When you're born in the lowest of the low classes, life is hard. You have to compromise in order to live - and some of those compromises can be harsh or degrading. I finished this book last night, having started it on Sunday, and it was one of the best-written, most exciting and absorbing books I've read in a while.

The world created by the author is a very interesting one, described in vivid detail: the flora and scenery of Enthin, the architecture of the imposing university Kaedin Hall where students of all social backgrounds come together to learn shape the elements and bend them to their will, as well as the political landscape of the country, its hist

A fun book, with engaging characters and an exciting plot. However, have to give it 3 stars. This ratings probably not fair but I'm so disappointed.

*spoiler alert*

It was fantastic to get some much needed bisexual representation and then the author had to resort to the tired and damaging bury your gays trope. I hope it's a plot twist, but I have my doubts.
