I decided not to finish reading the book, however, is because I did not find the approach helpful to me.

I do believe that there are a lot of helpful tips in the book for those who would like to be influencers and make money doing it, but I didn't like all the "shoulds" and "have tos". Even though you already have a vlog, you should also have a bl

This is more for people who have lifestyle, beauty or fashion influencers and basic business acumen of how to network well; respond to emails, read contracts etc. Not as helpful if you have a niche product/area.

I think the rating that I gave this book really depends on my personal past experience. I have been a blogger since 2018 and many of the tips were familiar or just assured my existing knowledge. I also studied law for an academic year and skipped that part, because I know the basics already. Also, some things do not apply to me in my country in terms of the law.

Still, I expected the book to teach me more how to increase my following through my personal brand, but it was more about sales to a br

First, for the bad. I thought this would be a lot different than what it was in many ways.

The title promises that you will learn to build your brand on Social Media. It does not tell you that it focuses primarily on Instagram and talks about virtually no other platform. It does not say that if you have less than 100,000 Instagram followers, and especially if you have less than 25,000 followers, you will not be able to use any of these tactics. It does not help you figure out how to get to even

I mostly read this book because it was $1.99 on Amazon, but it was actually quite a fascinating anthropological read. I had NO idea of the kind of work influencers put into their posts and how much goes on behind the scenes. I also appreciated the feminist lens this is written through - it had also not occurred to me what a female-driven industry influencing is. Made me think of all this in a different light.

Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand in the Age of Social Media by Brittany Hennessy won’t be for everyone but if you are active on social media – or are even just interested in how big-time social media moguls make it work behind the scenes – you’ll find lots of valuable takeaways here. An “influencer” in this case is someone who has a large and dedicated following on social media; significant enough to be able to make money or even live off of their content creation. There is a lot of focu

This is a whole gem of a book for anyone looking to up-level their brand online.

I've listened to the audiobook twice and may do so once again to continue to parse all of the knowledge that this author, Brittany Hennessy, has shared from her experiences in influencer marketing at Hearst Media.

In this age of digital media, influencer marketing has become a lucrative business and a viable, potentially well-paying career option for many. Into this world, Brittany Hennessey - a marketer talent agent has penned this book: a how-to guide of sorts to becoming and maximising earnings as an influencer.

Key Takeaways

In the digital space, an influencer is a person with social currency with high levels of engagement and will propel his or her followers to act in a particular way; mostly to make purchases.

Although the label "influencer" has developed a negative connotation over the last couple of years, no one can dispute that it is a lucrative income stream. Based on her experience as the first-ever Senior Director of Influencer Strategy and Talent Partnerships at Hearst Magazines Digital Media, Brittany Henn

I borrowed this book from my public library because I was interested in learning about everything involved with being an 'influencer' on social media. Contrary to popular belief, an #influencer is someone on social media that has a relatively large following. 10,000 to 24,999 followers is considered a micro-influencer. 25,000 to 49,999 followers is the collaboration stage when a person collaborates with other influencers. 50,000 to 100,000 followers is when an influencer starts to approach other ...more

I have already recommended this book. It's better than many I've read in the sea of getting follower fast schemes. It's far more thoughtful because unlike people that might have chanced upon the answer, this woman is actually an agent for companies looking to understand who is worth paying for

I was hoping for a sober, researched take on this burgeoning industry. Instead this appears to be written by a person unwilling to step outside her role hiring from a specific group of female beauty influencers to work on partnerships with her specific publisher for her specific brand partners.

I'm shocked the publisher didn't push her to do even a little bit of research outside her sphere.

Chapters are full of her advice for aspiring influencers which often boil down to her pet peeves and how t

4.5 stars - This is a great guide for what to and not to do in order to get your blog or vlog well-positioned for brand partnerships. It's not about how to build an audience, but how to orchestrate things so that you are attractive to companies who wish to create a mutually beneficial relationship with you based on the audience you've already attracted.

I especially appreciated the insider's prospective and interview insights Influencer offers. If you're an experienced v/blogger who has a signifi
