What Happened to Bernie Sanders

For the first time, the definitive answer to the relative disappearance of Bernie Sanders and his political revolution in our new Trumpocracy.

One year into Donald Trump’s presidency, the US 2016 presidential election is still being fought by both parties. As the case of Russian hacking and collusion is investigated, and Hillary Clinton desperately attempts to explain “What Happened” to her and why she lost, a more important question, one haunted by shadowy tactics and campaign double-dealing, rings out: What happened to Bernie Sanders?

Jared H. Beck, Esq., the lawyer suing the Democratic National Committee and Debbie Wasserman Schultz for collusion and fraud?for conspiring as a whole to make sure Hillary Clinton was the Democratic presidential candidate?has now written the book on what truly transpired during the Democratic primaries and National Convention.

What Happened to Bernie Sanders? is organized in sections:

Democracy Demands the Truth

Stories with No Fingerprints

A Bankrupt Institution

Rule of Law Demands Consequences

Using uncovered documents and other primary sources, Beck shows that Bernie Sanders lost to Hillary Clinton because he never had a chance to win. He illustrates how a web of forces, emanating from elite interests through the mainstream media and Democratic political establishment, and fronted by the Democratic National Committee, operated to ensure that Clinton would secure the nomination. The story of the 2016 Democratic primaries is not one of being “stronger together” or “making America great again”; it is one of how corruption has critically eroded America’s political institutions to the point of crippling democracy itself.

Jared Beck believes in a "rigged process", back in the 2016 Democratic primaries, to favor Hillary Clinton. He had an "opportunity" (for a "transformative moment"); but lost it.

A detailed assessment of the case against the DNC and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz written by the prosecuting attorney in the actual case. Beck, with experience in class action lawsuits and a Bernie Sanders activist, provides the details he has collected as prosecuting attorney in the DNC fraud lawsuit. His claim is that the DNC and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, in violation of the Democratic Party Charter, knowingly committed fraud against Democrat voters in order to ensure that Hillary Clinton, whose campaign was essentially also running the DNC, was the eventual nominee. Voters who donated to Bernie Sanders via Democratic Party-run ActBlue, inadvertently contributed to an organization bent on surreptitiously defeating the very candidate they were donating to support, and collecting valuable identity information. The book details media complicity in ensuring Hillary Clinton's ascent as nominee, and outlines the Pied Piper strategy that shepherded colluding media outlets into providing far greater coverage for no-hope Republican candidates. Complicit media provided far greater coverage for Pied Piper candidates than they did for any Democratic candidate except Hillary Clinton, aiding the eventual Republican win.

Following a brief biographical portion, Beck, forced by a corporate stranglehold on both the governance and the judicial system of the nation, is denied the option to present his case, so he takes his case to the court of public opinion. He makes his case quite eloquently, and does not paint the defense as hapless. He does go into a lot of legal jargon that got a bit tiring and confusing for this non-lawyer. Maybe it was a transcript of the actual hearing where the case was ultimately dismissed, but if he mentioned that, I missed it.

Overall a very enlightening read. The argument Beck lays out against the DNC is logical and compelling. Also infuriating and heartbreaking.

Being slightly obsessed with books written about campaigns the 2016 election season is no disappointment, in number of books that is. Unlike other books written about the 2016 election season What Happened focuses on the Democratic Primary and the aftermath. I will admit that I am a Bernie supporter. Like many fellow Bernicrats I not only was a donor and a potential claimant in the class action suit but I paid close attention to the primary and the case that followed. This book tracks the background of Jared Beck and his wife through the campaign season and the rise of the class action suit that they brought against the DNC and Debbie Wassermann Schultz. What Happened to Bernie Sanders is very well annotated and cited, he also includes the trial minutes and the DNC charter so that readers can come to their own conclusion. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the real threats to our Democracy. If you believe that Russia had a part to play in the election after reading this book you will come to the very sad realization that the danger to our Democracy does not come from outside but from within.

