Who knows what ascends from the Deeps...

Macey is really quite ordinary, if you ignore that she's a kelpie princess living on land. Still, her life is boring until she gets kidnapped by a man who doesn't quite know why he kidnapped her. Try and figure that one out.

This is one of those reviews that makes me so glad that my mother and all of my close relatives are not on this site. I am going to have to say some things that are ridiculously inappropriate and would probably cause her to call up some sort of intervention.

"Honey, we are concerned about some of the stuff you are reading. It seems like trash."

Well mother, that's because it is.

Now don't get me wrong, I love some trash. Some of it can be quite entertaining, like watching cheesy Hallmark movies at

DNF somewhere around 70%

But I need to praise the originality of a Kelpie MC.
I mean, Kelpies are grooooossssssss, that's pretty ballsy to have a heroine being one. And not very common.

Just looking at the cover for From The Deeps by Skye MacKinnon and Laura Greenwood, my imagination was captured by the creatures and myths from the water and this supernatural world that rang new to me, taking me on a wild ride of earth, wind, fire, water, lightening, ice and air that left me wanting MORE!

From the deep is a mythical adventure story with heated scenes. This is Scottish mythology with an incubus and two wraiths.

Macey is a Kelpie princess who hasn’t come into her powers yet. She lives on the land with her brothers. She’s kidnapped but all isn’t as it seems. Seven wardens are supposed to save the world, but what if they aren’t the first to answer the call. Macey needs to risk more than her heart in order to fulfil her destiny. Her mythical kidnappers hold the key to her magic. As

I was so excited when I found a Scottish mythology reverse harem with a kelpie as a main character! I’ve been dying to read some of Skye’s work and I wasn’t disappointed for making this my first one. From the Deeps was filled with mythical creatures, a prophecy, and some very steamy scenes. The characters and storyline were well developed and I truly loved the uniqueness of it. I can’t wait to continue this series and Macey’s journey to fulfilling the prophecy and finding the rest of her harem!

KU Not my cup of tea

I couldn’t get in to this one. I found I didn’t connect with the protagonist and the story seemed slow and somewhat basic.

Absolutely loved this book and the start of Macey’s journey with the Wardens. Lots of new adventures, magic and love in this story filled many mythical creatures on a journey to fix the Staran and a battle against the Voice.
With a side journey of finding waffles for Macey.

This was a very interesting and unique read. I've never read anything with a kelpie before. The authors do a great job of creating this world and introducing everything. I love Macey, she's sassy, strong, and questions everything. Macey, Cam, Flint, and Jared are 4 of the 7 elemental wardens, i'm very interested to see where the story will go with all of them. The story moves at a good pace and i'm really excited for more.

At first, I wasn't sure about a male author but was quickly convinced that

Unsure of my feelings on this book.

Macey has been living on land for three years and has grown tired of its boring nature.
That doesn’t mean she wants to get kidnapped by three hot guys though.
Finding out she is the water warden from some ancient prophecy isn’t any better either.

I’m on the fence about this book.
I like the premise of it and I found it interesting but while reading it I had a hard time staying focus.
I liked all the characters, however, Macey seemed really wishy-washy with her

Macey wants to be on land. In order to do so, she has to allow her powers to be locked and her brothers to come with her. While coping with this and adjusting to life on land, something happens and life as she knows it is forever altered. She discovers that she is one of the seven elementals chosen to keep the world from being destroyed.

I actually didn't hate this book. I really enjoyed it actually. I have read previous books by Skye MacKinnon and I enjoyed those very much as well. I'm not going

46% and my eyes have been constantly rolling. Guys I really thought I was strong enough to grind through this read since it had a awesome storyline going for it, but it was like trying to read a 16 year old with serious hormone issues.

Macey is a mythical shifter who is kinda kidnapped? Taken really and sure she's upset about it for 3.5 seconds then she's just so hot and bothered she just wants to feel the guy in her, tried jumping another guy, kisses another, now this all happens after she just

I adored this audiobook by Laura Greenwood and Skye MacKinnon! I loved that they went with a male narrator, it was exactly what the book needed and I CANNOT WAIT to listen him do the rest of the series

I liked the story of the 7 Wardens. I enjoyed how they met and their different abilities and how they are different supernatural beings. I didn't think I was going to like Jared as much as I did, but he surprised me. I think Angus did a phenomenal job with his personality. I adored Camdan! I

Macey is a kelpie princess taking her turn living on land, the tradition of her people when they turn 18. However, before she came out of the loch her father placed a bind on her magic. And he sent her older twin brothers with her. So instead of any grand adventures, she's living with two idiots questioning what she's meant to do with her life. Her answer comes in an unexpected way, a sudden fog, an unknown figure, and a kidnapping. Macey comes to in a different dimension staring up at two hot ...more

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I think this story was a fun, imaginative, and thrilling start to a new series! The pace moved right along, the characters were distinct and endearing, and the plot was pure magic. It did end on a cliffhanger, but in this case the story had already made leaps and bounds of progress so the cliffhanger didnt feel like a bother. It just made me pine harder for the second book.

