Sometimes to take back your life you need rid yourself of the demons of the past and that is exactly what Phoenix did when she left her old life behind to take a job at a charming lakeside resort. Maybe it was the sunshine, the quirky new friends she was making, or maybe it was her new boss, but one thing for sure, Phoenix’s heart and soul came alive again as she found a second chance for lasting love and a new lease on life.

Meanwhile, Phoenix’s brash and beautiful sister, Ridley decides it’s time to check up on her sister, not knowing that she would chase away her own demons in the arms of a scuba instructor who is hot enough to make the water he swims in boil!

COOPER’S CHARM by Lori Foster lets you know, it’s summertime and the reading is going to be fun, light and easy! Not too heavy, this quick read is a feel-good tale of romance, second chances at life, love and trust. Sweet, cute, filled with humor and heat, let the sunshine in on contemporary summer reading!

He'd started by wanting to help her, and instead, she'd helped him without even knowing it. She'd brought him back from the dead.

If you're looking for a charming, feel-good romance and quintessential beach read, Cooper's Charm is a definite winner. You get two romances for the price of one here; with both Rose sisters finding their individual roads to a HEA.

Phoenix Rose has come to Cooper's Charm a shell of a woman she once was. After an armed robbery and assault leaves her a shattered, she comes to this charming little lakeside resort to find herself again. The last thing she expects is to find herself falling for the resort's broody owner. Cooper is reeling from a loss of his own. But the more he gets to know Phoenix, the more he realizes that he didn't lose his heart.

Following her sister to make sure she's ok, Ridley is dealing with issues of her own. After a bitter divorce leaves her cynical but filthy rich, she's not looking to find a meaningful relationship, but she's not opposed to some hot sex. Little does she know that she'll find something much more with the local sexy Scuba Instructor.

The two relationships develop in interchanging POVs; you get Phoenix, Cooper, Ridley, and Baxter. There's also a small suspense subplot that's added in. This was a sweet contemporary romance that could have held quite strongly on its own. I really didn't feel the suspense piece add much to the story, at least not for me. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the book, because I definitely did. It was a cute and steamy read that delivered on two highly satisfying HEAs. If you're looking for a light-hearted and sweet romance that's low on angst but with plenty of charm, you can't go wrong with this one.

AUDIOBOOK

I enjoyed listening to this book. Phoenix was running from a horrible past and Cooper was stuck in his horrible past. Together, they were able to help each other to move forward in life.

There was a bit of danger and suspense…a small bit. I was hoping for more. There is a cute dog and a fun loving community.

We also had the side story of Phoenix’s sister. I wish that Lori Foster would have written another book with this story instead of cramming it into this one.

Humorous, sweet, and heartwarming!

Cooper’s Charm is a heartfelt, entertaining tale about accepting the things you cannot change, letting go of the past, rediscovering one’s self, taking chances, moving on, and the special, selfless bonds between sisters.

The prose is clear and smooth. The characters are hardworking, charismatic, and dependable. The setting is an idyllic summer retreat, complete with cabins, tents, sun, and sand. And the plot, which drags just slightly in the middle, is an engaging tale with a dash of mystery that’s full of friendship, family, light drama, witty banter, shameless flirting, sexy innuendoes, smoking chemistry, and new beginnings.

Cooper’s Charm, overall, is a charming, uplifting, funny start to the Love at the Resort series by Foster that has a unique, quirky cast of characters, including the adorable beagle, Sugar that I can’t wait to read more about.

Thank you to Harlequin Books for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Pheonix rose hopes to take a job at a lakeside resort in order to get a fresh start and move on from her past. Before the burglary happened, Pheonix had everything, a great job, a fiance, and overall a happy existence. There she meets Cooper, the owner of the resort and who is just as broken after his wife dies in a tragic accident.

