This book is SO GOOD!!!!! The beginning prologue is absolutely heartwrenching (I was tearing up, and I rarely do that). Then the rest of the book is so hilarious with plenty of action thrown in the mix. At this point, Karen Witemeyer has perfected her style of humor and action, a style I can't seem to get enough of. Even the characters' inner thoughts are worded very cleverly to create humor at points.

I loved the main characters, but I think my favorite character was Zach. I'm so excited that (

Loved the start of this novel that brought three orphans together to create a patchwork family.

Evangeline is reluctant to be seen in town due to her two different colored eyes and the way that many see her as evil or odd. I loved her pet Hezekiah, a boar.

A little action, a little humor and a good story line. Another good novel by Karen Witemeyer.

More Than Meets the Eye was another A+ read from Karen Witemeyer. I loved the characters right away and the first scene made me really feel for the heroine.

The romance was great. I liked how he came there for revenge, not love, so a romance wasn't something for which he was looking. The brothers were awesome and I loved how protective they were of Eva.

All in all, More Than Meets the Eye was a wonderful read and I definitely recommend it. I loved the story and cannot wait to read the next book

A delightful romp but with lots of heart and depth. I adored the heroine. And the hero grew into the man she thought he could be. The development of the story and characters was so enjoyable.

This is my second book to read by Witemeyer and I enjoyed it just as immensely.

The orphan train in the beginning immediately gripped me. I loved this patchwork family—their diversities, their struggles, their secrets, and their needs. Then add Logan into the mix with his own problems, and I found a fantastic array of characters.

I thought the spiritual content was a decent balance. It strengthened more as the story progressed, and held a powerful punch at the climax. I appreciated that the charac

This was super cute. I loved Evangeline and her positive outlook. I also loved her brothers. And Logan. Let's just say that he has a lot of issues to work through, but I love how he works through them.

I'm hoping for a story about Zach.

I received a copy from the author to help promote. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
This one was simply a lot of fun! Liked the mystery and the family dynamics just as much as I enjoyed watching the hero and heroine banter their way to true love.

16+ because there were a whole bunch of kisses in this one.

I’ll try to come back later and link to the full review.

This story starts with tragedy. One brought upon a little girl shunned by society because of mismatched eyes. Amidst heartbreak and trauma, Evangeline finds a balm for her soul in the set of most unexpected people who are willing to call her theirs. And so she grows lavished with love, though still secluded from society. She also grows determined never let a creature, human or animal, ever feel the aching pain of disapproval.

Logan Fowler is thirsty for vengeance against the man who tore his fami

A new Karen Witemeyer book is something I always look forward to with great anticipation. It’s hard to pick favorites with Karen’s books, but More Than Meets the Eye is definitely high up on my list. And Evangeline is one of my favorite of Karen’s female characters, which is a big deal because I have trouble finding female protagonists I like. But Evangeline is just so happy and sweet you can’t help but like her. One of my favorite things about this book is the sibling relationship. I LOVE sibli ...more

I'm tellin' y'all, be prepared to cry! Whether it's from laughing or from being kicked in the feels. Karen BROUGHT IT with this book.

The prologue was a perfect set-up to an amazing story. We meet Evangeline when she's just 4 years old and constantly being looked over because of her mismatched eyes. Tragedy forces 3 orphans to build a patchwork family and try to survive on their own. HOW SAD IS THAT?!

Evangeline was such a spunky, kind of chaotic character that instantl

Knowing how much I enjoy Karen Witemeyer's books, I requested a copy on NetGalley as soon as More Than Meets The Eye was available. This latest novel did not disappoint!

This captivating story starts off with a very emotional prologue. It was a fabulous introduction for rest of the book!

Moving forward into the chapters. we are re-introduced to the Hamilton siblings as adults. A rag-tag family built on solid devotion and trust, the trio have been on their own for many years with Zacharias, the e

A new Karen Witemeyer book....

04/10/2018- I just saw the cover today and I am sorely disappointed. This is such a far departure from previous Witemeyer novels and just sub-par for Bethany House in general. Mrs. Witemeyer's novels deserve better covers than this.

This book was great, but my heart called out for more about Zack and the book wasn't about him. When I got to the ending... I wanted to strangle somebody. I immediately checked the internet and I see his story is saved. And so is Karen Witemeyer. Lol
Seriously, there were some heart wrenching parts to this book. It was good, but I'm really looking forward to the next one. And it's a marriage of convenience too! Swoon!

This was my first book by Karen Witemeyer and it didn’t disappoint. Eva was so sweet and spunky. Logan and Eva were perfect for each other. I liked how the characters grew from their mistakes. I loved the ending. I loved her brothers and how close and loving her family is. Zach was one of my favorite characters, and I’m so excited to read his book. I’m happy to say I’ll be reading more books from this author in the future.😊

I love when an author can draw me right into the story and setting and make me feel like I'm there! Evie's background as an orphan on the orphan train is tragic, yet she uses her trials to strengthen her faith and stays optimistic. She has such a fun and funny personality, it was a pleasure to read about her mannerisms and special way of warming up even the most recalcitrant cowboy. Her insecurities about her eyes and the way many of the townspeople respond to her difference sharply contrasts wi ...more

Karen Witemeyer’s first book in the Patchwork Family series is a winner. The author grabs your attention with a tear-jerking prologue and hangs on to it all the way to the HEA epilogue. The spiritual lesson contained in this novel is presented in a way that is thought-provoking, but not preachy. It flows as a natural part of the story.
Evangeline has every reason to be bitter about the life card she has been dealt, but her temperament is just the opposite. She is loving, sweet, and grateful for a

Everything that is perfection in fiction wrapped up in one beautiful story.

I'm pretty much gobsmacked over this one. My favourite Karen Witemeyer novel for sure....and she's left me yearning for Zach's story so much so that I've searched the web trying to find a release date -- or anything about the next book in her Patchwork Family series -- but I've come up empty. Mournful sigh.

Thankfully I'm still giddy over More Than Meets the Eye so that's some comfort. Especially when I think about Zach...

It pains me to say it, but they just released this book cover art and it is, hands down, THE WORST Karen Witemeyer cover I have ever seen! In fact, it is one of the worst Bethany House covers I have ever seen. What's happening??? BHP used to be celebrated for their stunning, original, beautiful covers. Lately, they all look like cheap, homemade self-published covers from the early 1990s. Why have their designs become so amateurish? I adored the spunky and sweet Eva and don't even get me started on the menfolk in this novel...between Logan, Zach, and Seth...cowboys with hearts of gold, the lot of them. Wow, Karen whitemeyer has done it again! This book was absolutely adorable. A quick and very recommended read.

By the end of the first chapter I had already been drawn in by the characters and their humor. My favorite part was watching the two main characters battle through different hardships, their total trust in God through it all, and the development of their character along the way. I found the characters to be very elaborate and well thought through, very real. I especially loved Evangeline

From its heart wrenching prologue to its heartwarming epilogue, Karen Witemeyer’s latest book is a pure delight and arguably her best book yet. Who can resist a heroine with a penchant for rescuing strays, including a wild boar, and a hero who – despite his best intentions – falls head over heels in love with the one woman he is certain is absolutely wrong for him? I highly recommend this beautifully written romance. I’m waiting eagerly for the next of the Patchwork Family books.

One of Witemeyer’s BEST

This. Book. Oh my. It was everything I needed in a book right now. Wonderfully rounded characters, gorgeous scenery, unexpected type of villain, sweet romance, and just the right dose of suspense!! I’ve been a huge Witemeyer fan since her first book, Tailor-Made Bride, and this one is her best yet!
