I am still laughing and swooning over this newest historical romance from the ever-delightful Julie Lessman! Liberty is a pistol and a half, a feisty heroine who is nothing if not persistent and opinionated. But at the same time she has a heart just like all of us, easily wounded and in need of tender care.

Enter Finn.

Finn and Liberty set off their own fireworks extravaganza every time they share the same space, partly because they can’t stand each other and partly because they’re crazy about eac

A little too much physical attraction between the two main characters for a historical romance. Other than that it would have been a cute story with lots of humor. Really not what I expected though for Christian Fiction.

This prequel was so much fun to read! Griffin McShane and Liberty O’Shea had plenty of hard headedness between the two of them, yet were characters I couldn’t help but like. The author did a good job of creating a backstory for them that helped me truly feel the frustration that they both carried for the other. Hurts from the past tangled with attraction that was always simmering under the surface.

Whether battling for control over the upcoming Independence Day festivities or battling their growi

If you’ve ever read Julie Lessman, this read will be quite familiar. He’s a rogue. She’s a spitfire. There will be hip slacking and lots of mercy! It’s a fast read and it’s cute. I only gave it three stars because it’s so predictable.

Sweet thunderation, this book was all I hoped it would be! It is ALMOST (not quite but almost, as one other book-also by Julie Lessman-holds the title for most favorite!) my favorite novella. This book drew me in instantly, caccooned me in fuzzy, warm feelings, making me feel like I had come home after a long vacation. This novella is filled with sweet characters, inspirational messages of hope and longing, and some fun loving, bull headed banter between characters that will sweep you off your f ...more

For the Love of Liberty is a wonderful book. The plot moves fast and the romance sizzles on the page between Finn and Liberty. The one thing that sets Lessman apart from every other romance writer in my humble opinion is her ability to jump into the male's perspective too. And it reads correctly too. Male are visual with their emotions. Sometimes romance writers get that wrong and it bothers me, but not Lessman. She really brings the male side to life too. I enjoy how the setting, even being in ...more

A spunky western romance from Julie Lessman! It had all the "spark" and humor I expect from her stories plus a fun setting --- this is her first western! The ending came too soon.... the characters were just starting to work things out. But, I know this is a prequel novella and I'm excited to see where this story (and relationship) will pick up in the first book.

I think this is the first I have read from Ms. Lessman. What a spit-fire novella! I loved the banter and the ending! What an ending...I'm still laughing...

Swoon! Julie Lessman has done it again! She’s managed to create two crazy characters that you can’t help but love, and a situation that is anything but simple. Just when you think she can’t surprise you anymore, she surprises you. As always, she has managed to create a work of art that captures your heart and soul. I can’t wait to see what happens in the first book of the Silver Linings Ranch series. I’m sure it’ll be anything but a smooth ride, filled with heart wrenching breakups, swoon-worthy ...more

This started out so fun and promising, but ended just awful. No sense of them appreciating each other until he kissed her, then it was nothing but sparks and jealousy and dishonesty.
Nope, not for me.

Good story, wished for a little more from the characters and plot. Maybe the next book will fix that..? Not sure how to feel about the ending either.

Still planning to read the series though.
A fun and flirty introduction to Lessman's new series! I enjoyed the sneak peak into Book 1 and look forward to its' release! As always reading one of Julie's books is a pleasure!

Oh, my goodness! I LOVE these two main characters and their fire for each other! Clearly, they have a lot of growing to do, which I suspect will happen in the first full-length novel in this series, but what an introduction! I thankfully own the next book, so I'll just keep reading . . .

During Atlanta’s surprise snow storm I read and ENJOY For Love of Liberty. Author Julie Lessman shows readers another side of her writing style in this delightful western I had so much fun reading. I sensed a freedom and a joy bubble up through the pages. A freedom Liberty and Finn had at the end of the book; which will surprise readers.

Finn’s friend says to Liberty, “…Back in school, I’ve seen you madder than a wet hornet with a headache when Finn and I pulled some crazy stunt to drive you cra

FOR LOVE OF LIBERTY is pure Julie Lessman: high drama and emotion, some humor, a fiery redhead and a handsome rogue who argue for most of the book, when they aren't passionately kissing. Liberty O'Shea knew Griffin "Finn" McShane since they were in school. Though Finn was three years older, they were fierce competitors and he loved to torment her. Now twenty-two, Libby is back in Virginia City, Nevada after several years at a college in the East. Finn is back in town too, now the director of the ...more

"Fire is a precious commodity, young man, . . . . handle it carefully and it will keep you warm the rest of your life."

Griffin "Finn" Alexander McShane has fire in his eyes and temper in his veins; Liberty "Libby" Margaret O'Shea has gotten under his skin ever since they competed during spelling bees back in grade school. Now the gorgeous grown up version has come back to Virginia City, Nevada and weaseled her way into his railroad office; with a pen and paper, no less.

