It’s all or nothing, and to the victor go the dirty sweet spoils.
As if buried in their respective DNA, Riley Hewitt and Anson Black have been rivals since grade school. Always trying to one-up the other…until Anson left town right after graduation.
Fast forward a few years. Just as Riley is thinking of expanding her profitable baking business, who should plant his new restaurant right next door but smug, annoying—and, unfortunately, drop-dead-sexy—Anson. Spurred by a large bottle of wine and her two best friends, Riley sets out to get revenge.
Of all the women Anson has known, no one has stirred him—or made him work harder—than Riley. Moving in right under her nose, he’ll be a constant thorn in her side. After all, he’s smart, sexy and successful. What’s not to love?
Much to her chagrin, Riley finds more than her competitive edge coming back to life. So is her libido. But if she lets her heart fall into Anson’s win column, she could lose in more ways than one. And this time around, second place just isn’t going to cut it.
A smug man needing his comeuppance duels with a baking queen who stirs his passion like nobody’s business. No cupcakes were injured in the making of this romance, but the same can’t be said for the knitting needles.

I had my doubts about Anson. In the previous two books, he would pop into the stories so full of himself. He has a competition going with Riley that dates far back to high school, always one upping her. I wasn’t sure how he was going to win her over with that kind of attitude.
I gotta admit I just couldn’t figure Anson out until about the middle of the book. I realized that yes, he’s conceited and talks himself up too much but his heart is not vain. He is truly gifted and has had parents that are so sure of him that failure just isn’t an option to him. He works hard, he studies hard and in a misguided way, thought his bragging would help him impress the girl he’s always wanted.
Anson and Riley really were a perfect match. Little did he know he was his own worst enemy in showing Riley how good they could be together. This was one of those stories were you start out not really liking the Hero’s character only to end up loving who he really is once Riley gets past all the bull.
This Best Revenge series has been an entertaining, low angst read. I would recommend this to anyone that just wants a shorter fun book to read. ARC provided by NetGalley.
Marie Harte wraps up her Best Revenge series on a very high note with Served Sweet and I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series. Throughout their lives Riley Hewitt and Anson Black have been competitors and rivals until Anson left town right after high school. Back in town and building a restaurant right next door to Riley’s very successful bakery has her steaming mad and all he can think about is figuring out how to win the prize of his life; the girl/woman he’s always wanted. Watching two people who are truly made for each other compete to win even though neither one is sure they will get the prize they most desire, the other person, made this one entertaining story.
Just going to put it out there I really did want to hit Anson over the head on more than one occasion in this book. Told all of his life he can do no wrong and then being very successful at everything he tires, Anson is a winner and he loves to tell people how wonderful he is and at times he got on my nerves, but it became clear that while Anson is good at many things he isn’t good at people, at relationships, and he fears disappointing his parents making him seem a tad more human. I do love that he appreciated everything about Riley and felt that because she was such a strong rival that she helped him to be the person he is today. He admired her strength, her work ethic, her mind, and most definitely her body.
Riley was such a strong heroine; a successful businesswoman, a loving daughter, a good friend, and not one to let anyone stand in her way. Being black in a very non ethnic community taught Riley that she had to stand up and be proud of who she is and it worked. She’s always liked Anson and while coming in second to him on way more occasions than she’d like to admit she never felt she was quite in his league but as they begin to spend more time together she begins to truly appreciate the man underneath the competitive spirit and admires him for everything he’s accomplished in his life.
These two decide to have a knitting competition to see who is the best at something they are both bad at and in turn they wind up having a sex competition as well and let’s just say neither one of them was complaining. I loved the way they pushed each other and found inventive ways to challenge one another during their sexy times but I also appreciated that they spent time outside of the bedroom enjoying each other’s company. I flat out LOVED that both of their mothers were in cahoots to get them together and kept pushing them into “family” gatherings that left them a little flustered, a little embarrassed, and often wondering how they were manipulated so easily.
For two people who always want to “win” neither one was willing to put themselves out there and be the first to admit their true feelings leaving them both in limbo and feeling upset and frustrated. Thankfully they had good friends to help them realize that sometimes you might not win but you have to give it your all and hope for the best.
Fun, sexy, and a wee bit kinky Served Sweet was the icing on top of a very delicious series!
Served Sweet, by Marie Harte, is the third and final installment in her Best Revenge Series. This book stands well alone, and not having read the other two books will in no way lessen your understanding or enjoyment of this book. The premise behind the series is that three friends, called the Terrible Trio since elementary school, seek to get revenge on the men who did them wrong.
In this book, Riley Hewitt, the last of the trio and one of the only African American residents of Bend, Oregon, is confronted by her nemesis, Anson Black. Riley is a successful baker and owns a bakery in town that Anson decides to build a restaurant beside. Riley and Anson have competed against each other since elementary school, with them always exchanging who was the victor. Riley looks for one last competition to gain what she deems as closure to their constant competitions.
What I enjoyed most about this book was the relationship between the families. Since they, meaning the Terrible Trio and the men they are associated with, grew up together, their families are very close. I enjoyed the play between Anson and Riley’s mothers. All mothers want grandchildren and to see their children happy, yes in that order. I do not feel the mothers went overboard; I think they were just right in their finagling.