I haven't even finished and I can tell you this. If you ever find yourself trying to explain exactly WHY a lot of US don't believe we get representation for our taxation anymore because Corporate Plutocrats have effectively bought our government and people ask you how that could be possible, just hand them this book and tell them, "It's all in there."

My heart goes out to Jared H. Beck and his wife. They put a lot of work and money into the Bernie Sanders Dream only to come out losing on all fronts. This book is perhaps the rub. It changes the way I understand the American political system. Not because I didn't already know that the Democratic National Committee rigged the 2016 and 2020 primary elections, but because this book confirms what I knew. Beck goes in-depth to the nuts and bolts of the Democratic Party leader's view of American politics: "We are the party elite, we choose who we want to bear our standards, and there is nothing that anyone, not even the federal court system, can do about it."

After understanding the boldness and the audacity behind the Democratic Party's hypocritical practices to democracy, the 2020 primary elections are clear in how Joe Biden became the nominee. It is also clear why so many candidates dropped out of the race before Super Tuesday. Additionally, it clarifies why the candidates solicit money from the working class while doing big favors for the chief executives. I understand why a progressive candidate like Bernie Sanders may never become president. Ironically, I understand how the democrats helped Donald Trump get into office and why they covered it up by blaming the Russians. They wanted him to be the Republican candidate, they thought Hillary Clinton would have an easy victory, and they were wrong.

Unfortunately, the book doesn't go as deep as I hoped it would. Beck did not have a relationship with Sanders that afforded him personal inside information to explain what happened to Bernie Sanders from his point of view. For this reason, I gave it four stars.

Here's some of the kind of thing that happened, by Barbara Lee With:
          https://wcmcoop.com/2019/05/21/why-th...

Here's an excerpt, on the corporate fascism of which Hillary Clinton is an exponent:

American Red and Blue Corporate Fascism

When corporations collude with politicians to pass laws for the benefit of the wealthy few, despite what the people want, at the expense of the common good, it’s called corporate fascism. Fascism itself is not a political party, but a behavior—greed that causes a person to lie, cheat and steal in order to gain and keep power. Corporate fascism is a network of global corporations who have stolen our government through corrupt politicians. Journalist Chris Hedges explains the difference between the blue fascism of Democrats and and red fascism of Republicans:

It’s how you want corporate fascism delivered to you. Do you want it delivered by a Princeton-educated, Goldman Sachs criminal, or do you want it delivered by racist, nativist, Christian fascist? The fundamental engines of oligarchic global corporate power are advanced by both parties. One attempts to present that in a kind of multicultural, inclusive way; the other is embraced by troglodytes.

The Democrats’ assault on civil liberties under Barack Obama were worse than under George W. Bush. The expansion of drone warfare was all under the Obama Administration. The reinterpretation of the 2002 Authorization to Use Military Force Act was interpreted by the Obama White House to give them the right to assassinate American citizens. It’s that old book, written 30 years ago, you know, “friendly fascism.” It’s how you want it served up.

We’ve personalized the problem in Trump without realizing that Trump is the product of a failed democracy. Trump is what rises up from the bowels of a decayed and degenerate system. You can get rid of Trump, but you’re not going to get rid of what the sociologist Émile Durkheim called that anomie that propels societies to engage in deeply self-destructive behavior.

I was kind of disappointed in this book. I was expecting a well thought out theory on the events of the 2016 election. Instead I got a few chapters about the author and conspiracy theories. Half the book is appendices of court transcripts and the bylaws of the Democratic Party.

I didn't read 200+ pg. transcript of the court case (maybe I'll pick it up again if i ever decide to go to follow my law school dreams) but hearing what happened from a first person source was extremely interesting. It is unfortunate and predictable that this case didnt receive more media attention.

This overview of growing anti-democratic elements in American politics presents its case with evidence including accounts of executive decisions made within the Democratic Party, a history of legal precedents, and internal DNC emails published by WikiLeaks. At times the argumentation seems to exceed the evidence presented, suggesting conspiratorial elements that are not thoroughly convincing.
