Gavin Payne certainly didn’t believe in anything magical — until the day he rescued a mermaid. This discovery forces him to confront his haunted past and face an uncertain future. One that could reveal unsettling truths about his family.
Could one choice change a destiny?
Arista Tidehli left her life in the water behind, determined to finally learn what happened to her mother. But what started as a simple journey becomes more complicated as she is hunted by new foes — who have a plan to eliminate magic from the world.
Gavin and Arista must race both time and fate to stop those hunting her and find her mother. But will it be enough to save magic and prevent the Morrigan Prophecies from coming true?
A mermaid chooses to leave her life in the water to chase after a mystery on shore. She immediately knows how to dress, use a shower, and communicate with humans. She doesn't trust people, and yet tells everyone she's a mermaid... I like fantasy. I like romance. I was given this book as a good reads giveaway, to read and rate and I feel bad, but I thought it was poor. I couldn't get past my unbelief in how her story was unfolding. If there had been better world building, so I knew why she knew about plumbing and clothes and humans, then I might have been drawn into the book. As it was, I kept thinking, that's not realistic, that couldn't happen, how did she know that?
I liked the premise, but this book missed the mark.
