You are my greatest adventure, Jenson King.

This was a sweet read. I absolutely loved Jenson’s tortured character. I just wanted to give him a bear hug. Lindsey was very 'meh' for me. I had a hard time connecting with her, and found myself disagreeing with many of her decisions. This book took me way longer than normal to finish, and I'm just going to chalk it up to so much angst that it wouldn't keep my attention.

Now that I know that Smoke and Lyrics is the third book in a series o

5 They're Magic Together Stars!!!

This is my first book by Ms. Hall and I'm so glad I took the chance on this book as it's a fabulous introduction to an author that is able to write a story that is both heartfelt and heartbreaking. I say heartbreaking because the pain the Jensen King is feeling in his heart is so palpable it reached out to me through my kindle and grabbed my heart.

He's a man that has actually achieved everything he's dreamed of in the music world but has so many demons and pa

I requested an ARC of this book mainly because of the cover. It drew me in and had me wanting to know what was inside. I was absolutely not disappointed with this book! Jensen King is a struggling musician, but not because he's trying to make it...but because he has and the lifestyle has taken a toll on him. He has demons he's trying to get under control. Then you have Lindsey. She has so much passion and character, but she's also afraid to simply let go and live. The two of them together are a ...more

This was my first book by Holly Hall and I was pleasantly surprised!

Jenson is what I like to call a reluctant country star. His band is his family and music is his first love but the fame, the living under a microscope.....that part he can live without. Jenson is full of self doubt and ghost from his past and his career and recent divorce are not helping matters. He's fighting a battle and losing.

Lindsey is head strong, independent, career driven, smart and kind. I liked her immediately. She has

Hot, broken country music star? Check.

Independent, sexy heroine following her dreams? Check.

Let me tell you, Holly’s writing is smooth as butta. This chick can come up with 20 ways to say something. She makes me hate my own writing.

But back to the book...

Jenson King is a star. The kind of star who could have his pick of women. He’s also the kind of star whose past keeps him tethered right where he is - in limbo. He’s a mess. Really. He’s lost his house, his wife, his baby. He’s as broken as a

This is my first read by Holly and I can’t even find the right words for it. This book was so motivating and deep, I can’t even come up with the right way to describe it. The characters were flawed and they didn’t have the easiest journeys, which is something I loved. Lindsey’s character, as well as Jensen’s was really well developed and flawlessly written. The ending couldn’t have been more perfect and I am so happy that these characters got what they deserved. This story will make you really t ...more

This was my first book by Holly Hall but definitely not my last! Her writing is incredible! I was sucked into the story immediately! I do have one complaint tho and its the reason that im not rating this a 5 star.... Its slow. Ive seen people call this a slow burn romance which im a fan of, but I feel like this book was more slow paced then it was a slow burn. Theres a huge difference! With that being said, I still ate this story up! Im so thankful I found this author cause im excited to read mo ...more

I didn't know what to expect going into this book. I was following the author for a while on Instagram when I saw the blogger sign up and I jumped right in! Once I picked it up, I couldn't stop. Jenson became my life, literally. I freaking loved him.

The story consists of such a commonly known plot, but the author made it into something totally new and refreshing. I loved the writing. It was so captivating and sucked me right in. It had the perfect blend of everything. It had raw emotions but at

This was my first book to read by Holly Hall and wow! This girl can write! I mean she really knows how to pull at those heart strings. I think she created a great story with characters you wanted to hate in certain moments yet loved far too much to ever hate them. The story was tragic and beautiful with a happy ending that made you feel fulfilled instead of needing more closure.

She wasn't afraid to take a chance and deal with alcoholism in this book either. I admire that. Alcoholism has plagued

Smoke and Lyrics by Holly Hall a sublime five-star read. This was my first read by this author but I promise you it will not be the last, it blew me away. The passion the characters showed were so real and palpable that you could feel it in the words as they flowed onto the page. If you don’t feel emotionally wrung out when you finished this book, go back and read it again you missed something. Jensen and Lindsay's love story is so unique.
Both are from distant spectrums. He is a rock star who has had everything crumble around him, trying to get himself in the right way again when he stumbles into this young no-nonsense woman.
Lindsay is a new comer into Nashville trying to make her way with her photography. Meeting Jensen was not her want at the moment but when that moment comes and even though you try to fight it. It is and was meant to be.
Both Jensen and Lindsay try to fend of those f

This was my first Holly Hall book and I have to say, I can't wait to read another. I loved Jenson and Lindsey. The story took us on a broken musician's journey to find himself. Jenson was in desperate need of being saved and in order to save himself, he needed a little help from a friend. Lindsey was the perfect antidote to Jenson's pain. I really just loved their connection.

