I have to say this is such a unique collection of stories that all center around the Final Draft Tavern. The prologue at the beginning definitely hooked me. There is a great fire in London in 1675 and the only surviving building in sight was the Tavern. The Marchand family and their cat Whiskers are the keeper of the Tavern. What was going on her? Magic? Time travel? There was no way to understand until I began reading the stories. The first story by Mari Christie takes us to the eve of the War ...more

Paranormal tales of hope and freedom
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The Final Draft Tavern is/has been/will be a unique refuge. It exists wherever and whenever needed, as that place where the downtrodden and abused of the larger society may find assistance, acceptance, and new purpose in life.. Whether that is escape from the past: the Black Death in medieval London, a pivotal encounter with President Lincoln on the eve of the War Between t

I loved this book. It has everything I want in a book. Fantastic stories, alternative history, a bit of time travel, noble rakes ... and a sprinkle of magic!
But it is not all good and feel good. It makes you wonder, you have to sympathise even if you don't agree.
Great stories that bring up all what ifs and make you wonder about the roads untraveled.
I recommend this!

Fun short stories featuring a pub in time.

Several of the stories are dystopian. Some are historical. My favor was Beverly Diehl. All feature a cat named whiskey

Mari was “raised up” in journalism (mostly raising her glass at the Denver Press Club bar) after the advent of the web press, but before the desktop computer. She has since plied her trade as a writer, editor, and designer across many different fields, and currently works as a technical writer and editor.

Under the name Mari Christie, she has released a book-length epic poem, Saqil pa Q'equ'mal: L