I thought the story was cute for the most part. I really loved Pheonix and Cooper, though I struggled with the attraction at first due to the reasons that Cooper felt the attraction and why he hired her. It felt like he was compensating for his past. I love Sugar the dog, she bought some heart into the story. Many of the secondary characters really made Cooper's Charm and I couldn't help but feel invested in most of them, especially Maris. I am really looking forward to her book and her attraction to one of the staff members.

The part that really broke this book for me was the unnecessary Ridley storyline. I ended up downright hating her character. She was so unrefined, shallow and undeveloped. I get that she had a "rough" break with her ex-husband, but in the end, somehow ended up super rich. She then buys a trailer to seduce Baxter one of the staff members, just for that reason alone to taunt him. The part that sealed the deal for me with her was the author's use of the world snarled towards the end of the book when Ridley continued to interact with Baxter, specifically when she drops some unexpected news and misunderstands his silence for the worse. I really did not care for her character, she was unnecessary to the story and I could have done without her.

Also was the brief suspense that was added to the last 5% of the book. I thought that was unrealistic and again, unnecessary.

There was something sweet and satisfying about Lori Foster’s latest release Coopers Charm and that made it very easy to read and immensely enjoyable.

Sometimes I read a book and it is easier for me to list all the things I love about the book rather than write a detailed review and that is what I’m going to do with this book. I loved that both the main characters had lived through something difficult and it made them wary, yet they were both open to exploring the intense attraction between them. I loved the quirky secondary characters that added a lot of life and fun to this story. I loved the setting of a summer retreat campground and cabins around a lake where people flocked to enjoy a peaceful vacation. I loved the adult relationship between the main characters, they communicated well and despite they both had some baggage they didn’t drag a lot of drama into their relationship. The one thing I didn’t love about this book was the suspense element that seemed contrived and didn’t really add to the book, just some unnecessary drama this book didn’t need.

The heroine Phoenix Rose was smart, strong, and determined to reclaim her life and independence and I enjoyed watching her make friends and blossom while working as the landscaper and groundskeeper at Coopers Charm. Copper Cochran the resort owner was one of those perfect heroes who knew when to back off and when to push and I admired that he gave Phoenix a place to get back in the work force while also keeping a very close eye on her for his peace of mind and her safety. The sexual tension between them was thick and watching them try and deny it was amusing.

Coopers Charm is a spectacular offering from author Lori Foster and is sure to be a hit with readers wanting something light, sexy, and fun this summer.

Welcome to Cooper's Charm RV Resort Park. Cooper Cochran, the owner, bought it after the tragic death of his wife, looking for a place to heal. He recognizes the need for a fresh start when Phoenix Rose comes to him for a job as the head grounds keeper. There is an instant connection between them, but their pasts make them both warry. Phoenix finds her fellow employees friendly and supportive, giving her the courage to face the terrors of her past. Phoenix is surprised by the arrival of her sister Ridley, but loves having her close. Ridley herself is still working past the hurt over her divorce, and finds satisfaction in taking the house cleaning position. Ridley also enjoys the distraction of the hunky scuba instructor, Baxter. Can these sisters find love and new beginnings at Cooper's Charm?
Sweet, sexy and fun, the characters will"charm" their way into your heart.

Phoenix Rose, a landscaper by trade is hoping to begin anew after an event upended her life. She packs up all of her belongings and travels to the picturesque, lakeside resort known as Cooper's Charm. She has applied for the groundkeepers position and is determined to nail the interview.

Cooper's Charm is a quaint family oriented campground offers all the amenities including a sweet loft cabin to call home.  Phoenix and Cooper's first encounter was interesting and gave the reader insight into both characters. I quickly found myself pulled into the story.

I liked Phoenix and connected with her. Readers will respect her strength, identify with her insecurities and fall for Cooper right along with her. Cooper, is the owner of Cooper's Charm, with a home on the lake overlooking the campground. Cooper bought the place after a tragedy changed his life, so he recognizes what Phoenix is going through. She hasn't told him, but he knows about her past, thanks to Google. Phoenix stirs something in him and the chemistry between them is sweet, entertaining and delightful to witness.

