I read Caught in the Current by Pauline Creeden. Reading Bailey's story also gave me a lot more insight when it comes to Verona's life. The lack of information about Verona's life was the main reason I didn't give Salt five stars. This novella opened up a whole new world to me and I think I understand Verona more now. She is such a sweet person and even though she has done nothing, she takes the blame just so Bailey can keep his position. The only thing important to her is her father and seeing him with dementia can't be easy. Especially once she is chosen to be exiled that year. I have to say while reading Salt I didn't really like Bailey. He seemed really pushy and mean. I understand him a lot better now. He feels guilty that she was blamed for something he was involved in and wants to make it up to her. Sometimes he tries a bit too hard. Even though it's probably not easy going against his family's wishes. There is definitely something going on with the elders in their world and how the power is divided. I hope we get more information about this later on in other books. Pauline Creeden has definitely created an interesting world!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Reviews for Stolen by the Sea Lord and Kiss Of Frost:

Kiss of Frost:

Oh. My. God. What an incredibly exciting, way-to-hot-to-handle, fast paced, action-packed romance with one MEGA GORGEOUS dragon shifter and a seriously wonderful heroine! Kiss of Frost is book one of Gracely Knox's brand new Dragon Stone Saga, and I have to say, I NEED more! This book exceeded EVERY ONE of my expectations and then some. It was fun, super sexy, with heart-stopping action and some really amazing characters. The banter was great and I just ADORED the way our hero, Beck talked. I could practically hear his voice and the way he spoke in my head and it had me weak in the knees and wanting to melt.

Kiss of Frost I think is even more amazing than Miss Knox's Wicked Kingdom series, and I don't say that lightly because that series is AMAZING. But there is just something...so special about this Dragon Stone Saga that has me going gaga. I love a good dragon Shifter story, but this one, BLEW ME AWAY! Its so exciting and HOT HOT HOT and the characters are just terrific. I can't wait for the next one!

Kiss Of Frost gets a SMOKING HOT FIVE SHOOTING STARS! This is a breathtaking read.

Stolen By The Sea Lord:

I have been highly anticipating Elan's story for a while now. And it was...FANTASTIC! A little different, a lot of this story took place on land. It showed the hurt, the struggle, the passion, and the love that never really died between Elan and Zara. And we get to see the bond Zara got to make with her son, after she hadn't seen him in a year thanks to her being taken away from Elan and Drageo Azul.

This was such a great read! Full of the dangers from a lot of the mer community and working on retrust and love on the surface with Zara, I feel like Elan had his work cut out for him but it made for one incredible story! And we learn HOW Elan and Zara met and I have to say, it had endured Elan to me even more than I could ever imagine. I just LOVED and ADORED Stolen By The Sea Lord SO MUCH! Even though Torun will always be my #1, Elan is a close second. He is strong, sexy, determined, caring, sweet, and perfectly arrogant at times that had me wanting to swoon. Zara is bold, brave, feisty and her attitude was a lot different than some of the previous heroines and I really liked that. She had no problems telling Elan how she felt and how hurt she was and the way she works at getting closer to her son and finally forming the bond that should of been formed the year before was something significantly precious that had me sniffling. This story certainly won me over and I can't wait for MANY more mer tales!

Stolen By The Sea Lord gets a MIGHTY SWOON WORTHY FIVE SHOOTING STARS! I can't get enough of these mer stories. Starla Night takes me away under the sea full of amazing scenes, great characters, and irresistible stories.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read "Dragonmount" by Jennifer M. Eaton.
I have previously read 3 other Jennifer M. Eaton books and I absolutely loved them, so I went into this book already knowing it was going to be good. And I was right. The characters are well developed; the writing style is amazing. I couldn't think of any other way to start off 2018 then to finish this amazing book.

