Steven Manchester puts into words the magic of giving, caring, sharing and love with THE THURSDAY NIGHT CLUB AND OTHER STORIES OF CHRISTMAS SPIRIT. You’ feel the warmth of the Season in his well-chosen, heartfelt words and the stories he has created. Written with his usual from-the-heart style, this short read packs a solid punch to the soul, as a reminder that although the Christmas season is a time for giving, every day of the year is a good time to stay in practice.

This is a collection of three long-ish short stories which will re-ignite your warmer Christmas feelings. The Thursday Night Club tells of a group of college students who meet each week, often to enjoy a laugh, which prompts a competition for the biggest prank. Their undergrad humour is fairly corny but after a tragedy, they up the stakes and compete to do good.

A Christmas Wish centres on a family, headed by a wise old grandmother, Mama. One grandchild was not expected to walk or talk

Every once in a while an author comes along who writes novels that are so powerfully compelling, poignant, and thought provoking, that they pull at the heartstrings and stir the soul. For me, that author is Steven Manchester and his latest Christmas Novella Collection, The Thursday Night Club and Other Stories of Christmas Spirit.

Izzy and Ava host a weekly Thursday Night Club get-together with Jessie Cabral, Ava, Randy and Kevin. They’re College Senior students who work hard at their studies and play just as hard, goofy friends who love nothing better than a good prank on each other, harmless fun that lightens their work load. Some have risen from poverty and are paying their tuition by the skin of their teeth but they don’t focus much on the hardship part of it all. They are loyal to each other and beyond that focusing ...more

By Steven Manchester

Author Steven Manchester dons the hat of Father Christmas to bring the world his messages of selfless giving; the true spirit of the Christmas season.

The first of this collection is, The Thursday Night Club. A tale of honoring the memory of a beloved friend by giving selflessly to others. A group of college friends meet weekly on Thursday nights. They gather on the front porch sharing food, drinks and stories of hig

This is a nice book filled with three unique short stories that speak to the true spirit of Christmas in various ways. I felt like the stories got progressively better as the book went on in terms of how touching they were and how engaged I felt in them. At first I was a little confused when I started on the second story “A Christmas Wish” because I could’ve sworn I was reading Goodnight, Brian, which is also by Steven Manchester. It had been awhile since I’d read that book, which happens to be ...more

With The Thursday Night Club, Steven Manchester once again used his magic pen and conjured a book that will touch you heart and soul.

We had previously seen the The Thursday Night Club, but reading it again left with the same deep feelings of love and magic that I felt before. It clearly illustrates how giving of yourself is the best gift ever. It not only pleases the recipient but also the giver. In The Thursday Night Club, we meet five friends who try to get together every Thursday night. When

This is a wonderful collection of Christmas novellas, perfect to lead into the season. I had read The Thursday Night Club before and fuller story about Brian called Goodnight, Brian. The third story was new to me. I believe the description of the book doesn’t need to be repeated but praise for the first story most certainly does. I have been a fan of Steven’s books for quite a while and have reviewed all I have read. The Thursday Night Club really reflects Steven’s spiritual side as well as his ...more

If you follow my blog and/or reviews, you know that I'm a BIG fan of Steven Manchester having read the majority of his books (please see list below). I originally read and reviewed this book Dec. 20th, 2016, see my review HERE. However, since that time it has been republished with a new novella, THE TIN-FOIL MANGER.

Have read other works by this author and have enjoyed them all immensely.
This collection of holiday stories will reach age group. Talks of times when things were simpler and not as commercialized as the holidays are today.
Love memories of visiting the shrine with all the lights, right at dusk and everything goes quiet as the lights go on. Slow down and enjoy the reason for the season.

Thursday Night Club: What would Jesse do? Although there’s sadness, there’s also much beauty in this novella. I grew to love these friends and began to wish I were part of their Thursday night club.

Then I realized I can be a part of the group, as you can also. You’ll figure out how as you are reading this story.

With each short story within this collection I learn something new. My eyes open to new traditions, history I didn’t know, and a story that pulls at my heart. The theme of Christmas is great but in truth these are great books to read anytime. Steven Manchester has an amazing talent of taking a story, weaving in some lessons, and then tying it all together beautifully.

If you haven’t read any books by Steven Manchester or just a few then this collection of novellas by him is a good introduction to his style of heartfelt storytelling. No subject is off limits and you can always learn something from his books. Included are 3 Christmas stories. As a side bonus in The Tin-Foil Manger is information on various ways different countries celebrate the day. A year ago I read The Thursday Night Club and enjoyed it. I decided when Steven sent me this book to reread it. It was just as good the second time.

The other two stories were just as good as The Thursday Night Club. They were perfect for this busy time of year - short, meaningful and a reminder of the reason for the season. They made me stop for a minute, relax and think about what is really important.

Thank you Steven for writing such heartfelt characters and stories.

I just finished reading Steven Manchester’s newest book. As the name implies, it is a collection of three, modern day, heartwarming short stories involving the true Christmas spirit. Each has a unique, individual message to relay and they all bring forth the genuine meaning of the holiday.

As in all of Mr. Manchester’s previous books, his characters have depth and are very human. Any one of them introduced in the stories could be someone that you know in your own life. You become emotionally inve

This season we were graced with another release from one of favorite Fiction authors, Mr. Steven Manchester. The title featured here is a collection of three novellas, two released previously on their own and the third being a new pen. While some have connections to his other works (case in point, A Christmas Wish is actually an add on of sorts to Goodnight, Brian), they can all be read as is and enjoyed to the fullest.
