Historians in Atlantis inscribed a prophecy in The Great Book of Forgetting about a pair of phoenix whose union would change the future of all magical creatures. When the sea swallowed Atlantis and all her inhabitants, time forgot the people and this prophecy.

But one creature survived.

I have been waiting for over a year for this book to come out for real. It was truly worth the wait. Sherry has created a world that feels so real, sometimes I forget I’m reading fiction and I can’t just walk out my front do and see these characters. Her three-dimensional characters are so solid I half expect to get Christmas cards from them. I love them. Her women are strong and if you’ve read many of my posts, you know that means a lot to me. She blends folklore and mythology with her own diab ...more

Fantasies including mythical creatures like dragons and fairies are a dime a dozen. Fantasies written well enough to virtually allow the reader to forget that these creatures aren't actually real are most definitely not common. Time and Blood is a relatively short novel, though not short on details somehow. The characters demand to be cared for and the dialogue directs each scene without the dreaded "telling" aftertaste we all know and despise. With a plot full of action and heart, this book pul ...more

I knew I'd be in for a treat when I read Time and Blood by Sherry Rentschler, as she is a gifted story teller. She is an award winning author who writes from the heart. One of her poetry books, The Book of Now, weaves a tapestry of yesterday's history, today's news and tomorrow's hope.  Time and Blood, the first book of her Evening Bower series is similar, but in novel form. Time and Blood  tells the prophecy of the Scarlet Phoenix, recorded in The Great Book of Forgetting, and the pairing of Et ...more

Time and Blood is written in a unique narrative style. Each section switches between characters, yet each section is presented from a first person point of view. You cannot get the entire story without reading multiple sections. Each character has a very unique voice that is easily distinguished from all the other characters.

Unfortunately, this can leave the plot a bit confusing. The main character, Rhea, has lived for millenniums. It is no wonder that her grasp of the concrete here and now is

Author Sherry Rentschler takes the reader on an intricate journey into a mystery of Atlantis. This novel tells the story of Rhea, who is one of the creatures that ancient Atlantis’ The Great Book of Forgetting said will come and change the future with their partner. However, Rhea has escaped from this ancient island but is still off to find her long-lost soulmate. You’ll read about her journey as she fights through many obstacles to reach her soulmate, a vampire in New Orleans named Jean-Louis.

Never thought a vampire love story would be my “type”.

Time and Blood really isn’t my usual type of book. But the storyline intrigued me so I thought I’d give it a shot! I have to admit, it was actually a really good read. Sherry Rentschler really did a wonderful job creating characters that had depth and well, character! I did get lost with the many names of Jean-Louis, particularly when he was referred to using all his names within a few paragraphs. But other that I loved the characters. The s

Five Star fantasy
This is a fantasy that takes place in our own world, but it is a world that we share with others, hidden beings that exist in the shadows, cheek-by-jowl with the human population; sea elves, vampires, angels and the most important of all, the last remaining phoenix. I loved the way this story began with the story of the ancient phoenixes and dragons which lived alongside humans until humans became tainted and decided to kill them for their plumage or their meat. The history is e

The plot of the story was what got my interest in the beginning. Rhea the last of her Phoenix kind. She loss her mate and go on with life grieving the lost of her mate. To find out her mate come be alive and a vampire name Jean- Louis.

The book has multiple perspectives, which is cool. It seem really fast pasted and it all happens in short period of time. It's confusing because the two main perspectives, Rhea and Jean-louis, go back a forth but you re-encounter the same event in both perspectives

This was a very interesting premise and original in a category that can be anything but ... let's face it Paranormal fiction is becoming more diverse.

I found it a slow read but very interesting. I just had a hard time with the pacing. It was a really well constructed world with vivid characters. Give it a try maybe it will be a quick and good read!