Sirens and Scales is a fantastic collection of books. (And what a steal, who wouldn't want 26 full novels for only 99 cents on amazon kindle!) By far my favorite from what I've read of this collection so far is Dragonmount by Jennifer Eaton. This review will be specifically for this novel.

Dragonmount is a breath-taking, action-packed paranormal story that will blow your mind. There are a lot of dragon-shifter stories and novels out there but none are quite like this.

Our two main characters, Anna and Joe, are characters that we learn to love throughout the story. Anna is an innocent girl trying to find herself in a new place when we meet her. We see her go from this girl who has been broken by something in her past and desperately wants to reinvent herself, to someone who is strong-willed and independent. When we meet Joe, it's obvious he is a scared man running away from something. We see tremendous character growth from him, in particular, as he realizes what he needs to do.

The setting and plot of this story are so interesting. Jennifer Eaton creates a fantastic world for us to fall into, one where Dragons are real and great and terrifying. This novel has a lot of history and backbone and there are a lot of political themes here, too. These political themes parallel with some of things going on in our world.

The only thing I regret about this book is that it wasn't longer. I would have absolutely loved to have more time with the characters in the beginning, to really get to know them more, and to see the story unfold more.

After I picked up this book, I was hooked and I didn't want it to end. The small cliffhanger at the end left me strongly desiring more but not feeling unsatisfied with the ending, which I think is a testament to the writing.

I strongly recommend this novel to anyone who likes science fiction or paranormal or who just wants to escape into a new world for a bit.

I'm giving this only 3 stars because every book is a prequel and not even a full novella, I could say I'm pisst because I was looking forward to full length novels. But at the same time, I did end up following a few authors because their writing had me wanting more - like 3 authors and thought well I could give them a shot and buy their books. Prequels are ok if they give you some sort of closure but that never happened. The majority of these stories were cliff hangers and I got no satisfaction because in order to get satisfaction you had to buy the other book in the series and to top that off, some authors haven't even written the 1st novel.

Example: A guy and girl meet in bar - guy puts his arms around girl and she leans into him as his lips get closer to her - The End.

Like for real! Seriously, that's not anything that I got out of these stories from this book, the sentence is totally made up but every prequel was like that in a sense - just like an incomplete sentence. I learned my lesson and wont be buying these bundled books again.

Stones of Dragontias

When Kya flew to the U.S. she was only looking for a mentor. What she found in Armstrong was the love of her life ! This dragon shifter story shows that love and family is stronger than rules and customs. ND Jones once again has mastered the paranormal genre!

I am in heaven with all these books in this collection, who wouldnt want 26 full length novels in the urban fantasy and paranormal romance genre! Most of the authors in this set I have either read some of their books or want to read some and then there are a few authors that are new to me. I will be doing updates of new reviews when I complete the stories within this collection
So far I have only read Once Bitten by Tina Glasneck which is a intriguing new series that is set in the Dragons universe. There is plenty of secrets revolving around a prophecy, the gods and mates that keep you pulled in and wondering just what will happen to Leslie in the next books.

Sirens & Scales is a stellar collection of 26 full length paranormal romance and urban fantasy stories. Entertaining and enjoyable, these are fun and steamy reads. My favorite is Starla Night's Stolen by the Sea Lord. A wonderful and emotional second chance romance between a sexy merman and his mate. Join Elan in his struggle to win back Zara, make up for the mistakes of the past and finally get the HEA they deserve. If you have never read any of the Lord's of Atlantis books this is the perfect way to dive in. All together this is an awesome collection of pleasurable reads. I'm posting a voluntary review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

I am going to write this review specifically for Kelly Anne Blount's book by waters edge. This book was unique and beautifully written and kept me hooked until the end. There were so many twists in the story, it has made me cry at some points when dragons catches the entire merpeople on a net and they were very weak to escape from the clutch. This story protagonist was very brave and kind and witty that will make you love this story even more. If you are planning to read this story from the ending just to find the ending, you are going to ruin the fun of reading this story so read from beginning and you will enjoy it.