"You are my greatest adventure, Jenson King"

Smoke & Lyrics is a story about romance, mistakes, and conquering. Jenson King is a famous musician who can't catch a break. He's lost his unborn child, his home, and is now recently divorced. He is throwing away his music career for the whiskey because he doesn't feel the drive anymore. Jenson is such a multi-dimensional character. I was worried when reading that his drinking was going to make the story rough but it actually played a whole differe

This is my second emotional book for the day and all I can say is wow. I am in total awe of this author. I have never read a book from this author and all I can say is how? How could I have missed an author that puts so much emotion in a story that you connect to, whether you love this genre or not it makes you stop and think how much people actually go through in life. This book puts in perspective that second chances is sometimes all someone needs to be put on the the path they should h

Going into Smoke & Lyrics I hadn't ever read anything by the author before and I was only going off the synopsis. And let me tell you this book definitely didn't let me down. Holly! I loved this book!
Do you hear me? I LOVED IT!

Jenson King is a man with vices. Makers, cigarettes, woman, music, whatever you give the poor broken soul, he’ll take it. He lives for his vices. Mainly his music.

His life as a country music superstar isn’t working for him anymore. So he sets out on a path of destruction. (One we hear about in this book.) After losing a baby, he sets his house on fire, leading to his wife Raven to finally divorce him. Raven knee deep down Jenson didn’t love

What a super, heart felt, emotional tale that made me have all the feels! This was about more than just a complex couple finding romance. Calling it a romance would diminish what it actually is, which is more like the journey of two people finding themselves and each other through falling in love. To me it was more than a love story, not that their love story wasn't great, it was, but it was also MORE, it was a tale of self discovery, of figuring out how to love yourself, forgiving your flaws, y ...more

Heartbreakingly beautiful, Smoke and Lyrics is the kind of book that pulls out all of your emotions and keeps you riveted to every page. This isn’t a sweet and easy love story. Smoke and Lyrics is raw, real, and beautiful. Filled with passion, angst, and real love it completely takes over and pulls you into a world of self discovery, healing, and love. This is the story of Jenson and Lindsey! We first met Jenson in "Love In Smoke" he was the alcoholic ex husband / famous rockstar/ walking disaster and I could not wait to get his full story of this complex yet deep man.
Holly Hall has written him with such honesty, and such rawness and so poetically, there are no excuses for his behavior and he needs to decide to be a better man all on his own!

I loved the pace of this book. I got to fall in love with each character because I got to know who they were as a human.

Gah! Jenson! I felt for him in the last book and I'm so glad he got a story of his own. Everyone deserves a second chance. Even with his struggles, you saw the man he wanted to be. Who he was away from the lime light showed that.

I loved the friendship that happened between him and Lindsey. It felt effortless and real (minus the whole rock star thing lol).

Watching someone you care about deeply try to throw away everything they have worked toward their entire lives must be incredibly frustrating. When Lindsey Farrar walks into a bar on her way to work, she never thought she would meet famous country star Jenson King. Jenson, who just got out of rehab, is trying to drown his memories in a bottle but is failing miserably. Ready to walk away from his life, Lindsey makes him begin to feel again, begin to compose music again. But will that be enough fo ...more

Hard for me to connect

This is my first book by author Holly Hall. Although I think it was well written, I honestly had a hard time getting through it. I just couldn't connect to the heroine, Lindsey. I don't want to give any spoilers, but the heroine had several occasions where she was confronted by friends or family about her issues. And while she seemed in those moments to have a "light bulb moment", we don't see any real change or action until the very end of the book. I LOVE a good character