This was a very feel-good book on many levels. Anson was always seen as the perfect one that was good at everything. It was good to see that the author showed how everyone has issues, even when they appear perfect.
The last in the series and probably my favorite. Riley and Anson were competitors all through school and now that he’s decided to build a restaurant next door to her bakery it looks like the competition is continuing. When Riley presents a way for them to find closure, and bragging rights, to their lifelong contest Anson agrees but only on one condition. They are going to push the limits in every way imaginable.
This is one hot steamy read with some light bdsm elements and I loved every thing about this couple. Anson, whose ego is extreme, is good at everything he does. And he doesn’t hesitate to let everyone know it. I loved how that played into his character development because normally that type of hero can be tiring and overdone. Instead, my heart actually hurt for him.
Riley wasn’t shy about going for what she wanted and she pushes him to a place where their issues have to be resolved or their relationship is forfeited. I liked that this wasn’t about her skin color, or how she grew up, but about working hard for what you want in life and then grabbing on with both hands when it was within sight.
Overall, this has been a very enjoyable series with lots of fun, smexy times and engaging characters.

Served Sweet (Best Revenge) by Marie Harte Be careful what you wish for, cause there may be more in store than you bargained for. Ms. Harte turns good advice into naughty fun. Served Sweet is Marie Harte at her most sizzling. The competition is fierce but the attraction is smokin'. Anson and Riley take their type A personalities to the extreme with binges of smoldering lust and years of aggressive rivalry. Who will come out the victor? Or will they both lose in the end? Five alarm chili has nothing on Anson and Riley.
This is the final book in Harte's Best Revenge Series and it is just as fun and racy as the first two. Riley is the final member of the Terrible Trio to get revenge on Anson, her high school nemesis that has moved back to town. The two have competed against each other in everything with one or the other always coming out on top and has always been Anson's nature to revel in his victories. As successful adults, they are looking at a way to put the competition behind them with one final contest. Riley picks knitting. Anson picks sex, and as they work their way through that competition, it didn't seem like either cared who ended up on top.
The book clips at a fast pace, is pretty funny and has some racy scenes. The group of friends is always entertaining. I never develop emotional ties or connections to the characters but I don't always think that is needed in every book and it doesn't take away from Riley and Anson's story. So, if you are looking for a lighter read not bogged down with unnecessary drama or angst this is a great choice.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Such a good finish to the series, Riley and Anson's story is sweet and hot. They are the third couple of this trilogy who will get their HEA and the journey there is hard at times, hilarious scenes mixed with some fan-your-face-so-hot ones makes a great mix under the pen of Marie Harte, one of my fave authors who I can say that I haven't read a book from that I didn't like. Loved the way we get to know Anson better, whom we met in the previous two books where he came across as arrogant and know-it-all, who loved to be a thorn in Riley's side... or that was the impression he gave. Riley is as competitive as ever and thru a last competition to show who is best, Anson gets her and she gets to see the man beyond the facade he shows to the world. They had me laughing at their bickering and my heart melted when they finally told each other that they are in love. *sigh*
Riley knows how to get the upper hand on Anson without the man even knowing it, "she patted her hair and smoothed a hand down her dress. “See you downstairs.” Then she winked and left him staring after her, his fly still open." Anson sometimes just needs to let his woman have control, “congratulations. You won me. Now what do you want me to do first?” I liked this book, I seriously enjoyed these characters.
Riley Hewitt and Anson Black have been rivals ever since grade school. From one competition to the next, the only guarantee is that they will be the last two competitors standing. Until Anson left their hometown and their feud finally fizzled out. But now Anson is back... for good... and he only has one thing he wants to win this time around...

Served Sweet was an insanely hot and highly entertaining story. Riley and Anson's lifelong rivalry is about to get an extra serving of HEAT from their long-overdue sexual tension and the attraction that they have successfully hidden from each other... until now.
I really enjoyed this story! The sexual escapades between Riley and Anson were off the charts spicy and adventurous. And while I loved their sexual connection and their interaction with each other, their relationship stalled a little when their old hangups continue to affect their everyday lives. But with some well meaning meddling and a group of friends who have already had their turn at the relationship drama, Riley and Anson may just get to travel the easiest road to full-blown relationship yet... or not...
This book was by far my favorite of the series, I felt like all of the characters from the past books were finally in a place where they could be a little likable and move past their petty past ways of dealing with each other. I liked Riley and Anson from the beginning and I feel like their ultra sexy story was the perfect way to end this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Served sweet is an ARC for receivedfrom netgalley and publisher to give a honest review. This is a throughly enjoyable read. Riley owns a bakery and her long term enemy/ rival Anson is opening a restaurant right next door to her. She has always been a high achiever and since school has tried to outdo Anson in everything from athletics to exam results, never quite piping him to the post she is fed up with his smug overbearing ways. Anson has had a gilded life, everything always appears to come easily to him, but that's not without his hard work and absolute terror of ever failing at anything. He's always lusted after Riley and means to show her how good they would be together. There are some really good funny moments and fireworks abound when there relationship gathers pace, the sex scenes are amazing! Fortunately for me I see there are two previous books in this series, can't wait to read them after this wonderful story.