Note my review is for the story Dragonmount by Jennifer M Eaton I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my third time reading Jennifer M Eaton and I can firmly add her to the list of my go to authors after devouring dragonmount it was fantastic. I actually didn't really know what to expect as I haven't read a whole lot of Dragon books but this book definitely packs a punch.

It had great characters, Joe and Anna were fantastic and I loved the bond they formed in this. I absolutely adored Joe and Nik's connection too. And I can't leave a review without mentioning Connor what a guy loved him and all the rest mostly Joe stole my heart and I seriously wish there was a follow up to this because man that ending so left me wanting more

Ace job Jennifer and I cannot wait for more stories to come. If you're looking for a good Dragon story with lots of character growth and family/friendship/love bonding then Dragonmount is definitely one to pick up.

NOTE: My review covers MOONSTONE PROPHECY by Carly Fall

4.5 stars--

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 2, 2018

When an astrological event opens up the seams of the universe, paranormal entities swarm the town of Saint’s Grove, some for noble reasons, others with evil intent.

In the sleepy town of Saints Grove, Virginia, Eric never expected to find anything but a good sandwich, friendly people, and a little rest and relaxation while trying to put his life back together.

When the seams of the universe open and Eric is attacked by a demon, Tirvu promptly saves him. He immediately recognizes her as the same woman who has been torturing him in his dreams by showing him images of death and destruction while begging him to follow her.

Tirvu is a dragon-shifter from another realm. The disappearance of a religious symbol from her world, the Moonstone, has caused a long war among her people. She’s taken it upon herself to recover it and return it, which will end the hundreds of years of fighting. However, she can’t do it without Eric’s help.

When he agrees to assist her in finding the relic, their search propels them into a world of vampires, werewolves and demons.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: 4.5 stars----MOONSTONE PROPHECY by Carly Fall is part of the multi-authored SIRENS AND SCALES paranormal/fantasy anthology. This is computer programmer Eric, and dragon shifter Tirvu’s story line. MOONSTONE PROPHECY is loosely connected to, and follows the same time line as the October 2016 Saint’s Grove anthology. Some of the characters from the original anthology crossover for cohesion and familiarity.

NOTE: There are 26 paranormal/fantasy story lines included with the Sirens and Scales anthology. My review covers MOONSTONE PROPHECY only.

In the aftermath of a total lunar eclipse, wherein the alignment of the planets opened a portal to the otherworld releasing all mythical beings, the small Virginia town of Saint’s Grove will be host to an epic battle of good versus evil.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tirvu and Eric), using present day and memories from the past MOONSTONE PROPHECY follows Eric as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. For months Eric has suffered with debilitating nightmares that have left our hero a shell of his former self. Fired from his job, Eric is ‘drawn’ to Saint’s Grove, Virginia where he will meet his future (and his past) with the arrival of a woman who has starred in all of his dreams. Enter Tirvu, a female dragon shifter, who claims Eric is the man that she loves-a man who disappeared three hundred years earlier in his search for the coveted Moonstone –a religious symbol from the world of the dragons. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Eric and Tirvu as they go in search of a relic Tirvu believes will unite the dark and light, and the potential fallout as our couple is targeted by more than one supernatural power. A paranormal story line where racism meets specieism in a world at war, the Moonstone Prophecy is said to unite what was once pulled apart.

Carly Fall blends the past with the present; the supernatural with the mundane; the paranormal with small-town America, as her hero fights to save a world he knows nothing about. Tirvu is one of many supernatural beasts whose arrival has been timed with the alignment of the planets as she goes in search of the man that she loves. The premise is a flight into the fantastic; the characters are colorful, diverse and brave; the romance is a second chance fated by the planets and the stars. MOONSTONE PROPHECY is a captivating look at a love that has stood the test of time.

