I couldn’t help but be in Serena’s corner, cheering her on! Tiara Giles writes a great entertaining story with drama and a sweet love story in Longing for the Impossible. I can’t wait to read more from her.

This is such an amazing young adult story. I laughed and cried and wanted to hurt someone while reading this book.
Our heroine has a mother from hell. She is controlling, manipulative and verbally abusive towards her. I've never had a character as much as I do this mother. I wanted to scoop on the heroine and hide her and protect her and just shed love for her because she deserved it so much.

This is a coming of age story, between a young girl growing up and the relationship she has wit

This story is filled with such a roller coaster ride of emotions for a YA book. My heart was with Serena from the very beginning especially being able to relate to dealing with verbal abuse from a family member. Brandon, her best friends brother and neighbor growing up moves back and their friendship slowly builds back up. To see Serena try and live her life and be her own woman is a slow process but such a beautiful transformation. Such a beautifully written story that left me with my hand on m ...more

I really enjoyed this story. Its quick, easy to follow, and has the perfect balance of drama and fluff. I loved Brandon. He had such great insight and was so perceptive as a character.

Most of all loved the simplicity of the writing. It reads like the characters are teenagers but doesn’t hit you over the head with obnoxious John Green type of prose.

The people who enjoy Sarah Dessen and Judy Blume will enjoy this story. Fingers crossed that the author breaks through and succeeds in the contempora

Serena is a gifted student who has two best girlfriends who will do anything for her and a miserable shrew for a mother who doesn’t deserve the title. She yells at Serena all of the time, treats her like a servant and has made her a prisoner in her own home. Being a senior in high school should be fun because graduation is imminent and college is right around the corner. Instead, Serena was forced to quit cheerleading and can only sit in the stands during the basketball games. Her crazy mother w ...more

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

This was a first read by this author for me. I wanted to like it but it just didnt work. At all. Everything was frustrating and hard to read. I actually stopped reading it and had to go back to it 3 times. And the fruit of the success of this couple didnt occur until the LAST chapter! Ugghhh! I will say that it had potential but it fell so FLAT that i cannot recommend it. It was boring and didnt cut it. I hate giving bad reviews but thi

I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Gosh, her mother, was terrible. Terrible doesn't even cover that piece of work. I don't know why Serena didn't stand up to her more. I mean, it was so abusive, she was a horrible human being. The author definitely nailed it and wrote the mother character to be hated by her readers. I feel like her friends and him could've done more to help Serena possibly get out of the situation. Brandon's character was good. He really is a sweet guy and always wanted ...more

This is a non bias review for an ARC.
I had a hard time reading this book. This story is filled with so much emotional abuse, I don't know how Serena or Trinity stayed nice. Does society not teach children and their friends if you see something say something? Serena is so afraid of her mother you could feel the anxiety coming off her in droves. Sometimes the anticipation of the abuse is worse than the actual abuse. Trinity's mother isn't much better. At with Trinity's mother there wasn't anticipa

This author knows how to evoke emotions. She is really good a describing the fear and anxiety of the characters and you end up feeling it with them. Even I’m scared of Serena’s mother! I like that though both main characters seem more mature than their peers; they still make you believe that they are at that age, rather than seeming too old. The story is well developed and doesn’t leave you with questions. It flows and you end up cheering for the characters along the way. It is interesting and r ...more

I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was the right amount of drama mixed in with a cute love story.
My heart bled for Serena as she has the mom from hell and she just wants to be a normal teenage girl. It was lovely to say the way she comes into herself eventually. I won’t tell you everything and spoil it but you’ll love it!
Brandon is such an amazing male lead, he really is the kind of man you could love forever. No, he is not perfect but it’s the right balance of chara

We meet Serena a school student doing well at academics but abused at home by her mother. Brandon returned to school and his mother’s home to be with his twin and finish school under a cloud of mystery.
Serena and Brandon circle each other as their schooling ends a college begins. Serena is not allowed to date or even have friends out of school hours and at college has to find herself. This is a clean sort of romance with hea. At times it se

4 STARS= Very Good= Enjoyable= I liked it very much...!

Longing for the Impossible was a well-written and fast-paced story, with likeable and well-developed main characters. The author did an awesome job of depicting emotions, especially Serena's anxiety and fear of her mother. It was great seeing Serena overcome her obstacles and morph into an independent and confident young woman. Brandon was patient and caring, and a wonderful love-interest for Serena. The romance between them felt real and sw

My first book by this author and I must say that I haven't been able to create a final opinion with this book. The story is not bad and it's pretty interesting, but for me this story was a little bit to streched, i would like more events.

Serena and Brandon did not see each other for two years. At one time they were best friends, but two years can change people, especially if they didn't talk or see each other during this time.

A lovely, quick read. I hated Serena's mother and wanted to off her repeatedly. The main event that everyone keeps waiting for to take place, takes forever to build up to and it happens out of nowhere. A bit rushed in fact. All in all I really did enjoy this book.