Riley Hewitt is a beautiful black woman who owns her own business. She is competitive and wants to always win. Her rival in school is opening up a new restaurant right next door to her and she is furious, and has to find a way to beat him. Her best friends, part of the terrible trio are engaged and and she’s already for another lonely Valentines Day alone watching TV. Anson Black is a handsome business owner of several businesses. He’s smart, and very competitive and loves to always win. He’s opening his new restaurant right next door to the woman who keeps him on his toes. This book is full of fun and games and is also very captivating and full of passion and fire. These two go toe to toe in everything that they do. There is nothing that Anson Black won’t do for Riley to be his. I recommend this book to read.
The third and final book in this series is about Riley and Anson. These two have been each others arch nemesis since they were children. Always trying to beat the other in whatever they chose as their current competition. These two are so very similar, and you wonder how they could possibly be attracted to the other. Yes they are trying to one up the other, but for these two it is a kind of fore play. When they both look back to when their competitiveness started, they both realise it was all so the other one had no choice but to notice them. Again another fantastic written book with great characters. Looking forward to reading the next Marie Harte novel. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book via Netgalley
I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the back and forth between the couple. Riley for some reason believes that Anson is her nemesis and has spent his life trying to make her look bad...when in reality that is really far from the truth!
Anson has spent his life trying to prove to Riley that he is the one that she should want but for some unknown reason he has always felt like she has hated his guts.
With no other options Anson decides to play his trump card and put his restaurant right next to hers. Perfect plan right? Read and find out!
This book was received via Netgalley for an honest review
Like the first book in the series - this was an ok read... I didn't really like the characters though... I found Anson smug (which I know he was supposed to be) and Riley seemed quite cold... maybe it was just me, but I wasn't that keen on them!
It is a solid, if slightly predictable, conclusion to the Best Served trilogy that shockingly sees the Terrible Trio's plan for revenge fail epically - with them all falling for the guy they swore revenge on!
Served Sweet is the last of this series and I’m a little sad to see it all end. But finally getting to know more about the all too arrogant Anson and the woman who captures his heart is worth it.
As with the previous stories there are some intensely serious moments mixed in with hilarious scenes and super hot sex! Riley and Anson are great together, but have to work hard for their HEA. A fabulous end to a series that has kept me riveted through each and every book.
Anson Black and Riley Hewitt have been competing with each other since they were in school, so why should anything change since they are adults. Anson and Riley have always had feeling for each other but getting them to admit it, that’s another story. Anson and Riley love to push each other’s buttons and the chemistry they have is scorching hot. I absolutely loved this book and all of the characters. What a great ending to this series.
I have just loved this series and all the characters but I have to admit I think this is my favorite.I just loved Anson he is so blunt and to the point, while it does appear that he brags a lot, in reality, he is just telling the truth I found it really sweet that he was awkward. The chemistry between him and Riley was off the charts and just like his cousin Dex he is a dirty boy.A super read and a fantastic end to the series I would recommend this one to all
This was sweet and steamy, pun intended. Anson and Riley have competed over everything since high school. Now that Anson is back in town and put his new restaurant right next to Riley's bakery, it's time for sparks to fly.
Loved this book, and it was a quick and dirty read. Perfect balance of steamy sex scenes with ridiculous banter and heartfelt friendships and found family, not to mention meddling family members.
Riley and Anson had competed against each other since high school, but it was more an attempt to impress and be noticed. Anson moved back to town to open a new restaurant and the competition continued. He is good at everything but his self esteem was poor when it came to relationships. He finally understood Riley wasn't looking for perfection and loved him anyway. It was a fun story with crazy characters from earlier books. Highly recommended.
This was probably my favorite of the Best Revenge series by Marie Harte. Riley and Anson have been competitors and and rivals for years. Anton comes back to town after being away for years and ones a restaurant right next door to Riley’s very successful bakery. And sparks fly! An entertaining story.
Received an ARC at cost to author..this is the last book in the revenge series, it is finslly Anson and Riley. We two people who are type A, we get sparks, so don't stand to close....Enjoy!!!! take their type A personalities to the extreme with binges of smoldering lust and years of aggressive rivalry.
SERVED SWEET is the third in Marie Harte’s Best Revenge series. Riley Hewitt and Anson Black have been rivals since their high school days. Now Anson’s back in town and driving Riley insane…with lust 😂
Marie Harte’s characters are warm and funny, and this is one incredibly entertaining read. One for the keeper shelf!
Riley and Anson's story is a little different from the first two. This time it was Riley trying to get Anson to own up to what they are or what they could be. Poor Anson is forced to think about his feelings. You go Riley!
The final story in the Best Revenge series Served Sweet bring us Riley and Anson. I enjoyed this story, the characters were great and interaction and banter dynamic I have really enjoyed this series and one I will recommend and reread.
the third installment in the series was on par with the first two. again a good, quick, standard romance story with likable characters and some hot scenes.
