A beautiful spiritual book by Mark Tiro based on love and forgiveness.
The story is about the protagonist, a lawyer Maya, where one lie by her student in law school, ruins her career. In plotting revenge with a lawsuit against the student, she invites her friend to the coffee shop where a shooting occurs, and all are killed. This triggers Maya’s soul on a journey as it goes through its births, both in her past and future lives, and then back again. Each birth teaches her the Universal Truth, but at the same time, she has free will to accept or reject it. And the journey of the soul continues on….
This book has brought my beliefs to surface as Mark has touched upon the simple fact that the soul, in each birth, has to learn the truth to resonate at a higher level to attain moksh / nirvana…
There are various stories of Maya’s births from all cultures. But there is a story of a monk which underlines the core of the book for me. A monk helps a woman to cross the stream by lifting her and then walks away. His friend rebukes him for forgetting his sacred vows and touching a woman. To this the monk says that he dropped her and forgot about her, yet his friend could not seem to let go of the woman and still carried her… This is so true. We carry the baggage of anger, of revenge, of grievances, on our souls throughout our lives, instead of accepting forgiveness and love.
Forgiveness extends, from the instance it is given, beyond time and into eternity
This is a direct quote by the author Mark; so true, so poignant, and so forgotten. Most of us give so much value to the unnecessary things, but once, we let go of the valueless, we realize that the values are all around and within us.
There are a few niggles, it is difficult to grasp some stories if you are not a history buff. And it takes time to understand Mark’s style of narration in describing Maya’s journey through time.
This book also shows Mark’s hard work and his intelligence in the way, he has amalgamated history with fiction. His conceptions, his plots, his characters are varied and well defined but at the same time, he has kept Maya’s voice in each birth unique and strong and easily identifiable in whichever body her soul embraces. It is quite remarkable.
Mark, in each of his stories has underlined the basics of human life. He wants to make us aware that life is an illusion. We might make the best of choices, but there is really only one choice to make: truth or illusion.
Choosing love or fear. Love is the basic truth on which human life rests on, rest all are illusions. And the sooner we understand and accept this fact, the better it is for humanity and life. Li4ve life without judgment, in kindness, in forgiveness, and in love.

Do you believe in reincarnation? Do you believe in second, third, fourth….chances to get it right? Mark Tiro gives Maya many chances to make the right choice at the right time. I haven’t read many books about reincarnation, but if it goes down like it does for Maya, I’m not sure I want to know.
I was angry and fuming from the opening pages. I feel for Maya and wonder where we’re going from here. I am so pissed for her and at the arrogant, spoiled rich shit. Then…it really goes to hell in a hand basket, as gunmen let loose, bullets fly, bodies fall, and blood runs.
In everyone’s life, a crucial moment comes when they could change the outcome of an event. Would it be for the better?
As I read Implicit my Mark Tiro, it seems the good die young and senselessly. For what? Is it random?
The life and death scenarios of Maya’s present and past lives showcase moments in her life where action can change the outcome.
Heartbreaking, angering, frustrating…
Follow your heart, don’t let others words sway you to do what you feel is wrong.
Sometimes the road traveled is bumpy and twisted, but it is life and we never know what tomorrow will bring.
Does your life pass before your eyes as you die? Is there life after death? Only losers play the what if game, holding onto grudges that hurt them more than anyone else.
Maya’s lives run the gamut of emotions, sadness, happiness, anger, envy…Definitely food for thought.

