Thanks to net galley for giving me a preview of the book! Loved this book! I really love a book when it gives alternate realities and Hannah McKinnon approaches this brilliantly! Hayley was a lovely character and the book kept you hooked throughout! Will definitely look out for this author in the future!

**3.5 stars**

There's a quote in the book 'He said it's Saturday. Dear God, it's like Ground hog Day meets Sliding Doors'. And I think that sums up this story very well.

Hayley's life is at breaking point. Her work as a solicitor has no work/life balance, and she is being undermined by her boss. Her marriage is strained while her husband is trying to set up his own web designing company and her kids.... well she just doesn't see enough of them and lastly her parents are causing her worry, especial

HarperCollins UK, Avon and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Time After Time, in exchange for an honest review.

Hayley Cooper seems to have it all, if you are on the outside, looking in. Her job as a powerful attorney keeps her away from her children and her husband. More concerned with sabotaging Hayley's career than helping to run a successful practice, her boss seems to have it out for her. One night, Hayley goes to sleep wishing that her life was different. When she awakens to

Such a great rom com! It is everything you want in a book! It made me laugh out loud, blush, tear up, it just had all the feels. It also made me take a step back and want to be better with my marriage and showed me how important it is to think that way. Absolutely adored it! Such a great and creative story!

Originally reviewed on Becca's Books.

When Time After Time by Hannah McKinnon was announced by Avon over on Twitter, I knew that I wanted to read this book. The cover, which I spotted first, enchants me completely even now. How could it not? If you know me at all then you'll know that I love anything that looks even slightly whimsical and romantic, and after I'd read the blurb it seemed to tick all of my boxes. I couldn't wait to begin reading and I was delighted when Avon allowed me a review cop

Do you ever sit around and wonder, “what if?” Whether it be about a move somewhere, a job, or an ex? I would think that at some point, everyone has stopped to question a decision and wondered how things would be different if they had chosen differently. Today I read, Time After Time: A Heart-Warming Novel About Love, Loss, and Second Chances, by Hannah McKinnon, a story about wondering “what if” and getting to see how things would’ve been if done differently. This is a fantastic first novel of M ...more

Thanks to Netgalley, this ARC was received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Hayley is going through some rough times. Even though she has dedicated her all to work, barely having time for her family, her latest tasks have all fallen through and now she might be fired. To top her day, she engages into The Fight with her husband, lately a stay-at-home daddy trying to open his own business. Perhaps, life would have been better had she given a chance to her previous men... That is

Such a good question; have you ever wondered ‘what if?’. Have you ever wondered what things would be like if you had taken a different path in life? Have you ever wondered what your acquaintances from the past would be like after you have moved on? Lets just pause for a second whilst you get into the ‘what if?’ mind-set….

Have you thought about it yet?

What about now?

We’re only human, of course we are bound to wonder ‘what if?’ whenever relationships end, or we make a huge decision in life. H

After a row with her husband Hayley Cooper flounces out of the house to get it all off her chest at her best friend’s house. Ellen and Hayley are inseparable, and her husband Mark is a sterling guy as well, always sensible and welcoming. They are the voices of reason and they will be honest with her and guide her. Hayley, an up and coming lawyer, is stressed to the hilt. A job change that had been almost a certainty had fallen through and she was sick to the back teeth with being taken advantage ...more

I love books and films that look at what might have happened if people had made different choices. Films like Sliding Doors and of course, It's A Wonderful Life. Books like Laura Barnett's The Versions of Us and Carmel Harrington's Every Time a Bell Rings. And Hannah McKinnon has written a book which is right up there as one of my favourites.

Hayley is a high flying lawyer working in mergers and acquisitions. She's always loved her job and been very good at it but recently pressure at work has ta

Time After Time is one of those books you can't put down - if only because, you absolutely have to find out what happens to Hayley. My favourite kind of books are the ones that show what the grass is like on the other side, and Hayley is desperate to know if the grass is indeed greener considering her life is falling apart - she's arguing with her hubby Rick, she's losing clients left, right and centre, in her job as a lawyer, and she can't help wondering if one of her exes would have been a bet ...more

Last night I fell into bed exhausted.

I managed to read an entire chapter of this fun book before I passed out drooling on my pillow, the reading lamp still on. It felt like it was a thousand degrees in our house, the AC taking forever to finally work its magic. My middle kid was irritable and woke me from my stupor asking for another tuck in because she was too hot and couldn't turn her brain off. As I stumbled back to bed for the second time, I was sticky, and bloated, and sex was the farthest

Hayley and Rick are having a tough time together. Things aren't going well at work for Hayley either, because she has a terrible boss. She rarely sees her family and she works as hard as she can to bring a good salary to the table, so she can take care of the people she loves. She fantasizes about a different life, what would have happened if she'd have married any of her other boyfriends? When she wakes up next to her first love the next day Hayley knows she should have been careful wishing som ...more

NetGalley copy in exchange of an honest review.

