4.5 Easy to read, easy directions and written in understandable terms. Woot Woot ! becoming an influencer is a dream that I and many others have, getting there is not a natural thing. I saw the book Influencer, on a fellow book blogger's website. The review was so good that you could say I was 'influenced," by the blogger to purchase it! Although the book focuses a lot on digital influencers in the beauty, fashion and style industries, it shares valuable insights on how to navigate the brand development and business management hurdles of being an online personality (or just an everyday social media user). With the sort of experience she has had, Brittany certainly knows what she's talking about and I give her credit for taking the initiative to share that knowledge with anyone willing to read about it.

First, for the bad. I thought this would be a lot different than what it was in many ways.

The title promises that you will learn to build your brand on Social Media. It does not tell you that it focuses primarily on Instagram and talks about virtually no other platform. It does not say that if you have less than 100,000 Instagram followers, and especially if you have less than 25,000 followers, you will not be able to use any of these tactics. First off, over all, this was an excellent book. I have to rate it five stars because it was well-written, easy to understand, and clearly penned by someone who really knows the industry. Personally however, it wasn't as useful as I expected. Before reading this book, I didn't know "influencer" was an actual thing, as in, an actual job that people do, that has corporate departments dedicated to it, that moves hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.

I have a confession to make. I'm not a vlogger, blogger or youtuber. However I love reading people's blogs and am a fan of a number of larger youtubers videos. So basically I just don't know whether I am the target market for this book or not!!

No fluff here. This book is a concrete instruction manual for someone wanting to become an Instagram influencer, with a clear focus on female fashion writers. Take beautiful photos, build a following, and then carve out a portion of your feed for sponsored posts that allow you to try out expensive stuff and make money.

Obviously the short length of the book required the omission of a lot of generic Instagram advice: how to get more followers, choose hashtags and filters, get a great image, etc -

Too many times, I've seen 'how to' books written by the influencers themselves and while some of them are quite good, it's invaluable to understand how the other side, the Brand, views these relationships. Influencer is a fun entree into this world of influence, possibility, and potential for money and collaboration. Brittany gives some great practical tips for how to setup your influencer page, be it on Instagram, Facebook. personal blog or other social media channel. I wish there was more on this “building” phase in the book, since that is where I believe most people who are reading this book will be.

Brittany Hennessy wrote a straight-forward “blueprint” on the business of Influencer Marketing that covers creative, legal, & business topics. It is a great resource for anyone interested in becoming an influencer or simply curious about what it takes to be one.

I absolutely loved this book for the many tips, tricks and honest information. The information is toped up with influencer insights: real influencers talking about their experiences. Damn! Such amazing knowledge being shared. It is literally as if you bought a $200 ticket to a massive influencer convention and got to hear 50 key note speakers – but then in a $15 book.

Is this worth a buy? Yes. Bloggers should definitely add this book to their collection.

It's a good good, a small quick book that covers details mostly on make-up and beauty influencers. Some material from other influencers was good to see, and how a blog plays a part in driving more backlinks, SEO, etc.

My only gripe, is the over-dramatization of the author's self-worth. Yes, she does carry a big name for herself, but at times she writes as if others should drop everything at a heartbeat because she writes a request for them (her email stating to be flown out for 5 figures, meet AS

The focus of this book is on the ins and outs of how to build your brand from the ground up in order to commercialize it (i.e. make a business out of it). Borrowed this because my company is doing a marketing push and WOW influencers are way less organic than I thought (at least in the US, in Singapore I don't think they're as organised, although it is earning money). This was a well detailed how-to guide on how to be a successful (non-celebrity) influencer. It was recommended to me as having a lot of great tips for social media. I follow some people on youtube, and when one started talking about how youtube changed their algorithm and she lost revenue, I wanted to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes. This book really helped. It’s well written, a quick read, and an eye-opener. And I can safely say I will never be an “influencer”. More power to all those working really hard to do so.