Foster's characters are well-developed and realistic. We get to meet lots of secondary characters at the resort and I am already itching for their stories. We are even treated to a secondary romance. Phoenix's older sister, Ridley Rose, shows up unexpectedly to check on her sister. When there is a housekeeping problem, Ridley steps in and decides this might be the perfect place to lick her wounds after a painful divorce. I loved the heated, magnetic, snarky romance that developed for Ridley. While Cooper and Phoenix's romance is sweet, slow-burning, and soothing, Ridley's is scorching. The banter was hilarious. Something is simmering between the maintenance guy and the store manager too, I cannot wait for their book. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

I loved this romance. It was sweet and funny and it had a dog!

A romance featuring two sisters (who each get their man without even trying) -- it takes place at a campground/resort. It was a lot of fun and their was a lot of humor. The main couple have better chemistry than the other couple, but still a lot of fun!

Phoenix (love the unique name) and Cooper’s romance was a wonderful mix of sensual and sweet! I enjoyed so much about them-their work ethics, dynamic personalities, and their shared love of animals, just to name a few. I also loved the delicious build up of sexual tension. Foster writes some of the best chemistry scenes between couples, so I knew the anticipation would be worthwhile. And when the fireworks finally erupted...yowza!

As a double bonus, we also get Phoenix’s sister’s romance. Riley is coming out of a failed marriage while Baxter, the resorts’ scuba dive instructor, is kind of a ladies man. I got a kick out of Riley’s sarcastic, sassy mouth and loved Baxter’s charismatic personality. The playful edge to their sexually charged banter was absolutely delightful, but the chemistry...think sizzling and electrifying!

The secondary characters are just as much fun! Cooper has collected a hodgepodge of employees who act like one big, crazy extended family. And who wouldn’t love that?! Their nosiness could be bothersome..and have the world’s worst timing when a certain someone was romancing his girl...however, to know there’s always someone there to help lend a hand or a shoulder for support said a lot about the group.

And I have to mention Sugar, Cooper and Phoenix’s unexpected furry bundle of chaotic fun! Dogs can say so much with their expressions and the descriptions of Sugar’s soulful brown eyes and head tilts conveyed a lot. Plus, she was just a super cute character!

Protective heroes, feisty heroines, one adorable puppy rescue, and a madcap group of charming secondary characters made Cooper’s Charm a delightfully warm-hearted read! Mild suspense and two great romances round things out in style. I have my fingers crossed in hope that there will be a few more stories to come from Cooper’s Charm RV Park and Resort.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I generally love Lori Foster. One of my favorite romance series is the Buckhorn Brothers Series. I started this book with very high expectations, maybe that was my problem. I had a tough time liking, let alone loving these characters. I generally love a good romance about overcoming the past to find the HEA, but I found manipulation, calculation, low grade angst. Every character was on the lookout and planning how to use another character to get what they wanted. Not in an evil way, but in an "I want what I want" way. We get two romances and I liked that aspect. The characters were all beautiful and wonderful people and they get their HEA, of course. You get a touch of mystery thrown in too, which I really liked.

Phoenix Rose was the victim of a robbery and beating that left her a shell of the successful, confident woman she was. After six months of, basically, hiding out, she is on a mission to reclaim life as she once knew it.

Cooper Cochran owns a lakeside resort, Cooper's Charm. His wife died five years ago and he has been struggling to put his life and emotions back together ever since. When he meets Phoenix, he knows his life is about to change.

While visiting Cooper’s Charm to see her little sister, Ridley Rose decides she likes what she sees, a beautiful resort and a super hot diving instructor, Baxter, and decides to stay. When her ex-husband dumped her, she left with several of his millions and a broken heart. She is all about keeping her heart safe, until she crosses paths with Baxter.

Phoenix and Ridley both came to Cooper’s Charm as a means to an end, but they both have found that the their journey just might end there.

