I absolutely loved this book. It is exceptionally written story with some amazing characters. I quite enjoyed reading it. I think it's a must read for all historical fiction fans.
It all starts when Miss Holden's cousin decides what is best for her without considering her feelings. But soon after he regrets his actions and writes a letter of warning to her. She doesn't know the whole story so she assumes the worst about Lord Wesley and makes up her mind to stay away from him at all costs. However

This book was a pleasant surprise from start to finish, like one of those yummy ice creams you want to eat as fast as you can, but then you're sad when it's over and you wish you'd taken your time savouring it more haha

Kathy was a lovely surprise, a little spitfire of a lady well beyond her time, independent and not in the market for a husband. Welsey, well, he's the type of gentleman you don't leave your innocent daughter with haha. I absolutely loved these two together!!! But even more than th
A Mistress for Penndrake is a matchmaker trope with a twist. At the start of this story, Miss Kate Holden had received a letter from her cousin Edward telling her that he has made a grave mistake and to stay away from a certain Lord Wesley at any and all costs. Of course, Kate has no idea what Edward is speaking of because he gave her no history as to why Lord Wesley would even be trying to befriend her to start with. While Kate is pondering what illness may have overtaken her cousin, the story ...more

Wesley is more of a demanding than asking sort of man, “I did not pose it as a question, Miss Holden.” Wesley sometimes has to ease his lady's fears, "Wesley closed the distance between them. “Not all men without their clothes are…skinny, small, and…atrocious,” he said, trying not to chuckle when Kate sent him a disbelieving glance." I liked this book, I loved that Kate was witty and challenged Wesley.
From the “Ye Olde” dialogue that peppers this tale to the bosoms nearly falling out of their confines, Tammy L. Bailey’s A MISTRESS FOR PENNDRAKE is a delightfully entertaining tale of romance and the sticky wicket two souls make of falling in love!

Kate is not in the market for a husband, especially if it is one her father has chosen for her. This fiery female is independent, a little less than graceful and certainly not afraid to speak her mind. All in all, she is a woman before her time trappe

A sizzling battle of wills that scorches the pages. The story is filled with words hurled back and forth as weapons in a war to see who will give in first to the feelings crackling between the two major characters. The push and pull between then is what makes this book such a page turner. In the end they both win as they get their happily ever after.

I really, really wanted to LOVE this book, but I just couldn’t get there. I am sure it would appeal to the majority of historical romance readers, it just didn’t appeal to me and left me puzzled and with many unanswered questions – so many things that just didn’t make sense to me.

I read the premise, it sounded wonderful and I couldn’t wait to get started on it. Then, I learned that the hero, The Marquess of Wesley, is going to take revenge on Garrett,

A Mistress for Penndrake by Tammy L. Bailey is the story of Kate Holden and Nathaniel,The Marquess of Wesley.

A Mistress for Penndrake by Tammy L. Bailey is my first book by this author ...i would say not bad ....quite promising even though the story was predictable ... the plus factor is the humour & hilarious dialogues, scenes which was quite comical and entertaining....

Nathaniel,The Marquess of Wesley is striving to regain his heritage and trying to undo the devastation his father left to Pendrake, their ancestral home. He discovers his father gambled it away . Now Wesley is being blackmailed by the
The very moment Kate receives a letter from her cousin warning her of Lord Wesley, who does she meet? Lord Wesley. His home was gambled away and in order to get it back he must marry Kate. But in an act of revenge against the blackmailer, Wesley decides to seduce and ruin Kate, win his home back and marry an heiress.