I felt like this book was slow in the beginning but once I got passed that I liked this book. This story took me on a journey, really many journeys with the main character, Maya. I felt that this book was interesting and deep at the same time. This book left me with many things to think about I my own life. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

The story of “Implicit: Soul Invictus” starts with our main character Maya, whose career as a law professor gets ruined by one of her students saying one simple lie to stain her reputation. Holding a grudge, she invited her law school friend Larry to help her with the lawsuit and have a few drinks too. She then finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, in a middle of an armed robbery where she gets shot multiple times and dies. Maya’s soul then goes on a journey through her past and future lives, where she learns about the universe, life and what it means to forgive.
The plot starts off slow but it soon picks up and it’s impossible to stop reading. It was mostly helped by Mr Tiro’s unique writing style which is easy to follow and builds momentum as the story goes on.
What I really enjoyed about this novel was how much hope it gives to the reader about life. It’s a great blend of spirituality and philosophy with a dash of author’s knowledge of history, which he then clarifies further in his note at the end of the novel.
My only remark would be that perhaps the way the author writes is too unified and it’s impossible to distinguish the way the modern characters talk from the historic and future ones. But that can be easily overlooked if you take in consideration that all these incarnations came from one soul and its characteristics are supposed to be unifying since, if you believe in reincarnation, there is something about our souls which makes them unique and transcends rebirth.

Implicit: Soul Invictus by Mark Tiro is a gripping, emotional, and intellectual read. It captured my attention at the forward and kept it straight through the end of the novel and the letter from the author. I don’t really see fantasy novels of this caliber—highly cerebral, not necessarily “mainstream”—anymore, and I found it a refreshing change of pace (although I love more mainstream fantasy also).
Maya, law professor recently fired based on false claims, has a lesson to learn from the universe, but not just one life can teach it to her. One fateful trip to a coffee shop kicks off this spiritual journey, one which takes Maya’s soul and the readers to new lives in Ancient Rome, World War II Japan, and a future with political turmoil and ways to connect to the “network” which we can only imagine. Will Maya’s soul learn its lesson? Or will she fail once again when the universe gives her a second chance?
Thanks to the forward, the concept of this novel was easy for me to follow—in fact, based on the summary, I didn’t really need the forward—and the letter from the author at the end addressed many historical questions which popped into my head as I read the story.
However, it wasn’t just the concept or the incorporation of real history which I enjoyed about this book. I grew attached to Maya’s soul all over again as each life—which were mini-stories into themselves—led me on a new journey. Tiro shows very well how these patterns can repeat and how just a slight alteration of our views and reactions could change our lives or, at least, make us happier in the lives we are given.
I came across multiple proofreading issues—nothing huge but enough for me to notice—and, while I generally followed the story line, I had one or two moments when I did quite follow the transition from one chapter or section to the next. This did not hinder my enjoyment of the book, but I can see how others may have an issue with it.
Overall, I really liked this book. It’s emotional, full of action, and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I highly recommend it for fantasy fans with a spiritual side and an interest in reincarnation.

Implicit: Soul Invictus is the first book in the Spirit Invictus Series and I enjoyed every single line! This book is one of a kind and I’ve never read anything like this before. When I turned the first page, I immediately submerged into the unknown world of time traveling souls, and now and then, it felt like it was my soul feeling pain, confusion, joy or love since the novel really resonated in me!
This is a story of Maya Lee, a professor at a law school. The awful lie of her student finished her teaching career and the crucial shooting accident at a coffee store one Saturday night triggered the chain reaction of Maya’s soul journeys. She travels through ancient Rome, Japan at times of World War II, and other locations and times. She endures different reincarnations experiencing the different lives of different people… How will this amazing journey end, and where will it lead Maya?
The author did an astonishing job composing the plot and developing characters. All of Maya’s incarnations are amazing, with the first-person narration uniquely conveying feelings, thoughts and the atmosphere of places and times to the reader! Despite their diversity in places and genders, the character of Maya can be easily guessed in all of them! I enjoyed all the characters, vividly depicted and very easy to imagine: Maya, Diana, Yoshio, David - all of them. But my favorite is Alex, the little boy from a coffee store and his deeply emotional connection with Maya. I also admired the greatly communicated feeling of «kanashibari», since I’ve studied the phenomenon not so long ago.
I was really stunned by the completely fascinating ending. The totally different attitude to reality and illusions, rights and wrongs of our life choices made this book highly thought-provoking and even life-changing for me. I believe this is a must-read for all of us! I highly recommend this book!

