Cassidy I always believed in fairy tales. So much so that I made a career out of them. As a wedding planner, I made it my goal to perfect everyone else's happily-ever-after. I even believed in finding mine once, too, until one man left me alone and pregnant –crushing my dreams, and leaving me jaded. Blake I was living every man’s dream; I had the career I’d always wanted, my soulmate in my corner, an adorable daughter, and a son on the way. Everything was perfect until it wasn't. A series of unforeseen events tragically altered my path. In the blink of an eye, I was left a widower and a single father of two. I wasn't seeking love again, but she found me. Now I just needed to break down her walls and help her fall. **This book can be read as a standalone.**

descriptionNot a huge fan of this cover. It's a bit boring, and the placement of the title is really odd and throws off the entire composition.description

descriptionI thought this one was cute (mostly). It turned a little cheesy around 80%, but overall I enjoyed it well enough. If you don't like the "dead wife" thing than you probably should give this one a pass. I am not bothered by it usually, and I wasn't really in this book as well. That said, the author does jump back in time as the hero thinks back to individual moments with his wife (how they meet, their wedding, etc.) I didn't feel I needed all those details when I was trying to connect to the present day romance. But even with those memories I never felt like the heroine was second best.

description

It was a relatively short read. Very insta. This couple spends a lot of time apart due to living so far away from each other. Extended periods of time (one month, two months, etc.) go by without them physically seeing each other. I felt the story would have been better had the couple spent more actual time together. No OW/OM drama. The kids were cute. I liked Blake a lot he was all in from the moment he meets Cass. I didn't particularly like Cass all that much. I didn't find her funny. I didn't understand why everything had to be a secret. I also thought she was a bit selfish and self-centered. Honestly, had I been Blake after that runner she did I would have said sayonara bitch and moved on. Lastly, this was wrapped up in a cute 12 years later epilogue.

This one gets a thumbs up from yours truly.description

Dead spouse is not my trigger, I'm all for finding a new love, but.... did he really love his wife that much he told us, that only after 10 months after her death he wanted another woman?! Chemistry or not, there is still a respect.
And the way he got her phone number... He 'stole' it from his friend's wife's mobile. Like really, dude?!
Feel sorry for his late wife. She deserved better.

Cassidy & Blake meet at their best friends wedding, his friend is the groom, hers the bride. They are attracted to each other at first glance but there is also denial & reluctance...from Cassidy. She is deeply emotionally scarred from her last relationship, a guy who left her to deal with a life changing issue on her own; a pregnancy. As a wedding planner, Cassidy helps women achieve their dream wedding, plans their day to fulfill all of their fantasies, she just no longer believes in the fairytale herself.
Blake lost his wife to a drunk driver less than a year ago, has two very young children to nurture while he continues to work in his field of journalism.
This is why I loved Blake: devastated by his wife's death, the love of his life, left with two children to raise on his own, works full-time & in less than a year he meets a beautiful woman with whom he feels a connection & whole heartedly pursues her. He has so many valid reasons to dwell in the past & feel sorry for himself but doesn't. He doesn't want to miss this chance.
Cassidy, a likable character (most times) but gets on my nerves as she whines almost daily to herself how the last guy left her to raise a child on her own. She no longer loves him, has raised a lovely little girl, yet chooses to use this ass of an ex as an excuse to not trust men. Arrrrgh! She has met a wonderful man who is raising kids on his own as well & doesn't moan about it. He has no doubts about wanting to have a relationship with her & the icing on the cake is that their own friends know him well & to be a stand-up guy.
Everyone understands how life throws each of us very unexpected curveballs, but Cassidy has had five years to get over hers. I say it's time for her to trust this wonderful guy & move on to better possibilities & happiness. This does end in a HEA, I enjoyed the story, especially Blake but the three stars is due to my annoyance with Cassidy. Too bad though.

M.C. has completely floored me with her latest book. I couldn't put it down, I had to know what was going to happen with two main characters and their explosive chemistry. And she definitely didn't disappoint, she wrote a book with passion, loads of silly banter, and a topic you rarely see in the reading world..... both main characters are raising kids on their own for completely different reasons.

Blake is recently widowed dad of a young daughter and a newborn son. He is a journalist by day and super dad at night. He has a lot of support from his parents and his best friend, Rich, and his wife, Brooke. He is trying to live his life and raise two kids, but he soon realizes he needs to open up his heart again.

Cassidy is a single mom with dreams of one day getting her fairytale ending. Her dreams were crushed when she told her now ex-boyfriend, that she was pregnant. She decides to raise the baby on her own. She worked her way up to be one of the best wedding planners.