Phoenix Rose and her sister Ridley have both had some tough knocks in life. Phoenix leaves her home and applies for a job at a local resort called Cooper's Charm. Delighted, she is hired and begins her healing. Of course, hunky Cooper Cochran will be integral to that healing process. Meanwhile Ridley, recently divorced, is handling her situation a bit differently. She is using her looks to love em and leave em. She misses her sister, so ends up at Cooper's Charm as well and smack into the arms of one of Cooper's employees.

This is a second chance romance story for more than just Cooper and Ridley. All the employees there have some sort of baggage to get over and this is a summer of love. There is an element of mystery to the story as well. It seems someone is targeting Phoenix for some reason and Cooper is worried about her safety. Will they find out who is stalking Phoenix? Will Phoenix be able to heal at Cooper's Charm? Will Ridley's dreams finally come true? I enjoyed the story with its sassy banter, loyalty to one another, family love and romance. A warning to reader's there are some descriptive sex scenes in the book, but you can skim them if you choose, and still very much enjoy this story. The publisher, HQN books generously granted my request to read this book and provided me with a copy. The opinions and ideas shared are my own.

The first book in the Summer Resort series by Lori Foster. Phoenix Rose is attempting to get her life back after a devastating robbery and assault. She ends up as the landscaper at a resort called Cooper's Charm. Cooper Cochran lost his beloved wife years before and has no intention of getting involved with anyone but there is something about Phoenix that has him thinking differently. Then Ridley, Phoenix's sister shows up to check on her and meets the scuba instructor, Baxter. Ridley went through a divorce and is bitter. But the divorce has made her rich and she can relax and do what she wants. But why does she want Baxter? Meanwhile, Phoenix and Coop rescue an adorable dog.

I loved that we got 2 romances for the price of one but I also felt the romances suffered just a tiny tad due to having to share the page time with two couples instead of one. Time could have been spent developing Ridley and Baxter a little more. We don't get much of their backstories. There is a bit of a mystery as to who is "stalking" Phoenix at the resort. But it was a fun and lovely read. I really liked it! Almost 5 stars but not quite.

COOPER’S CHARM is the first book in a new series by Lori Foster. I initially thought that this would be a Women’s Fiction novel, which is why I picked it up in the first place. But I’m quickly realizing a trend here with Romance authors. Even though the blurb sounds more like a Women’s Fiction novel, the contents inside will most likely be a straight up Romance.

I was a bit disappointed by this but because I enjoyed the couple, I could let it go. This book starts off really well. I enjoyed both the hero and the heroine’s personalities. I found Phoenix to be especially enjoyable and I really loved her strong bond with her sister, Ridley. I feel like with Romance novels, sibling relationships aren’t always emphasized so I really loved that Foster decided to make Ridley such an important character to Phoenix.

The book wanes in the middle and I think that’s because the author tried to introduce secondary characters into the mix all at once. I don’t mind building that sense of community but it did slow the book down considerably, especially as they have conversations about nothing. To me, it slowed down the book too much.

So, this book is a lot of fun, but just be aware that there are going to be slow point. I feel like they are things that you can get over and so, I’m looking forward to trying the next book in the series to see what Foster decides to do next!

It has been far too long since I've read a Lori Foster book. Cooper's Charm took me back to all of the reasons that I love her.

Phoenix was a victim of a robbery and assault. She was left afraid of really getting back into the world. After some time of seclusion she decided to ease herself back into the world and what better place to do it than a summer resort where she can use her skills as a landscaper to work but not be fully immersed in the public eye.

Cooper, Phoenix's new boss, knew of her past before he hired her but that wasn't the only reason he took her on. She had skills as a landscaper and the resort definitely needed her. He just didn't expect how quickly he would come to need her too.

We basically get 2 stories in one with Cooper's Charm. Not only do we get the sweet romance between Phoenix and Cooper, but we also get the hot and tempestuous one between Ridley, Phoenix's sister and Baxter the resort scuba instructor. Best of both worlds. I can't wait to read more into this series and get to know more of the characters that make up the staff of Cooper's Charm.

