Prima Games is the largest publishing company of video game strategy guides in the United States based in Roseville, California. Formerly, Prima was an imprint of Dorling Kindersley, a division of Penguin Random House, and produced print strategy guides, featuring in-depth walkthroughs for completing games, with other information such as character sheets and move chart.
Prima was acquired by Asteri Holdings in March 2019, which will transition the business to provide strategy guides in online form only alongside other gaming news.
Growing up in the early 1980s, I lived for my Atari and its games. 40 years later despite the enhancements of gaming technology, I still think Atari games are the best! Of course with modern technology, Atari "flashback" retro game sets contain 50 or more old time Atari games within their consoles--no need for the old bulky "cartridges!" This book has a section on about 65 Atari game catridges included in one of the "retro" consoles. Each game gets a in-depth description, strategy, and full color photos. So many memories came back as I read each game's section! This is not a full history of each Atari game, just the 60 or so included in this "flashback" console. But any lover of Atari will love this book for the memories it brings back, as well as a refresher on how to play the games if you acquire this console or any of the other similar ones today. I was sorry to see this book end and it's made me interested in finding both another Flashback console as well as more books on this history of Atari!
