Falling in love with your best friend's little sister is never a good idea. Getting caught kissing her, that's even worse.

I watched Lizzie Donovan grow up - from pigtails and scraped knees to pouty lips and lush curves.

It wasn't until one night nine years ago in the front seat of her car, with her lips on mine, that I realized what I was feeling was far more than friendshi

This is my first Jodie Larson book...
Forbidden Lyrics was a fun book to read... nothing to write home about..nothing that will make me go on and on about with my friends. It was sweet and sexy but to be honest, perhaps a little lukewarm when it comes to attracting the attention of a reader. I found myself bored at times wishing the book would end soon and at times hoping the book lasts a little longer. I know. bloody indecisive review... it's a 50-50 here for me..

Brecken will steal your heart and more in Forbidden Lyrics by Jodi Larson.

Jodi’s words and writing style is hookable. Sweeping you off your feet with the third book in her Lightning Strikes series, this installment is charming and utterly alluring.

An innocent attraction as friends that grew into an intense connection with a kiss that left Brecken and Lizzie’s emotions high and then crashed just as quick due to his friendship toward

This was my first time reading a book by this author and I really wanted to be able to rate it better but by the end I felt I was having to force myself to finish. IMO I’ve been generous with my rating but only because I feel the story itself had potential had it been executed a bit better and some character flaws changed.

The characters I found to be really immature at times especially the main characters Brecken & Lizzie and I felt like their dialogues were that of a high schooler at times,

I first must disclose that jerk-face Myles is still my favorite. But this in no way changes Jodie's ability to write Brecken's story. *whispers, but Myles for the win*

Although Myles was in this one and still a jerk-face. Kinda. My life isn't complete until Myles inserts his douchebagness. I still love him.

ANYWAY. About Breck and Lizzie. They are just generally the nice, the sweet, and the good. Not in a goodie-goodie way - I mean they definitely still fuck (make love), but neither

Forbidden Lyrics is my first read from Jodie Larson and I would definitely check out her previous and future work. This is the third installment if her Lightning Strikes series and while the book was enjoyable and can be read as a standalone, I believe I would’ve connected a little more to all of the characters if I had started from the beginning.
Larson’s writing style is intriguing and the story is very well written. Character development was great and I thought Brecken and Lizzie were an ador

It's fitting that Ms. Larson titled Brecken and Lizzie's story Forbidden Lyrics. Their voyage is haunting, like a melody that stays firmly embedded on your heart and an ever repeated lyric that sets up residence in your mind. The best love song is the one that imprints itself on the soul. Forbidden Lyrics is right up there with the power ballads. Whether frustrated, tempted or heartbreaking, this couple knows how to make readers feel. That's a glowing recommendation for an author in my opinion.

Forbidden Lyrics by Jodie Larson
“Forbidden romance, 5 stars”

Brecken has always had a thing for his best friend’s sister, but years ago that idea was stomped out. Now though, those feelings are coming back. Will he be able to score and keep the girl he’s always wanted or will loyalty stand in the way?
Lizzie always dreamed of a life with Breck, it started out innocent enough and then grew over time. When she finally thought all the cards were falling into place her brother came in and ruined it al

It had been a while since I had read Jodie Larson's first two books in the Lightning Strikes series and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them-- this brought me right back to it! I loved the characters, getting to know Lizzie and Brecken and catching up with a few from the past. This book is standalone, but if you've read the first two, you'll enjoy this one just a bit more, so I'm thankful that I had. If you haven't, I think you will still like this one, but you should definitely pick up the f ...more

Forbidden Lyrics (Lightning Strikes, book 3) by Jodie Larson is just as phenomenal as it's predecessors but for entirely different reasons. I discovered Jodie before attending a author signing by chance. Over the course of reading the Lightning Strikes books, Brecken totally stole my heart. When I saw that his book was up next in the series, I started jumping up and down in my seat, and no joke, immediately started stalking the poor author on every social media site I could find her on. Forbidden Lyrics is the second book in Larson's Lightening Strikes rockstars series. It is a standalone, but the characters are interconnected and storylines continue from the previous two books in the series. Forbidden Lyrics is centered on bassist Brecken and Lizzie, the younger sister of his best friend/lead guitarist Myles. Nine years ago -- the night that Tatum left Myles, to be exact -- Breck and Lizzie shared a kiss that neither one of them have been able to forget. Unfortunatley, it neve ...more

1. I love Brecken. He might sound like a p**sy sometimes, but he’s to-swoon for,
2. Bro-code is real. S**t happens when you break them, except perhaps in the name of TRUE LOVE (but you might as well prove it).
3. Lizzie - needs to grow a pair for a while. Good thing she did.
4. Myles thinks Lizzie is twelve, a virgin and therefore no one touches her.
5. Myles is an idiot. But he means well.
6. This is the first book I read in the series.
7. I am aching to read the rest of the books
This is book three in this series, and was just as enjoyable as the first two books. There is a lot going on in this book, and will fit in with many readers preferences: Rockers, friends little sister, second chance, maybe even a little friends to lover romance too!

Brecken is a Rocker, and the bandmate of Lizzie's brother. They all grew up together, the 4 bandmates, and Lizzie seemed to always be hanging around. As they got older, the innocence of childhood gave way to the beginnings of feelings

Brecken Lavery has a secret! He has been in love with Lizzie for years. The only problem is that Lizzie also happens to be his best friend Myles's little sister! To say this is a forbidden romance would be an understatement and to make matters worse, Brecken and Myles are in a band together. Myles made his feelings known about the situation when he caught Brecken and Lizzie sharing a kiss many years ago and pulled Brecken out of the car and started an enormous fight. It almost ended their friend ...more

This is the first book I've read by Jodie Larson and the third installment in her Lightning Strikes series. I never knew the first two books existed so this book can definitely be read as a standalone. I loved this book.

