Book boyfriends only exist in books, right? Wrong. After a string of failed relationships, Zara Hennessy has given up on love. Eager to start a new chapter in his life, he travels to the UK where he eventually crosses paths with a beautiful and badass real-life heroine. Meeting Jackson a few weeks before his six-month working visa is due to expire is a cruel plot twist that Zara never saw coming. Will they find their happy ever after or are they both destined for a series of heartbreaks?
***The Book Boyfriend is inspired by actual events. Please note that this is a short story, not a full-length novel. It is intended to be a fast-paced, fun and flirty read.***
Karli Perrin is an English Language and Linguistics graduate from Manchester, England. She has always been a big lover of books (and pizza) and was inspired to write her debut novel back in 2013. She is a huge believer of fate and is a sucker for a happy ending. Her ultimate goal in life is to live in a house made entirely out of books with her husband and four kids. ...Velaris is plan B.
What makes a bookaholic a bookaholic? Having an out of control TBR? Getting exctited about new books from your favorite authors? Fangirling over them? Stalking them on social media? Buying ALL their books? Attending book signings and hoping to get ALL the books signed and personalized by your favorite authors? Treating your books like they were made out of glass? Obsessing over book boyfriends? All of the above. Halle is a true bookaholic. Halle is literally all of us:
"I love my sister but when it comes to books, she can turn a little crazy. Who am I kidding? She turns batshit crazy. Jekyll and Halle crazy. Last night, I watched as she wrapped every single one of her books in cling film and then bubble wrap."
I loved how Karli Perrin lovingly teased the entire book community with Halle's book obsessed character. And Karli is right, we all have a problem, because we all are bookaholics.
Zara's encounter with handsome and sexy Jackson Pierce is hilarious and cute all at once. It's obvious that both are attracted to one another from the start, but Zara wants nothing to with an arrogant guy like him. But there is more to Jackson than his looks and being a book boyfriend. He is determined to win Zara over with his charm.
"Long distance might not work but we will."
The story and the characters in this novel are great but due to the book being a short story and only 54 pages long not very detailed. I don't mean this in a negative way, it's just a fact I wanted to mention, so that you won't be disappointed about the non existing character depths in the end. I don't think it was the author's intention to create a deep story anyway: I think her goal with The Book Boyfriend was to create a simple, cute, fun, and swoon-worthy story for all of us romance/NA bookworms. It was kind of 'tribute' to us - at least I feel that way. If you're in between books and don't know what to read, I definitely recommend this short story. Plus, it's currently on free on Amazon!
"I look around and finally understand why Halle loves coming to these events so much. The atmosphere is like nothing I've ever experienced before. It's not just a book signing; it's a gathering of like-minded people. It's a place where you can truly be yourself and make lifelong friendships while bonding over the things you love the most."

OMG!! What a freaking fun and cute story!! Review to come!
3 stars - was cute and flirty. I could’ve seen this easily become a full book. Loved that this took place over a weekend during a nook signing in Manchester.
This was so cute! A great short story to spend a few moments getting lost in and totally relatable for book nerds! 😍 Definitely will be checking out more of this author’s books! Her dialogue skills are on point!
Very cute and quick read. I love the idea of falling for a cover model and I wish it had been longer because I would love to see more from these characters.
The heroine has to attend a book signing with her sister since her sister's friend bailed on her. The heroine isn't a bibliophile, but she goes and there she meets our hero, which is a cover model.
This author's writing truly makes you wish her novellas were full novels instead. This isn't an exception. There are moments where the corny dialogues or scenes can make my eyes roll , but still I enjoyed them and love the potential in those short stories!
If you need something short, quick, fun and relatable, because you'll definitely relate as a booklover with the heroine's sister and generally the bookish event vibes will make you smile, because you can relate to that 100% :)
What do you do while you're impatiently waiting to sign at Four Brits Book Fest 2017? You write a book about it, obviously. I had so much fun writing Zara and Jackson's little story. Let me know if you would like to see more of them!
I laughed along with this book, such a fun read by Karli Perrin.
A must read for book enthusiasts because yes we are an odd but fabulous breed and especially if you have been to a book signing. You will not get through this and not chuckle.
It's cheesy, it's not meant to be serious, I loved that Karli wrote this for readers attending a book signing.
Zara who is a none reader draws the short straw when her sister who is a book enthusiast needs her help at a book signing after her friend drops out as her helper. So off Zara goes, dragged along with her sister's big tolley in towe and bubble wrapped books.
I laughed at some of the scenes. The book boyfriend is a fun read.
You get Zara's thoughts throughout as she's given orders by her sister.
"One of the things I've quickly learned about book signings - you que up. A lot. It's like Disney world on crack"
The last place Zara wants to be is the first place she falls in love.