Hayley’s life is a mess: her job is taking too much of her time, her boss is horrible, she never sees her kids and her marriage is falling apart.

It goes to the point where she asks herself the very famous question “What if”?

What if she had ended up with one of her exes instead of her husband? How would her life have turned out?

Well, guess what: she gets to experience this. Every day is a Saturday. Every day she wakes up in an alternate universe, fac

Truly, an amazing book. This is a book that will stick with me.

I loved how the book went from the past to the present in order to shed more light on Hayley's life and relationships so the reader knew exactly what she went through and then wonder about the jump to the 'future'.

I enjoyed the story and romances. I don't want to say too much about the love parts because that is what the story is about.

I will say that, the ma

This book is based on the thought we all have, "What if". Hayley is dissatisfied with her life and feels her husband Rick doesn't contribute enough to the home life. She visits her friend, Ellen and wonders what her life would have been like with her previous boyfriends.

The book goes back and forward but is very easy to follow. It works forward roughly from Hayley's first serious relationship and offers many different scenarios. We meet all her previous men, and see the way the present has been

A delightful story, filled with hilarious moments and poignant twists

I gobbled up Hannah McKinnon’s debut, which for me is always a sign that the story gripped me and that I kept wanting to know what would happen next. Right from the start, it was easy to cheer for the protagonist, Hayley. A lot of women will no doubt be able to empathize with her struggles: she’s a nice younger woman trying to juggle a crappy job, a marriage that has lost some of its sparkle, kids, and elderly parents who need

One of those novels that leaves you with an 'ahhhhhhh that was cute' feeling. Very satisfying ending and great character journey.
The only things I struggled with were that this book jumps from past to present very often and there are also a LOT of characters to try and remember, therefore if I put the book down and came back to it later, I had to try and jog my memory to remember exactly who was who. This book would definitely read better if one was to read it all in one go.

I readily admit to being a sucker for anything time travel or what if? related. I grew up reading Jack Finney and watching Doctor Who and I’m always on the lookout for anything new in the genre (with an occasional revisit to It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol). I dived into Time After Time and happily allowed it to swallow me whole, barely pausing for sleep and coming up for air only at the powerful climatic scene (no spoilers, but lawyers are particularly going to love it). Hayley Cooper is tired. She has a demanding full-time job as a solicitor, two kids, and a husband that works from home establishing his new business. She's the breadwinner, and the effort her husband, Rick, is putting into his business means Hayley is left to do all the household chores, and worry about her elderly parents. Hayley is feeling disenchanted with her marriage, and wonders what if...

A weekend of reliving her past relationships – and how they could have turned out - gives Hayley a chance to sort out how she really feels about her life. As the story unfolds, we learn more and more about Hayley’s past, and how it led her to the present.

This book was really fun, and hard to put down. Hayley is a loveable character, and I enjoyed following her through her struggles with what could have been. She’s funny, relatable, and you can’t help hoping things turn out all right for her in t

Hayley is dissatisfied with her life - the kids are always fighting, she is under so much pressure at work she hardly sees them or her husband Rick and so after another row she is having a drink with a friend reminiscing about old boyfriends and wondering how her life would be now if she had stayed with them

She is soon to find out when she wakes up and find Chris next to her and she freaks - did she really have that much to drink, has she been unfaithful? She then proceeds to wake up with variou

I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The premise reminded me of Landline by Rainbow Rowell in that it explores the alternate paths ones life could have taken if one simple things had gone differently. I like the idea of multiple different options as opposed to just one scenario. I found the progression to be a bit slower than I would have liked and there is a prevailing anxiety to the narrative. However this for many readers could lend to the overall experience by re ...more
All I can say is that I'm so glad that's over with.

The writings ok and the idea behind the book is pretty good (it's described as Groundhog day meets Sliding Doors within the story itself) but for whatever reason I found the whole thing a bit of a struggle. I couldn't connect with main character Hayley at all (or any of the other characters for that matter) and just couldn't bring myself to care what happened.

I feel like this is a book that should have been a lot sharper, a bit funnier and gene

This is a fairly predictable read but it's highly entertaining and fun to read. Haley revisits many of her old boyfriends and sees what her life could have potentially been. In the end she realizes just how lucky she was to have picked Rick and have their family. I enjoyed the last few chapters because she solved a major problem at work with her new insight and tracked down the men she had dated and met with them to see what their lives were like now. I've never read Hannah McKinnon before but s ...more

I was born in the UK and grew up in Switzerland. Unsurprisingly I love chocolate, mountains and cheese, and books, of course.

When I moved to Canada with my husband and three sons in 2010 I went through an (early) mid-life crisis. Maybe it was the failed attempt at a start-up company, but one morning I decided to follow my oldest passion; writing - and never looked back.
