Action packed from start to finish. So good.

The Fourth Gunman is an awesome new installment in the series about Jack, ex-cop and PI. Still a badass even though it’s been several years since we were together personally. He’s still able to have me at the edge of my seat with his crazy cases and the ability to have friends in high, and a few low places, that can help him out in a pinch.

I love Jack. His smart wit, street sense, sex appeal, and dry hu

Sometimes it isn’t what you know, but who you know and Jack Bertolino seems to have a handle on who to know when he needs help on a case involving an undercover agent who has gone missing.
Jake was working on a mafia owned gambling ship, there one minute, gone the next. No trace, but plenty of suspicions. Had he double-crossed the big guy and run off with a large chunk of cash? Had he been discovered and eliminated?

Follow Jack through the twists and turns of investigating, attraction to a young

In The Fourth Gunman, the fourth book in the Jack Bertolino Series, the reader is transported back into the seedy underworld of crime as they follow private investigator Jack Bertolino on his latest investigative adventure.

Author John Lansing weaves a fast-paced crime thriller set in Los Angeles and written in the third person narrative, that follows the dangerous quest of retired NYPD narcotics detective now private investigator Jack Bertolino as he takes on the investigation of a m

I loved this book. What an intense ride. So well paced and plotted, with twists and turns along the way. This is one of those books that I want to see made into a movie or a mini series on TV. It was that good. It was so well fleshed out that when I was reading it was as if I watching a movie playing in my mind. The Fourth Gunman is a FANTASTIC read and one I highly recommend.

Loved The Fourth Gunman

I have read all of John Lansing's books. I have loved everyone of them. This new book is full of action and intrigue. The characters are all interesting and engaging. I can always picture his novels being turned into a movie because of all the action, car chases, helicopter stunts, romance and adventure. If you love great stories, fascinating characters, and nonstop action, you will love this book.

John Lansing is a fantastic writer. I was thoroughly caught in the web of intrigue from page one.
This guy knows how to hold the tension and suspense and I can't wait for the next Jack Bertolini installment. Five stars!

John Lansing's multi-dimensional detective, Jack Bertolino, faces his most complex mystery and elusive criminals yet - and it's all set in a unique world that includes gambling, marinas, organized crime vs. federal authorities, and a nefarious plot that is planned and played out because of personal vengeances. Those personal vengeance elements bring the criminals' lives into deeper focus and makes them doubly troubling and thought-provoking. I love dipping into Bertolino's world and Lansing, in ...more

Jack Bertolino is no stranger to the FBI, nor is he in their employ, except when it suits them. When an Luke, an agent undercover, goes missing, his sister calls on Jack to find her brother. Jack calls in a favor from the Mafia Don, with assurances that he won't report back to the FBI on any of the mob business, only what happened to Luke. Needless to say there are a few shady characters who aren't thrilled with all the questions Jack and his two sidekicks. With questionable friends and enemies ...more

My Favorite Summer Beach Read!

This is the fourth book in the Jack Bertolino series and I have waited a little while to write this review, mainly because after I read it, I immediately wanted to reread the whole series again. It feels just like watching the latest movie in a series and wanting to bing watch the series. So, I ended up binge reading the series again in this record breaking heat and it really is my favorite read on the beach, fast paced, full of action, much like the Mission Imp

John Lansing never disappoints! This time he kept me turning pages with a thrilling yet sobering (and all too realistic) tale of a terrorist plot which Jack Bertolino has to unravel as he deals with both the law and the criminal world, both professionally and personally, all while the terrifying clock is ticking. What's intriguing about Lansing's books are the layers; the characters are complex and realistic so it's always a surprise to see where everything eventually leads, and it's always extr ...more

I think The Fourth Gunman was a fast paced, wonderfully written book. John Lansing hit the ball out of the park on this one! I found the series by John Lansing right after The Devil's Necktie came out and I'm so glad I did. Each book gets better and better! I love the Jack Bertolino character, he grows stronger and more appealing with each book. Now I have to wait again for his 5th book☹

This book brings to mind a lot of questions. Who was the fourth gunman? Where is he? Who is he working for – the good guys, the bad guys or the really, really bad guys?

That’s the challenge for Jack Bertolino. By the way, who’s he working for?

I was getting an adrenaline rush from this book, and didn’t want to put it down. When it ended, I didn’t want it to end. This was my first John Lansing book. It won’t be my last, because I want to read more about Mr. Bertolino. I know

When undercover FBI agent Luke Hunter goes missing off an illegal gambling boat during an assignment, the FBI calls in retired inspector Jack Bertolino. With his connections and skills, he’s the only man for the job. This is the fourth book in the series, and it ought to come with a warning. Strap yourself in and get set for a well-told, no-holds-barred crime story. It’s that good.

I came in late on the Jack Bertolino series, but I’m here now. Better late than never! I wouldn’t want to go on my literary way without these novels on my bookshelf. I won’t reveal too much about the series, but I will say John Lansing knows his stuff when he writes about Los Angeles and its criminal stains. Bertolino is back in rare form in The Fourth Gunman too, the fourth in the series, which has the same high octane thrills as the first three. Someone please put Bertolino on the screen!

“The clock is ticking.” IMO, those words describe what type of read this was!

This is the 4th book in the series but easily read as a stand alone. I have read 2 of the previous novels, BLOND CARGO and DEAD IS DEAD, which were exceptional.

Jack Bertolino is back and taking the reader on another heart pounding, dangerous journey!

John Lansing has a way with the written word that is fluid and detailed so that the reader can create vivid imagery. For me, it was like
