Oh my gosh this was an amazing read. One of the best books by far. All I can say is wow. What an amazing job Mya has done with this story.

I was pleased to read this book. There were twists here and there so many surprising turns I didn't expect and lived every minute of this story. The writing was phenomenal. I couldn't put this book down.

The characters were good Hope was my favorite she did have a fear though but once she merts Clooney he wants to try to help her and wants a little more as we

What an unprecedented delight. The House that Adelia Built it not only a fast-paced read, it’s also an eerie one, one that is simply delightful and creepy. Part of what makes this novel so good is the atmosphere it holds is so eerie. Taking place in a lighthouse above the bluffs creates an isolate atmosphere that is reminiscent of Stephen King. It has this tone that makes it eerie without adding much to it. O’Malley lets the story speak for itself, she lets the description build upon itself and ...more

The House That Adeila Built by Mya O'Malley is a story about mystery, romance and ghosts. This is not my first story by this author but I will say that it is my favorite of hers yet. Her writing style is such that it just pulls me in right from the beginning. Her attention to details make me feel like I am right there with the characters. With this story it is like reading two different stories in one book. She switches back in forth between the present and the past but she does it in a way wher ...more

The House that Adelia Built by Mya O’Malley is so much more than a paranormal romance. There is so much going for this fascinating tale of love, lies, loss, betrayal, heartache, mystery, suspense, nightmares, discovery, surprises, isolation, madness, confusion, conflict, drama, adventure, happiness, tragedy, unravelling the truth, trust, and finding closure. The story had so many interconnected elements and character details that I really was glued to the pages and paying close attention

The story The House that Adelia Built by Mya O’Malley is an amazing book that I absolutely loved reading. It is a beautiful story that includes romance and ghosts. The book goes back and forth between the present day and the late 1800’s. It tells the story of two women, Hope and Adelia. Hope lives in the present day and Adelia lived in the past. You read of Adelia and how her marriage had such a happy beginning and how it changes after h

Mya O’Malley is not a new author to me, but I must confess this has to be my absolute favorite novel she has published so far, and I have read all but two of her others. That is really saying a lot coming from me as I am not normally a fan of historical romances of any sort. The dates and things jumping back and forth from present day to the past often is just not easy for me to follow and therefore makes it hard to enjoy the book. O’Malley really does this transitioning effortlessly and smoothl ...more

This author tells some of the most fantastically haunting stories, and this one quickly became one of my favorites. It centers around a lighthouse and the lure it has for an agoraphobic young woman named Hope. As she fights to confront her fears, she must also explore that attraction she has for the lighthouse she lives near and for which she is a tour guide. There is something there that keeps her captive, and in her effort to find freedom from her affliction, she meets Clooney who wants to not ...more

Well, not just, because I finished the book about 2 hours ago and have been trying to figure out how I feel about what I read, and I've been visiting her profile so I can figure out how many more books I'll be downloading since I will be reading every single word she has written.

I'll start by saying I absolutely with no doubt about it, loved this book!! It was written beautifully and read just the same. It was like h

In 1876 Adelia MacGregor was living beside a lighthouse with her husband, Augustus, who was no longer the man she married. Once full of life he had become jealous and reclusive and he frightened Adelia.

In 2017 Hope and her best friend Tracy were now living in the house beside the lighthouse on Amity Island and they were trying to discover the past of the area. There was something about the lighthouse that intrigued Hope and she had a hard time leaving it.

As Hope learns about the past she meets C

I give The House Adelia Built by Mya O'Malley, 4 stars.

This was such an interesting book. First you have Adelia, the woman from long ago who lived in the lighthouse with her husband. This seemingly adoring couple moved in, but things quickly changed. Everybody says it's just from the isolation. But is that what is really happening to her husband? Or is it something else?

And then there's Hope. She currently lives in and maintains the lighthouse as a historical museum. She love and adores the ligh

I absolutely LOVE this author! Her books are just a pleasure to read. From the captivating prologue until the very end I was completely drawn into this story! There were twists and turns everywhere and the ending was definitely not what I was expecting at all! I love the way the author presented this story by telling two people’s tales simultaneously and also intertwining past and present. It was really cleverly written and my attention was kept

Wow! Where to start?! I just love Mya O’Malley’s books! This is the fifth book by her that I’ve read and they all have been so wonderful! In “The House That Adelia Built” we meet Adelia in 1876 and Hope in 2017, two women who love the same lighthouse and live to care for it. Hope is a shy, soft spoken woman who always had trouble making friends besides her roommate, Tracy. Adelia is a lonely woman with only her gin swilling husband to talk to, who is desperate for a real friend. Mya O’Malley bea ...more

Stories that take place between the past and the present can be difficult to write but this author nailed it! Sometimes the constant switching bothers me but in this story, it worked so incredibly well and flowed without issue. Adelia and Hope are the two main characters, Adelia lives in the past and Hope in the future. Both stories are full of romance but also of great sadness. Hope deals with nightmares and anxiety about being away from the place she calls home, Adelia deals with the nightmare ...more

I experienced many mixed feelings throughout Mya O’Malley’s The House That Adelia Built, while the story is incredibly well written with great attention to detail, something was not meeting my expectations. That is, until the ending of the book, the ending left me satisfied, and the final direction of the story was almost chilling.

The House that Adelia Built by Mya O'Malley is the story of two women that live almost 200 years apart. It is a book about love, loss, betrayal and even ghosts. Adelia moved to the lighthouse with her husband in the early 1800’s. At first everything fine. However the longer that her husband remained isolated the more he changed, becoming violent and nearly insane. How will Adelia deal with the changes in her husband? Hope moves into the house near the same lighthouse in 2017. Strangely drawn to ...more

This is not the first book that I have read from Ms. O’Malley but I have to say it is one of the better ones. The story takes place on an island mainly in a lighthouse. The book flips between the 1800’s, with Adelia and Augustus to present day with Hope and Clooney.

I'm not a massive fan of ghost stories but Mya O'Malleys books seem to be the exception for me as all of hers that I've read so far I have enjoyed. The House that Adelia Built is another one that I've enjoyed and whilst it's not your typical romance (I admit I am a big romance fan) it really surprised me in just how much the story did ensnare me in its grip.

The House that Adelia Built is the first book that I have read by Mya O’Malley.
It was an intriguing tale told from 2 different points of view across 2 different times: Adelia -a wife persecuted by her husband but determined to stay with him and make the marriage work and Hope, a complex character who struggles with apparent agoraphobia.
