Despite her best efforts to go through the motions and the good fortune to have a husband stationed stateside rather than in the midst of the brutal combat unfolding in Europe and the Pacific, Christmas Eve is a less than festive time for innkeeper Naomi Lockhart. It’s been especially hard since she, her husband, Quenton, and their daughters restored her parents’ Colorado

Buy this one for someone for Christmas! I did, but I read it myself first to decide who to give it to. I should have bought one for everyone. I read it in one day - obviously could not put it down. I was uncertain how to tag it, but they all apply. It takes place during World War II and one of the characters is a soldier. The story goes back and forth between several characters and they so beautifully come to life. I sincerely CARED about each and every one of them.

After Gracie finds out she's adopted, she starts searching for her biological parents while her husband fights in WWII. Her search comes to an halt when she's snowed in at her neighbor's inn on Christmas Eve, with a baby on the way no less. Meanwhile, Naomi, the inn keeper, is trying to enjoy the holiday although reminiscing the events of her firstborn daughter's kidnapping.

Reunion stories are heartwarming at any time of the year, but a Christmas reunion story? For some reason that adds a whole extra layer of warmth, and there’s more than one reunion to be had here.
This story essentially takes place over the course of one day—Christmas Eve—but through flashbacks and memories we experience a number of important times in these characters’ lives: the devastating loss of a child, a war-time romance, a young woman suddenly learning she’s not who she thought she was, a ...more

The Gift of the Inn (2017) by Golden Keyes Parsons is a fantastic stand-alone novel. This story is available in all forms including eBook, and is 355 pages in length. With a full-time job and a very busy five-year old, this book took me four days to read. I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from White Fire Publishing. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give this book 5 STARS. This story is a Christian Historical Christmas

It's Christmas Eve 1944. Naomi is struggling with depression as a heavy snowstorm hits at the Inn she and her husband Quenton have taken over from her parents in Colorado. Christmas has been hard for her for the last 17 years but this year is so much like the one when her infant daughter disappeared from their bedroom while they were downstairs celebrating Christmas with her parents and their guests. No trace of her daughter could be found. The flashbacks are so real this night as she longs to k

Oh, Goodness! When I asked the publisher if I couldreview this one, I wasn't expecting one that would tug at my heart before I even began reading it! This is a Christmas story--but there's a story behind the story. You see, the author (Golden Keyes Parsons) was killed in a car wreck in February, just as this book was in the editing process. Thanks to her family and a caring publisher (Whitefire), the book was still completed and published. As if the book itself didn't inspire a grab for the tiss

Innkeeper Naomi Lockhart should be happy on Christmas Eve of 1944. She has a batch of healthy daughters and a military husband who’s stationed at home instead of overseas, in the midst of a world war. But Naomi has never gotten over the past Christmas Eve disappearance of her infant child, and this holiday could make or break Naomi in The Gift of the Inn, a novel by author Golden Keyes Parsons.

This is one family’s journey of being torn apart in the beginning and brought together at the end. What happens in-between sets the stage for this heart wrenching story over-laced with hope and love.
Set in WW2, we see varying perspectives from the characters and flashbacks of the past. Each one adds a different layer, which in turn builds the story and gives up glimpses into each person’s lives. I really liked how this was written and it made me anticipate how things would eventually turn out. ...more

A powerful story of loss and hope. Set during WWII.
One families tragedy on Christmas Eve determines how the future affects the family.
Gracie met the man of her life, Jack. Determined to be with together before he ships out. Love conquers.
This story is very well written. The story had many layers with characters and places. Restoration of lost family. The book had me riveted to the very end.

I was sad to learn about this author's passing and that 'The Gift of the Inn' is her final book. But oh, what a beautiful book it is. I was pulled into the character's lives and held captive until the very end. I read it as fast as I could and kept thinking about it when I'd have to set it aside to do other things. There was a feeling of haunting sadness at the beginning, but it was lovely to watch the mood shift as the novel progressed. There's a bit of a mystery that's slowly revealed througho

A beautifully written story of love and loss, set during WWII. As Naomi tries to move past the pain of a Christmas Eve in the past, she must focus on her family and the guests staying at her family owned Inn during the Christmas season that is upon her.
This is a book about getting through past pains and hurtful situations, not just for Naomi and her family, but also for Gracie and her family. It's also about new beginnings and finding joy year round. I loved how well crafted the characters are a ...more

A heart warming Christmas Story. The Story starts Christmas Eve I944 and finishes on Christmas Day. Three individuals Gracie, Naomi, and Jack are all looking to be reconciled with loved ones. Each story is told and intertwined. Naomi looking for a lost child, Jack wanting to be home with his family, and Gracie trying to find out who she is.

It took me a couple of chapters to really get into this book but once I was in, I was in. So many layers and so much going on. It was mysterious, yet hopeful. Full of love and family.
The connections being made between the characters was moving. There are many different points of view to see the story from, but it added more depth and perspective to the story that you otherwise couldn’t have gotten.

Beautiful epitaph
I had the pleasure of knowing Golden Keyes Parsons. She was a gift herself. In this last novel of hers, she's done her craft and her Lord proud. This is a sweet story with an intriguing plotline. Following Gracie through the challenges she faces while discovering who she really is and Naomi's trial of waiting on God and finding that He wasn't as far away as she thought He was a complete joy. This WWII era love story will keep you up late--so grab a cup of cocoa and a cozy blanke ...more

This was a wonderful story of Christmas miracles and the meaning of Christmas. I loved how the author alternated between the stories of the different characters and then wove them together at the end. I really liked everything about the book. The premise, the characters, and the way the story was told. There is so much more I could say but I hate to give anything away. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good Christmas story.