This was definitely 5 stars for a sweet little novella, which I loved that it came out before Book 1. The hatred, competition, and resentment flies just about as high as the inner love these two have for each other. Liberty O’Shea and Griffin McShane have bantered back and forth since they were little, and held each other in their eyes (and possibly hearts) just as long. But when Liberty arrives back in town after graduating from Vassar, do the sparks – and fireworks really start to fly. Being c ...more

Recommends it for: Those who do and don't appreciate passion. You will after this. You'll also laugh and love.
#1 This is a long review, so pull up a chair and grab a bowl of popcorn. You'll be here awhile. #2 When I read a review, I want substantial information. So I will not skimp on the details. Which will mean some spoilers, so watch out.

Have I ever mentioned how much I adore enemies-to-lovers romances?
I haven't? You're kidding!
Well, it's pretty obvious. So far, my two full-length novels are totally enemies-to-lovers--as in the characters hate each enough to, literally, kill them--and my ne

I Loved reading Liberty and Finn’s Story. Both are very smart, very good looking and can not seem to stand each. Liberty is alway trying to win and beat Finn in whatever they are doing. And Finn always seems to be picking on Liberty. This was a great story with a lot of arguing between Liberty and Finn along with funny times. There were also many moments that I found warming my cheeks from the sweetness and innocence of it all that somehow still managed to contain so much passion. Julie Lessman ...more

When you find yourself grinning the entire way through a book and hate to put it down, you know it's a good one!

I've been a fan of Julie Lessman's books for years, and this one did not disappoint. Full of romantic tension, this prequel to her newest series has me on edge, waiting for the series to be released.

“For Love of Liberty” is the prequel novella to Julie Lessman’s new series, Silver Lining Ranch, and despite my not being a huge fan of novellas, I quite enjoyed this one! Ms. Lessman is one of my very favorite authors, so my opinion may be slightly biased, since I can’t help but enjoy her stories. And this one definitely was not the exception! She brings her characters to such vivid life, until it seems as though I’m standing right beside them, listening to the shouting matches and eating Mrs. ...more

There's usually a bit of trepidation when an author ventures into a new genre but I didn't think for a single second that Julie wouldn't deliver another amazing story despite it being a different setting. And of course I was right! I absolutely adored every second of this prequel!

The fireworks were flying of the page and it was the best thing ever! To say that Liberty O'Shea and Finn McShane butted heads would be the understatement of the century. They both had fiery tempers that seemed to come

Julie Lessman has again written a book that had my attention from the first page! For Love of Liberty is a prequel for her new Silver Lining Ranch series, and this short story has me more than ready to read the story of others at Silver Lining Ranch!! :)

When Liberty O'Shea returns home from Vassar, she never imagined she's be working so closely with her High School nemesis Griffin McShane. But, in order to land her dream newspaper job, she has to co-chair the annual Fourth of July events for her

WOW! Fireworks from the beginning of this book all the way to the last page!

Julie Lessman has done it again….a sweet historical romance filled with passionate fireworks between a fun couple. For Love of Liberty features heroine Liberty Margaret O’Shea and hero Griffin Alexander McShane. The two former schoolmates clash when Liberty (Libby) returns to Virginia City, Nevada, to work as a journalist for the local newspaper, writing an unflattering story about the railroad Griffin (Finn) now directs

Okay folks. I've made no small secret about my obsession for all things Julie Lessman. She is, without a doubt, my favorite Christian fiction writer after Francine Rivers. Truly. She's that good. I just loveeeee her.

I had the opportunity to review her most recent book: For Love of Liberty which is actually a prequel novella that she was writing for her new Western historical series entitled Silver Lining Ranch. Well, it was supposed to be a novella, and it ended up becoming more of a short novel

It seems not even age could settle the attitudes of now grown Liberty O’Shea and Griffin McShane. These two have been at each other’s throats since childhood, and being co-chairmen of the July 4th town celebration is no different. Liberty and Griffin end up back in their home town of Virginia City, Nevada. She a newspaper reporter and he director of the railroad, fireworks fly as the two of them try to come to terms with how this celebration will come to pass!

First, isn't that cover just the cutest?? It looks like Ms. Lessman was imported onto the cover.

This story starts off with a bang. A fiery read head, a schoolmate who teased her, and a town's fourth of July celebration causing the two to work together. You can just imagine the fireworks! And Ms. Lessman capitalizes on each and every one of them!

This novella is a fun, swoony romantic start to her new series, Silver Lining Ranch. I may not have red hair, but I saw so much of myself in Liberty. Sh

What an enjoyable read from author Julie Lessman. This book is a prequel to her new Silver Lining Ranch series. It starts with Miss Liberty O'Shea and Mr. Griffin McShane butting heads since they were children in school vying for champion of the spelling bee, the science fair, etc. Now, as adults and with Liberty back from college in New York, they are butting heads again as co-chairpersons for Virginia City, Nevada's 4th of July celebration.