Macey, female protagonist and Kelpie Princess, was unwittingly pulled

Really a 2.5 - mainly for the concept. Execution though... eh. It jumps in too fast, throws prophecies out there too quickly and implies feelings far too speedily for my tastes. The FMC is a Kelpie, a Princess of the Loch in fact, and came to land 3 years ago per her people's traditions. In order to live on land, she must have her Water powers bound. Now, fast forward 3 years and the 21 year old pseudo-human is struggling to figure out what she wants to do with her life, all while living with ...more

This books is a RH, so if you are not into a FMC having multiple partners and sexual content, this is not for you.

I was so happy to find this book, I have always loved kelpies but had not found many books where they were featured let alone having the be the main character! The co-authors have really thought out the mythology and characters which makes this an enjoyable read. This book will introduce you to multiple mythological creatures you have never heard of (or I had not) and make you want

From the Deeps is the first book in a new series by Laura Greenwood and Skye Mackinnon and like always with these two authors it is a well written book with an interesting and capturing story line. Marley, the main character is very fascinating and very powerful but all account, however we are yet to see her full powers! She has an instead connection with Cam, Flint and Jared and is bonded to them. All three are so different and all bring something compelling to this story. I really enjoyed the ...more

This is the first book I've read by Skye McKinnon. I've read several by Laura Greenwood however, and this is another winner. I love the concept and story line. The characters are complex, magical and really sexy. Macey is a kelpie princess with a bit of an anger issue. After she's attacked, she finds herself in a house in the mists with three strange men. She also learns she is part of a prophecy that includes her three men and three other people. The seven combined are called Wardens and they ...more

Macey is watching her brothers fighting ..when she gets tired of it and goes to her room. She;s reading when the lights go out so she goes to find her brothers. They are unconscious outside in the mist. She hears a voice tell her to run but as she gets up she is struck unconscious. When she awakens she;s in a room with two men arguing. Cam and Flint are arguing and Flint mentions he is going to look for Jared. When he leaves, Cam talks to Macey and discovers she is a kelpie, a royal one at that. ...more

I really enjoyed the combined writing of Skye and Laura. This is a very fluid book and the switch between authors is seamless. I liked the characters, especially Jared. Each character introduction is extremely well done and only adds to the story. Macey is willing to stand up for herself and I like that she knows how to carry herself. She isn’t the typical princess that needs to be saved. I thought that having a kelpie (if you aren’t sure what that is, best way to explain it is that it is an ...more

From The Deeps is the First book in the Seven Wardens series by Skye MacKinnon and Laura Greenwood. This reverse-harem novel was mystical and engrossing and I was hooked from start to end. This was my first novel by these authors and I enjoyed the fantasy world they created. The story had mystery, suspense, steamy scenes and some adventure and it ended in a cliff-hanger that has me anxious for the next book.
I listened to the audiobook of this novel and I loved it. The narrator Angus Yellowlees

New RH series from two great authors. They developed a very interesting world. Instead of four elements there are actually seven and they all need to come together to save the world. In this first book, we meet Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water. Macey is a Kelpie, a water horse. Cam is Wind, Flint is Fire, and they are both wraiths. Jared is Earth and an incubus.
Macey meets the three men and is instantly attracted to all of them. She also finds out there is a prophecy that she is a part of. They go

Skye and Laura make an awesome team when writing this book! It was funny and quite refreshing reading a book with the fae where the main character was a Kelpie! And that said Kelpies weren't all bad. Tricksy Selkies giving them a bad name!

But i loved Macey, she was funny and i loved the guys who represented the elements of Fire, Earth and Wind. Yes, i meant wind and not air. Because this is not just the Four Elements but Seven. And You can guess but Macey is Water, duh she is a water horse!

This story was an excellent introduction to the Seven Wardens series, and I really enjoyed it. The one thing I would say is that it does contain a reverse harem relationship with very adult content as part of it, which some people would not like, but if you don't mind that or can overlook the sex sections of the story, it's a brilliant read, and I'd definitely recommend it. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the series and finding out what happens to the characters next. And can I ...more

She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh.