I’m a sucker for a damsel in distress story. Lori Foster’s Cooper’s Charm is exactly that but with a modern, capable damsel.

Phoenix Rose is the aptest of names for a woman trying to rebuild her life after a devastating robbery during which she was beaten badly. She welcomes a new job taking care of the landscaping at Cooper’s Charm. Cooper has a surprisingly similar reason for buying a resort which takes him far from his former life and the memories of the wife he lost too soon. Can Phoenix and Cooper forge a future? Are they ready? Capable even? I enjoyed watching these two getting to know each other and grow out of their trauma-induced shells. They’re both great people and deserve more than their self-imposed isolation.

I found Phoenix’s sister, Ridley, fun and feisty. She’s probably the richest maid ever but she’s enjoying spending time with her sister and the other employees. Her purely sexual relationship with the scuba instructor, Baxter, turns into so much more, of course.

As if they haven’t had enough of the worst life can hand them, Phoenix’s past soon comes to haunt her and, by extension, her new family at Cooper’s Charm. She finds she didn’t know the whole story of her beating/robbery. When her ex comes to make peace, she’s finally able to let go of the guilt she felt over removing herself from their relationship. There’s more to that part of the story than meets the eye too!

Foster gives us lots of scary and suspenseful moments and two touching and tender love stories in this well written expertly paced and complex book. I’ve been a Foster fan for a long time and this is just one more book with all the exceptional qualities that make her a best-seller.

In Cooper's Charm (Love at the Resort #1) by Lori Foster we are introduced to a variety of characters whom I hope to be able to follow for many books to come. Phoenix Rose had her world shattered by an unforgivable incident and when she finally decides to move on she takes a job at Cooper’s Charm, a lakeside resort. When Phoenix’s sister comes to visit she ends up extending her stay while she recovers from a horrible divorce.

What neither of them realize is that Cooper’s Charm is full of wonderful people – from Cooper (owner) to Baxter (scuba instructor) to Daron (the flirty and downright hysterical “knucklehead” of the group). All of them would do anything to protect their family – and that is what Phoenix and Ridley have become.

There is great banter between the sisters and an easy flow with all the interactions of the characters – Cooper’s Charm was a fun read and I can’t wait to see what comes next for the group.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

Phoenix needs to get away from her old life and has applied for a job at Cooper's Charm hoping it will be the fit she is looking for. You see while at work late one night she was attacked by two masked men and she hasn't been the same since. Realizing that she needs to make a change and needing to regain a semblance of who she was has her picking up and moving. When she arrives at her destination and meets her new boss she isn't sure if she'll be able to handle it or not, you see Coop is a very large and intimidating man. When Coop meets Phoenix he sees the hurt and lost soul that she is and wants to help her recover from her ordeal. The question is will she let him. Coop himself understands loss of self and the pain that comes with it because he is also dealing with a huge setback in his life. His wife, who was pregnant at the time, was killed and it has changed him in so many ways. Follow along as Phoenix and Coop dance around each other and the attraction they feel, will they both find they have been searching for. What an absolutely charming read this was, it took me on an emotional ride that I was happy to take. I laughed, I cried, and I feel in love with these wonderful characters.

Cooper's Charm is the first in a new contemporary romance series about a lakeside camping resort where anyone lucky enough can find a second chance. In this first one, Phoenix and her sister Ridley aren't looking for love, but they are looking for a place to start over and heal from their wounds. Cooper's Charm just might be the place to make it happen.

I loved this story. The characters were fun and likable. Cooper and Phoenix's relationship was so much fun to watch develop. It was a slow and super sweet. They were well matched and just what the other needed to move on. I loved Phoenix. She was a character I was rooting for to find her way back to her old self. They were my favorite of the two couples. I did like Ridley and Baxter together. However, I felt like they were a bit hot and cold for most of the story, so their love declarations were a bit unexpected for me.