This book centres around Brecken, who is the bass player in Lightning Strikes and Lizzie. Brecken was Lizzie's childhood crush but Myles, her big brother and lead singer of the band, basically forbid their relationship. Brecken, however, is willing to fight for what he wants. "St

Bro-code rule number one: don’t fall for your best friend’s little sister. Brecken and Lizzie threw that rule out the window and effed it sideways in the third installment of the Lighting Strikes Series by Jodie Larson. This novel brings sugary sweet charm and blazing hot sexiness to the table, and I loved every minute of it.

Both Brecken and Lizzie are torn between the love, need, and desire they feel towards each other, and the loyalty they have towards Lizzie’s brother. But when their feelings

Damn, I love a best friend’s little sister romance! Love the “how do we keep it hidden until we know it’s real so no one gets hurt” aspect. Love when the best friend finds out and his reaction. Love it love it love it.

And I loved Brecken. He knew Lizzie was off limits and did his best to stay away, but there was just something about her he couldn’t resist.

Lizzie’s all grown up. No longer Myles baby sister. And she wants to be taken seriously and seen as a woman. And she also wants Breck.

This is the first of this author that I have read and I really enjoyed it. The characters were interesting and funny. The story is a stand-alone, but there is quite a bit of mention of other characters and their lives that I assume were the main couples in the previous stories.

This is a story of two people who were very much into eachother in the past, but then due to circumstances could never officially become a couple. I liked the build to their relationship and how i

I always love a good musician romance and a (kind of) second chance romance, and this didn't disappoint. This also fits in the best friend's sister and friends to lovers tropes, as well. It was very sweet and turned into spicy, and everything in between. Lizzie is a strong, independent character who works hard to make her life her own, while not riding on the coattails of her rockstar brother. She is also lonely. Bandmate and childhood friend Brecken has always been Lizzy's protector and friend ...more

Jodie Larson and her Lightning Strikes series is just awesome in every member of this band. We finally get to know about Brecken and boy he is so not what I expected. I loved that he is not the usual rock star we read about but knows what he wants determined to get his own happiness. Then we have Lizzie the one woman who can bring him to his knees. Temptation, love and friendship is all what makes this book awesome by such a talented author that now I am waiting for Pax's story. Though it can re ...more

Lightning Strikes Again!

So so good! This was my favorite so far of the Lightning Strikes series! Brecken...gah...I loved him. He's definitely my favorite of the boys. I loved that he was sweet, sensitive, sexy and yet still had that touch of Alpha. I also loved getting to catch up with our other favorite couples from the Lightning Strikes series. My only complaint was with Lizzie. I felt she was kind of old to still be letting her brother control her life, so frustrating! Looking forward to rea

While I have not read the first 2 books in this series, I don't feel like I missed much from the first two in order to enjoy this story. And enjoy this story I did. My first by Jodie Larson but I have indeed put the first two of this series on my TBR/Series to complete lists. Lizzie and Brecken have a history. She is, of course, the little sister of one of the Lightning Strikes band members and we know the bro-code. She is completely off limits. But Brecken can't seem to stay away from Lizzie wh ...more

I should tell you right off that this is the third book in the series.  However, if you haven't read them, it won't affect your enjoyment of this story but it will give you some background into the other band members' relationships.

This book is written with such a light touch, that it just pulled me along for the ride, and before I knew it, the journey was over.  But what a blast it was!  I loved it.  Even the lack of communication.  Even the overbearing, overprotective brother.

This is my first Jodie Larson’s book and I was very pleasantly surprised! Forbidden Lyric’s was a fun, angsty, and hot story about friends, loyalty, and of course, love that comes with BIG decisions.

Brecken & Lizzie have a special kind of love and their journey to overcome obstacles was no easy feat.
Music and love....there’s obviously bound to get messy!

Definitely will not be my only Jodie Larson book!!

Brecken and Lizzie have been in love for 10 years but after Myles the best friend and big brother made Brecken promise not to pursue Lizzie they have been ignoring the fact that they are in love.

A sweet book with a great cast of characters but really you need to read the other books in the series first.

4 Stars

Nothing like your big brother and best friend to cramp your style when you’re trying to attract the love of your life. Break and Lizzie proved that a) don’t keep shit to yourselves. No,really it is bound to go bad. b) holding out for 15 years is probably not a wise idea c) not texting or calling after you totally messed up is also not okay.

I really enjoyed Forbidden Lyrics it is the first book I've read by Jodie Larson and can be read as a standalone but saying that I feel liked I would have connected with the characters a lot better so I'd recommend that you start from the beginning . The characters were really likable even though they did frustrate me at times , they had amazing chemistry and I wanted them to get a happy ending .
Over all this is a good read with a non boring plot , great characters , and look at this cover WOW

Sexy musician? Check
Brother's bestfriend? Check
Reconnecting of "could have been romance"? Check!!

Brecken waited nine years, NINE years for his moment with Lizzie. Those nine years led to some serious heat on these pages. I love how Breck basically DGAF about what anyone thought of his feelings for Lizzie.
I love that each of these are stand alones in a series.

Brecken has always had a thing for Lizzie, at first it was just as his best friend's little sister. Then the older they got one kiss changed it all. That once kiss changed more than his relationship with Lizzie but also his best friend.

Even once on the road Brecken wasn't a man whore like most musicians. He always had a place for Lizzie. When the band came home for a while, it was finally their chance but don't you know secrets are only secrets if no one else knows?

I absolutely adored Brecken an

Reading is a passion of mine. My love for the written word was rekindled a few years ago, and it's been a blessing to discover everything that is out there.