I Loved it! a short read and good taster of Karli Perrins writing and I am looking forward to reading more from her.
Yes, for a very short book - I am giving this 5 stars because Karli has me intrigued and wanting more!!
Karli - you little tease!! LOL
The Book Boyfriend is short, fast-paced read.
Karli has me loving Jackson and Zara already and I need to know where their story goes.
I love how they meet and what becomes of them in a very short time. I am not an insta-love fan but Karli definitely has me itching to find out where these two love birds go in the future.
“A few? Try one hundred and nineteen. I counted. You need to be put on a book buying band.” She gasps. “Don’t even joke about that kind of thing.”
This story is short, sweet & so much fun! I really enjoyed the plot line, and how it was inspired by true events. I’d love to see more from these characters!!
There’s no denying it, anyone who’s ever been to a book signing can relate to Karli Perrin’s ‘The Book Boyfriend’ and yes, maybe we are all a little bat sh*t crazy. I loved this short read, it was funny and sweet, the characters and the storyline were easy to relate to. My first, but definitely not my last Karli Perrin Read.
This was cute but it would have been much better if it was a longer novella or even a novel. The plot had a lot of potential for a full book. I wanted to read more.
Zara Henessy helped out her sister in a book signing event after her friend cancelled on her. She thought she’d just be lining up along with other bookworms in front of an author’s table. She and her sister Halle have planned and prepared for this a million time. What she didn’t expect however, was that handsome cover model intently looking at her.
Jackson Price was everyone’s dream boyfriend. Every bookaholic wanted a piece of him and his handsome face and hot body. When her ex-girlfriend wrote a book about their doomed love affair, he became The Book Boyfriend.
Whew! That was such a rollercoaster experience! And for someone who easily gets dizzy and faints a lot, I sure am having a great time with this book!
Where do I begin? Oh right, let me start by saying this, Karli Perrin, you rock my world!! {Okay, now I sound cheesy}. But seriously, Karli, I think you just described me as Halle in this story. I am exactly like Halle the bookworm/bookaholic/bibliophile however you want to call it. Everything Halle did in this book is what I’d been doing for years. (Except for the bubble wraps and the book signing – I’ve only been to one event with a particular author and it was awesome!) I go crazy about book releases, cover reveals, arranging bookshelves twice a week, reading at least two books at the same time, {I even have a separate book that I read in the bathroom, because yes, I love the solitude}. I’m glad my husband tolerates my tendency to go gaga over book boyfriends, he says he don’t consider them as competitions.
Anyway, back to The Book Boyfriend… I agree with Zara here, Jackson Price was indeed kind of annoyingly arrogant, but with all his sexy banters and sexual innuendos, I find it hard to despise him. In fact, I found him adorably cocky. Absurd, right? Well, you can all throw your books at me, but I’m still smitten by Jacks Price so just deal with it.
This has been a real short story but every page is all worth it. Love Halle from the start, love Zara for being a good sister and love Jackson for being that book boyfriend everyone dreams of. Love Karli Perrin too!
Perrin is a new to me author, and this was such a fun novella!
I love going to book signings, so this was the perfect storyline to grab my attention. I really enjoyed the characters, and Perrin's descriptions of the signings, the preparation for them, and the pressures that accompany them were absolutely spot on! This is great read for book lovers and anyone looking for a short and sweet romance. I look forward to reading more of her works!
I can't remember the last time I laughed so much with a book (and in such a short time)! This has to be a record! Truth be told I didn't get to the point where I was crying from laughing so much, but this book is freaking hilarious! And that ending, don't even make me (let me, actually) go there.
I literally downloaded this book and read it straight away....and OH MY GOD I am so glad I did, it is unbelievable brilliant and I could have been so reading about myself. I laughed the whole way through this book, it’s just so funny as what your reading is just so true.....
Karli has again produced a book that is LAUGH OUT LOUD funny and the characters are absolutely FANTASTIC and I can not stress enough how much everyone needs to read this book, definitely deserves 5 ⭐️...to be honest it deserves more....
Well done Karli in such a fantastic book....and it had my name in it 😁
If you’re a fan of a nicely paced , short story length read, with bookish references galore you’re in the right place.
If you’re also a fan of a snarky sassy heroine & a button pushing, swoony hero - whose written chemistry is predominantly verbal with only suggested “happy fun time”, then one-click your finger off, this read’s for you.
I really enjoyed it, and to be honest... I’m hoping for more of this couple.
A fab little read from Karli Perrin set at the UK signing Four Brits Book Fest 17! How cool is that?? It was full of Karli’s signature style of laugh out loud moments and super sexy scenes. Perfect for when you just need a quickie ;)
Gahhh this book I flipping love it! Short and sweet and funny...i could read a full novel about these two...every one should read this novella... It's a must!! I give this book 5 awesomely amazing stars *****