Aside from the romances, Phoenix and Ridley's sisterly bond was a joy to experience. They had a fierce loyalty to one another. They also had really fun banter that made me laugh. The other characters in the story gave the resort a feeling of home. It sounds like a place I would want to visit. The story also includes a little mystery to satisfy those suspense lovers out there. I highly recommend this one! It comes out next week. It will make a great book to read over the summer. I can't wait to see whose story is next. Maris maybe?

I am a huge fan of Lori Foster but it has been a while since I have read a book by her. I devoured this book it felt like no time has passed since picking up my last Lori book.

She has a unique way of sucking you into the story and making it feel like it’s a movie being played out in front of your eyes.

This book had 2 love stories and who doesn’t love a 2 for 1 I sure don’t. Phoenix & Ridley are sisters who both have open wounds and Cooper’s Charm is the perfect place to heal.
Both were surprised at finding men who were made for them, but they all have to work through the past to be happy in the present.

I loved the narration, I think Erin does a fantastic job with all the characters I sometimes thought there was a male narrator how awesome was that!

Cooper's Charm is the first book from the Love at the Resort series. It is, also, my first introduction to Lori Foster's work. I loved the main characters of Phoenix and Cooper. My favorite character would have to be that crazy Daron. He is so very funny. They were all fun to get to know. The book is full of delightful romance.
I give Cooper's Charm four stars.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Lori Foster has done it again! Cooper's Charm has ever thing you could want in a good book-great characters, some drama, action, and of course some steamy scenes!

Cooper's Charm was a sweet, hot romance, in which two sisters needed some lovin' even if they were doing alright on their own.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews
Story:
I really enjoyed Phoenix and what Cooper's Charm managed to help her do to get her life back on track. However, the fact that Ridley, Phoenix's sister also got her story in the same book made me a little bit sad. I would have enjoyed for each sister to have her full story - not a two-for-one at the beginning of a series.

That being said, Cooper's Charm is a solid beginning, and I loved the setting, the lake, the RV park, the fact that Cooper did all his best to make sure his guests were happy.  I enjoyed how life was a little slower here, and the characters found the time to get to know each other. When the characters opened up, I got to know them better, too.

There was a mystery, and to me, it wasn't really necessary, and I guessed what was going on the first time something happened. I guess it made the plot move forward a little faster in places, but I think it could have been just as good without.
Characters:
Phoenix really needed a do-over. After being attacked at her workplace, she stayed hidden for six months, but now, she's ready to start living again, and Cooper's Charm is the perfect place to do so.

Ridley, Phoenix's overbearing older sister only wants the best. For her sister, and for herself. However, she's been through a pretty nasty divorce, and is all for no strings attached.

Cooper also has a lot of darkness in his past, and he definitely doesn't want a relationship. No way. Until he meets Phoenix and starts feeling again.

Braxton is the aloof diving instructor of the resort, and he's definitely a player. Or is he?

★★★½

In Lori Foster's Cooper's Charm, the first installment in the Love at the Resort Contemporary Romance series, this new series will charm you and make you find your second chance at love. For Phoenix Rose, she had suffered a horrible ordeal when she was robbed. That left her shattered and make her call off things with her fiancé David. Then she went to Cooper's Charm park in Ohio, when she needed to get away and start fresh in a new life. That's when she met Cooper Cochran, the owner of the park, and asked him for a job. Right away, she became the housekeeper to keep maintain the resort cabins. But there was a chemistry between her and her widowed boss, when they had gotten well together. While she was insecure from the robbery, she didn't know who or what to feel. When her sister Ridley paid her a visit, she had feasted her eyes on Baxter, one of the coworkers at the park, and sparks continued to fly. Hot off the heels of a divorce and looking for a new love, she made herself a new home in the park and brought a RV to lure Baxter in a seductive trap. Besides all of this, someone had targeted Phoenix by scaring her to death, while Cooper protects her and begins to let go of the ghost of his last wife. When the past came to ahead, it was a life and death situation for Phoenix to take back her life and get the happiness she deserves and face her past...