This story had a lot of push and pull from the main characters. I must say that I had a hard time with Wesley’s decision except each time he had the opportunity to ruin Kate, he did

A new alluring and exciting historical romance from a truly gifted author, Tammy L. Bailey. Alike her other story previously reviewed, "A Mistress for Penndrake" is so exquisitely sculpted that the passion seeps from pages. This beautifully constructed story reads seamlessly, with wonderfully engaging characters and a plot filled with turmoil, blackmail, desire and above all the hope of a forever love. A truly delightful novel that had me hooked from the beginning, reading way into the night, no ...more

Miss Kate Holden is trying to train herself to be a governess. She is a gently bred woman who's family is struggling financially. She is staying with her cousins and helping them through the season. Her father is trying to persuade her to marry his apprentice, who she dislikes immensely. When our heroine gets a letter from a cousin warning her away from a man she has never heard of things get confusing.

I loved this book! Great characters and a plot with lots of twists and turns.

Miss Kate Holden is determined to become a governess. Her father, who in financial difficulty, is trying to talk her into marrying his business partner, but she's determined to find any way out of that that she can.

Marquess of Wesley, Earl of Chelmsford is desperately trying to save his estate, which is in dreadful financial circumstances because his father gambled it away. He is being blackmailed by Kate's cousin, who

I did enjoy this book, although it did seem to lack pace at times. Kate is determined not to marry and has been hiding herself away from attention by dressing in older, drab clothes. Nathaniel, Lord Wesley is striving to regain his heritage. Wesley was used to women throwing themselves at him, not only was he handsome but he held the title of Marquess. Kate wants nothing to do with Wesley, having been warned by her cousin, Edward. Wesley has a dastardly plan for Kate but as they grow to know eac ...more

Kate Holden receives a note from her cousin, Edward Garrett, to stay away from Lord Wesley. Only one problem, she does not know a Lord Wesley. Eventually, she does meet him. She is concerned not knowing exactly what is the danger. Lord Wesley took over the title after his father died. He inherited quite a few debts. His father had even gambled away their home.
An unusual story, so many things happen between the characters. The problems develop and you can see the growth thru out the story. I lov

I really enjoyed A Mistress for Pendrake, this was my first time reading Tammy L. Bailey. Her writing is full of emotional dilemmas for our characters. Wesley has been coerced into an engagement he doesn’t really want and has conceived a plan to ruin the young lady he’s forced to marry....if he wants his estate back which he lost playing cards. Until he meets the young woman and everything just goes out the window.
This was an endearing emotional read full of humour and delightful bantering and

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY..... a FIVE star read that is entitled to the good read banner. I was undecided on what to write... This book is a slow starting leading path into each curve. I loved the twists the turns the suspense in the romance. I enjoyed the characters the way each was portrayed and the writers way of setting the scene where the readers are enthralled. It was a read that I did not put down until I finished! This author is definitely one I will be watching for in the future for she has t ...more

I liked this book more than I thought I would based on the first few chapters. Upon our lead characters "meet cute", they fall into immediate heavy lust, which was very hard to believe. It's the reason I wasn't sure I'd continue reading. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the whole rest of the book dealt with our leads dealing with their feelings, both for each other and for their situations in life. Some of it was a bit repetitive, but their struggles made it all the more interesting. I'd ...more

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

I enjoyed how Wesley and Kate challenged each other. They were also not afraid to ask each other difficult questions. Although, Wesley doesn’t have good intentions with regards to Kate, he struggles with following through, and the progressions of his feelings for her are revealed throughout the story. Kate too struggles with her feelings and realizing that the plan she had for her life before she met Wesley isn’t really what she wants.

I was captivated from the start of this book. The tension and actions between the main characters had me turning the pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. Ms. Bailey's writing style was very smooth and flowing. I loved the emotional rush at the end.

Why is it oh so satisfying when a slip of a girl takes down a bad-boy marquess? Tammy Bailey has written a classic slow burn in which you know he’s going to topple from on high and when he does, it is so worth the wait. Thank you, Tammy. May I have another?

Gambling for an important wager sometimes does not turn out the way it should. Or does it in the end? Lord Wesley is trying to regain all his dead father had gambled away, including his ancestral home, Penndrake. The new owner, Edward wagers with him that he will have to marry his cousin Miss Kate Holden in order to have the property in his name. Oh what a tangled web woven on that wager.
