Most of the stories were interesting but I did find it a bit of a slog to get through. The earlier stories remind us that someone had to "discover" the trail long before us modern adventurers hit the trail. A couple stories were quite humorous - human nature doesn't change much in 150 years.

Considering the scarce literature on the Canadian Rockies, this book is treasure.
