During my cancer journey, family and their support meant the world to me. Elaine shares her husband's journey and how their family prayed, encouraged, and reached out to Wayne and each other through the ups and downs of his treatments. The book contains suggestions for how family and friends can help ease the process and keep daily life in tune with the Lord. I especially love the Pondering questions at the end of each chapter. This book is an excellent gift for those facing cancer and families supporting them!
Elaine's warm narrative carries the reader along on an honest journey through cancer with undertones of scripture truths. I felt like I was sitting on the couch next to Elaine telling her honest story. Not just a journal, but a chronicle of heartfelt emotions she and her husband experienced during the ups and downs of his cancer trial, including perspectives from her children. It portrays how love and prayers from others, and comfort of the Lord upheld them. Being a former elementary teacher and now a hospice volunteer, I can see how it would be useful in hospice settings, or in dealing with children concerning serious illnesses. Adorable tales of how grandchildren showed their love by drawings, notes and their presence with Elaine and Papa proved a healthy dose for all generations. A helpful gift for those going through any kind of difficult trial.
