➦This was actually a pretty enjoyable read. Being a 3rd person POV, it actually read really well. One thing I was surprised to learn that this is a NOVELLA. Let me tell you, some of the contemporary romances out there that call themselves full length novels are not much longer than this. Just felt like a short novel to me.
➦If you like romance stories about royals then you might enjoy this book. It's pretty fast paced and I certainly got some feels from it. So, all things considering, pretty awe ...more
Brinley Cantrella has always been the “bad Princess”. Always failing to meet the expectations set for her, so everyone just stopped expecting anything but bad. That is until Brinley’s sister, perfect Princess, Elle does the last thing anyone expects and leaves. She runs away from the life she’d been so perfect for. This leaves Brinley as the only princess from her kingdom to once again meet the expecatation ...more

Bad Princess by Julianna Keyes

Rating: 4 stars

Summary (from Goodreads):
Notorious for leaping off roofs, maiming foreign royals, and that twerking incident, Brinley Cantrella of Estau is nobody’s definition of a good princess. She’s fearless and bold, not good and gracious. And after a lifetime of being told she’s unfit to be queen, wearing the crown and helping to usher Estau int ...more
A really fast paced story with many ups and downs. A really nice and fast read!
Brinley was such a cool badass. 😎
She was always doing what she thought was right, even when they told her she was the bad princess.
Sometimes she was so relatable. I really liked her!
And Finn was a handsome prince who showed his true character at the end. But throughout the story I always had doubts about him.
The relationship between Finn and Brinley was like a ...more
But when her perfect sister up and abdicates the throne to run off with a commoner, Brinley's world is tilted on its axis. But Elle didn't just leave her royal responsibilities and duties behind, she also left her royal fiancé behind ...more
Brinley is the "bad princess"—always making mistakes, always in the spotlight for doing the wrong thing. In reality, she is living life and truly enjoying it. I loved her—she made me laugh, she made me smile and I enjoyed her character not being the normal pri ...more
One of my favorite tropes to read about is Royalty fiction. I guess this could stem from my love of Disney Princesses and movies starring Prince and Princesses like The Prince and Me. In Julianna Keyes's new book Bad Princess, we are introduced to Brinley who is the second daughter of the current King and Queen of Estau. Brinley as a second child was always the one to get into mischief; she was the crazy one who always wanted to live her life to the full and had no inhibitions. She was confident ...more

Bad Princess is a novella that will leave you wishing it was a full book. The MCs are both intriguing and I wish that all the events from their childhood and youth we witnessed instead of hearing them just mentioned in passing.
Recommended. Fun, short and hoooot. :)
Ms. Keye's writing always draws me into her stories. Her words flow so smoothly it was easy to get swiped up into a royal disposition and the castle setting. With the exception of the protagonists I kind of hated all the other characters. Their snobby and selfish behaviour grated o ...more

This book took me by complete surprise. I went into it knowing nothing and came out impressed.
This is a NA book so if you don't like reading explicit sex scenes maybe this isn't the book for you. This is a story that reminds me of one of my favorite movies ever, The Princess diaries: Royal engament. The premise is that there is a princess that when found in an compromising situation with the prince of neighboring kingdom is forced to wed him. And so a beautiful romance begins....more
This book is set during modern times, but it deals heavily with royalty.
This is a quick, fun read.
I’m always impressed by Julianna Keyes’ versatility as an author. She’s sort of a fearless author as she’s not afraid to try out new things with her books, and I like that a lot about her. Bad Princess, might just be a novella, but it’s an engrossing and satisfying story from start to finish. We’re introduced to Brinley, whose sister has just abdicated the crown as a result of which she has to take on her sister’s responsibilities. Growing up, she has always been second best to her sister, and r ...more
After a long workday and crazy night, I prepared for a few hours of brain candy. I went into this wanting and expecting a fluffy romance read. What I got was something more nuanced, with humor, love, heartbreak, and depth. And somehow it turned out to be what I needed.
Brinley is full of spunk, emotions, and energy. I loved her as a character and could easily relate to her. Finn was a bit more of an enigma, but I fell for him all the same. I thought they worked really well as a couple a ...more
4.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
You guys...YOU GUYS. I am in fucking love. And I'm going to have to bleep that for Amazon. But seriously, this was a LENORE book through and through. And it was all Brinley! OK, not all Brinley, Finian's kind of da bomb as well...I'll get to him. But Brinley...oh Brinley. She has made my girl crush list!!!! And if you know me, that happens fa ...more
This New Adult novella included two of my favorite romance tropes, a marriage of convenience and ROYALS! So obviously I had to read it!
From the very start, I was invested in the story, Brinley was such a relatable character. Finn was a breath of fresh air when it comes to heroes, especially these days in romancelandia where alphas are everywhere. Thank you, Julianna Keyes, for creating this rather shy, quiet and sweet hero.
A couple of situations were a bit unrealistic, perhaps because the aut ...more
The story has the length of a novella and as such the plot is short and straight-to-the-point which I really appreciate. Although it was written in the normal 3rd person voice, it was all from the heroine, Brinley's POV. So we read what goes on only from what Brinley experiences and views.
The political machinations w ...more
Short, sweet and sexy! Bad Princess follows the misfits of the known as "Bad Princess" Brinley and how an almost drunk mistake follows a small adventure and the romance she develops for her...husband.
I liked this story. While short, it's complete and doesn't leave loose ends. I would even love to see a prequel story about Brinley's sister Ella. And while there is a rollercoaster of rem ...more

♥ The writing. I read a few books by Julianna Keys, and I really enjoy her writing. This one was great. The book is told through Brinley’s point of view, in the third person.
♥ I really enjoyed the premise and the plot.
♥ I liked the characters too, I loved Brinley, and I enjoyed reading about Finn too.
♦ The lack of depth. This was way too short, and it needed more pages to actually develop everything appropriately. It needed more character developmen ...more
Seriously though, this book is about a princess who has a bad reputation, but is really a good person. AKA, I'm pretty sure the soundtrack for this book should just be Reputation by Taylor Swift, which is something I am so on board with as it's the current soundtrack for my entire life. The prince she falls in love with is all about honor and duty, but admires her for ...more
Princess Brinley Cantrella of Estau can do nothing right, while her sister Elle is perfect – at least until Elle abdicates her role as next in line to rule the kingdom by running away with a lumberjack.