The book is written with a number of vignettes as the "unconquered [invictus]" soul moves back and forth through time. I am unsure if the title is the phonetic equivalent of "Sol invictus" or the unconquered sun, a Roman deity, with December 25th being the celebration of "Dies Natalis Solis Invicti" or Christmas and Saturnalia. Both are mentioned in the book. There also may be a relationship with 'Invictus' by William Ernest Henley, 1849 - 1903.

All right, when I started reading I thought to myself: why isn’t there a timeline? It would be so much easier to switch from story to story! It’s irritating me.
Then I thought: these tales are not connected, the ones not from this time are so hard to relate to. They are just a bunch of short stories.
Will this be one of the first books that I do not finish?
But after a break I continued.
I loved the story of Mr Yoshi!
Then it was like something clicked, I’m starting to get the point here!
When he said you never lose the things that are important I knew she was gone, and what he meant by it.
It’s important to go for what you know is right, to fight to get it if necessary.
When you don’t listen to your intuition, sooner or later, you’ll regret it.
If you look for answers for the meaning of your life outside of yourself you probably won’t find them.
But all of the things you experience in your life might help to get the calm inside. To understand the hints and lessons that are important.
It’s not that the beginning of the book was not good, but I probably judged too fast.

Awesome book
This book is like ground hog day movie. If you don’t know what that is, the main character has a chance to redo his day for many days until he gets the day right. In this book, Maya gets to repeat the past and future until she learns the lesson given and gets the day right.
The book has a shocking beginning. Maya was a teacher at a law school until a student who was too lazy to study lied on her and got her fired. Maya contacts her college friend Larry to help her with the case of the school incident.
Larry is to meet Maya in a library. When shooters come in. Maya recognizes one of the shooters. He said he should have killed her last time. They kill a few people then kill a child, Larry, and Maya. With her last breath, she says I will avenge them!
Mayas soul then reincarnates over and over again in this book. You must read it to find out if Maya is able to avenge them. It is well written and easy to follow and understand. It is a very interesting read. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Kindle Unlimited, noticed some other reviews said hard to follow but well I'm a huge Dr Who fan and have been for years; timey wimey stuff is nothing new to me, maybe that made a difference.

Not a time travel story or another legal adventure/ thriller. This is much deeper.

She tries to work through things throughout many incarnations, trying to avoid death and harm.
In the end, she must embrace several things: some forms of death, pain or loss are inevitable. She can only make the best choices open to her, or make the best of the choices open to her.
The form doesn't matter. The content does. Whatever you do, do with kindness.
Do with forgiveness. That releases pain, undoes illusions, and frees up love.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.Personally I found this book hard to follow. I just wasn't "getting the story line" very well. I think this book is about some one on the edge of death, that is trying to see which way her soul is going to go and the "if only I had done this" in life. It's an okay story, but not really one for me.

This is the first book I've read by this author. It was worth it. The book was engaging and fast flowing. We follow our main character down through the centuries and her many lives. Makes you wonder doesn't it.

The third book in this adult series COULD be read alone in a weekend if one did not pause for thought along the way, but one is very likely to pause multiple times. Reading the first two books will give more background, but I don't think it essential to understand Book 3.

Implicit: Soul Invictus (The Spirit Invictus Series) by Mark Tiro is an interesting story that involves reincarnation. It tells a story of Maya, a professor at a law school, who after a shooting at a coffee shop triggers a chain of strange events that takes you the reader and Maya's soul on many journeys.
Maya really believes that she knows the true meaning of life but it is not all that she thought and there are some deadly consequences. Author Mark Tiro takes the readers an interesting journey through the eyes of Maya and sometimes you are rooting for her and other times for myself, I was shaking my head at her. Not your typical story where you can assume how this will end, Tiro tells a story within a story that keeps you interested. I rate this story 4 stars.

DNF I give the book 4 stars even though I wasn't able to finish the book, I don't blame the author, I just could get into the book. time travel is not my genre and I'm trying to broaden them but sometimes I find a book I just can't give into. however, the book was well written and if it was a different genre I have no doubt I'd thoroughly enjoy it
