Alkaline Plant Based Diet is my book The God-Awakening Diet, revised. This new edition titled Alkaline Plant Based Diet is rebranded to better identify what the book is about. It also includes some minor revisions to content for a more user-friendly experience.
An alkaline plant based diet is instrumental in supporting health and vitality, reversing disease, and protecting the earth's ecosystem. It optimally supports a slightly alkaline pH level in the blood, which is the equilibrium point for the health of all the organs in the body. Consuming acidifying meat, dairy, and processed foods causes the body to rely on buffering systems to keep the blood's pH around 7.4. The body then strips alkaline material from bones and tissues to put into the bloodstream when the buffering systems are overwhelmed. This compromises the health of organs and allows for the proliferation of pathogens and toxins.
The global assimilation of the Western diet, which is centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods, supports industrial processes that compromise the natural life supposrting patterns of the earth's ecosystem, and supports the proliferation of disease in the body and in the earth.
Diets centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods are the catalyst of the inhumane treatment of animals, deforestation, land erosion, depletion of fresh water, and intensified climate change. The mechanisms employed to satisfy the demand for meat, dairy, and processed foods severely compromise the natural patterns that support all life on earth.
The positive experience I am enjoying as a result of adopting a plant-based diet led me to write the book The God-Awakening Diet. I had been overwhelmed with colds and the flu, body and nasal congestion, stomach issues, excess weight, and lethargy until I become a dietary vegan. I am in my late forties and my plant-based diet has positively influenced my physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being and returned my body and energy to that of a healthy twenty-year old.
This new lifestyle led me to attain a certificate in plant based nutrition from Cornell University, become an environmental and health activist and participate in marches against Monsanto, develop the Natural Life Energy website that is focused on promoting the benefits of a plant based diet, and to return to amateur boxing.
I also obtained a BA in Organizational Behavior and Communications from NYU, worked as an elementary school teacher, and studied social work. I am a web designer/developer and I enjoy boxing, kick boxing, cycling, power walking, and basically anything challenging, and my plant-based diet supports all that I do.
After I read this author's book on herbal medicine, I had to read this one, too. This was a very good book. In terms of the breadth of information in a very concise, well-written form, this was perfect. The recipes were also quick, easy, delicious and healthy. He also covers foods that are not commonly addressed but are familiar in the Carribean and obtainable here. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to keep their body alkaline. I recommend this book to get a basic knowledge on an alkaline diet. There was a lot of information I didn’t know such as farmers feeding cows a candy based diet or that 80% of the immune system is in the digestive tract. My biggest problem with this books is that it needed to be edited.
I had read other reviews saying that it wasn’t edited and hard to get through and it did make it difficult to understand what the author was saying most of the time. I think if this book was edited properly I would’ve given it 6 stars. I’m excited I got through this book though and I want to try some of the recipes too. I also wished he would’ve added all the foods that weren’t and are alkaline, that way I could make more recipes than the one he offers.
Another down side is that he recommends drinking a lot juices than eating, not that he doesn’t say eat but in order to realign your body, you have to drink juices. I think doing that for a short period of time is good be because it’ll be like fasting while cleansing out your body, but I don’t know if I’d recommend doing only juices for the rest of your life.
I would highly recommend getting this book in the kindle version so you can check out the links provided and the resources the author added to the book. One of the juices that the author created, The Bam Bam Juice, has been modified since publishing this book and he also provides a link so you can see the update version.
My overall review is that this is a great book, the information is amazing. I just wish the list of alkaline foods were added and that the book was edited properly. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book.
I decided to read this book because of curiosity... I've always been curious about the plant based diet but i've felt like its something i would never actually try (because i've been comfortable being vegetarian).
My diet is far from perfect but in light of whats going on in the world right now, ageing and being reminded about how "health is wealth" - i decided to take the plunge.
.. and i'm sooo glad i did!! :)
This book has inspired me to try more vegetable juices (to make sure i get as much nutrients as possible), to minimise my consumption of processed foods and to try the recommended herbs.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is looking to improve their diet & is open to trying new things!! It won't take long to read so try it.
oh and one more thing chapter 6 was a highlight for me.

This book is loaded with convincing reasons to pursue an alkaline plant diet. I had read earlier reasons and this book has energized me to begin an earnest life change by way of a natural food diet. I have several times in the past made changes to my diet in hopes of better health...not always so successful....but I am energized again! I will read on....thank you for a well written 'argument' in favor of a nature based diet.