I purchased this because I like Jennifer Eaton’s FIRE IN THE WOODS series and I LOVE dragons. I quickly scrolled to Eaton’s contribution to this set, DRAGONMOUNT, and got reading. After a somewhat slow first chapter, I was hooked. This is a five-star story, and more than compensated me for the 99 cents I spent for the collection.
This could be considered a young adult story, but I think it falls more into a new adult category. There is a romantic element but it was more about the personal struggles of Joe and Anna. Sure, they aren’t problems we face in our non-dragon world, but the motivations and emotions behind them drew me in and had me rooting for this young dragon. The hopes of the species rested between his wings.
My favorite part of this story was the seamless way the Maori culture fit into the plot. It made me want to visit New Zealand so I could see the dragonmount for myself. (And meet that charming Connor, of course.)
Since I’m not much of a mermaid fan, I skimmed through the table of contents. After you click on the title page of a story, you’ll find a blurb before the first chapter. Everything about a dragon, I started to read.
These are the other stories I finished:

SPARK by Natasha S. Brown
This is a historical fantasy and I really enjoyed it. It uses one of my favorite tropes: helping the bereft traveler. Emich has a family secret but he can’t let Morgen and her father starve to death. Morgen is outspoken and asks too many questions.
But he’s a blacksmith and that’s the trade she always wanted to learn. An interesting story with unexpected twists follows.
Five stars to this one, too.

SLAYER IN LACE by DD Miers & Jessica Soucy
This is a Victorian-era romantic suspense story. I liked the community of dragonbourne and slayers, and especially the twist about the true history of the factions. It’s uses the trope of forbidden love but that’s not a distraction from the story problem.
This was a prequel to a series, and for that reason its ending is truly the beginning of the real story. I can’t rate the story too poorly though because there was a story problem that was resolved. However, the romance issues were just beginning and other romance readers might be a little miffed not to get more closure on that. Well, unless they read the series (which is likely the intent behind this story).
I enjoyed the writing and characters here, so I still give it four stars.

If you like paranormal romance, this is a collection for you. If you like dragon tales, the two I read here were memorable.

I thought the book included some very good books and some books that didn't capture my attention. I really loved Abby Knorr's books!

About half of the books indicated sequences, but only a few had functional maillist links. Where I was interested and the mail link worked, I signed up. Unfortunately, quite few of the books didn't provide mail list links at all. A lost marketing possibility.

One of the books totally "p*ss*d me off as the number of errors broke all records!!!

Shame on the editors!

As a result and also because some of the books failed to capture my attention, I rated the collection a ****.

Suggest to add the possibility to rate each book individually in the future!

I liked several of these stories BUT!

First of all I enjoy Kristen McMichael's story as it filled in some background in her series very well. A number of the stories U skipped because they were just too tacky. The instant foul language comes into the story it's no longer interesting to me. Apart from that what is with all the smashing of lips together passing for a kiss? Sounds more like the characters have a complete lack of finesse in the romance department. Still U did like A. L. Maker's story and Natasha Brown. I will look for more from them.

I read Serial Killer Princess by RJ Blain, who I love because she's very funny. This one is about a half-mermaid/half-gorgon heir to the undersea world, only she doesn't have gills and can't really swim, so her mom keeps conquering islands for her. She meets her dad in this book, and likes his bodyguard because he cooked her bacon. Literally. The bodyguard is some mystery kind of were. The heiress's hobby is serial killing serial killers - she looks for patterns and unsolved crimes and takes them out.

This is a review of Kyoko M's Of Blood and Ashes from the set.

It is a great story and is one that will hold your attention from beginning to end. It is exciting and I really liked the twists that kept me guessing. I won't reveal any as I don't like to ruin surprises for other readers. I definitely recommend you check it out.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Mix up

The good, the bad, and the ugly. The stories range from awesome to not my cup of tea. Most were complete first stories in a series. Occasionally some were the second in a series. I must warn you that some are cliffhangers. If you like your paranormal stories with scales you may like this group.