Cassidy is Brooke's maid of honor and has heard rumors about Rich's best man and friend, Blake. She knows the horrible tragedy he has gone through, but when she sees him for the first time at the wedding, she forgets about it temporarily. Blake is extremely blown away by Cassidy and can literally feel his heart beat again for the first time since his wife died. They start off slow, with meeting and text messages, all while hiding it from their friends. Eventually their chemistry brings it to the next level and the kids are blended into their dates.

Can their relationship survive long distance and the both of them having kids prior to getting together? Will Blake ask Cassidy to move near him or will he make the jump himself? What happens when their friends find out?

This book was incredible! I absolutely loved everything about it, my favorite was Blake and Cassidy's silly banter. I highly recommend this book because it a truly heartfelt story.

Unforeseen by M.C. Decker was so much fun to read. Do not get me wrong, it had some very turbulent moments, but overall a great story about finding your second chance!

Blake knew happiness at its best. He loved his wife and children and had a good a good job. Everything was perfect. Then before he knew it, he was a widower with two kids to raise. I loved Blake. He was such a good man, honest, determined and caring.

Cassidy is a wedding planner who once believed in happily-ever-after. Helping others find their happy endings always felt good and she thought she would have that one day too. Then she found herself alone and pregnant. Devastated, she dedicates herself to her business and her daughter. Cassidy made me sad. She was so afraid to open herself up to be hurt again.

When Blake and Cassidy meet at their friend’s wedding, the attraction is instant. But after the heartbreak she went through, Cassidy is afraid to let go of the past and the hurt she felt. Blake is surprised to feel something for another woman, but willing to see where it goes.

This was at once a very heartwarming story about second chances and sad and heartbreaking. Their journey was not easy, but both were real and honest with each other at all times. I loved seeing both characters grow, the interactions with the children and their friends. A great story overall!

“Grab the tissues and wine, 5 stars”

Unforeseen has been in the making for years. If you’ve read Brooke and Rich’s story than you know who Cassidy and Blake are, if not that’s okay. This story will break your heart right off the bat. At first you’ll reach for the tissues to cry your eyes out then switch to wine to finish the story. Honestly, I’ve never been through anything that is in the story but Unforeseen made me feel like I lived it.
Blake knew love once. He had that flawless marriage where everyone would look at you and wonder how in the world you two did it. His wife was sweet as can be and ripped away from him in the blink of an eye. Blake never planned on moving on, especially so soon but sometimes life happens. He just wants to be happy again and give his kids the best life he can.
Cassidy has never known the love of a man. She’s a single mom who was burned and has no interest in dating. When she sees a handsome man, she can’t help but be intrigued, until she learns who he is. See Cassidy knows all about Blake and what he’s been through and frankly she’s not in a position to fix someone when she herself is broken. But what happens when the broken man sets his sights on you?
These two were comical and hot. They had the support of their friends and kids the whole time. Blake and Cassidy never hid a thing from each other and I loved that, they were unapologetically real. It isn’t an easy smooth sailing love story, its rough and turbulent at times. But the end result was beautiful. I cannot wait to see if Decker gives us a story about one of the kids.
Plot- 5/5
Character- 5/5
Heat- 5/5
Writing style- 5/5
Overall- 5/5

What happens when you mix one sassy, independent woman who’s given up on her own hea, with a man who thought he’d never find love again? You get Unforeseen, a lovely story of second chances. Cassidy Carpenter is a single mom who has been raising her daughter on her own since day one. Blake Mitchell is a widowed father of two, still dealing with the heartbreak of losing his wife. Neither one was looking for love, it wasn’t even on the radar for these two…you could even say it was unforeseen.

When Blake and Cass first meet at Rich and Brooke’s wedding rehearsal the attraction is immediate and unexpected. Although Blake has hopes of possibly pursuing something further with Cass, she shuts that down fast. Her past is still influencing her when it comes to men, and knowing Blake’s own tragic not-so-distant past, she believes that what she’s doing is for the best. But Blake is nothing if not persistent, and while he may accept her denial and excuses at first, he knows that what he feels is mutual and he won’t give up until Cass realizes what’s right in front of her.

What follows is a bumpy, compelling ride, as Cass and Blake navigate her uncertainty, the fact that he lives 500 miles away, and a few surprising twists along the way. You'll be crying and swooning and laughing right along with them, as they work through all the obstacles thrown in their path.
At times heartbreaking, but with moments filled with pure joy and humor, Unforeseen is a romantic story that will have you believing in second chances.

I love a good single father/widower/second-chance romance. And this fit those categories perfectly! We had Blake, a man who recently lost his wife and has two young children; and Cassidy, a single mother herself with a five year old. They meet for the first time when their two best friends are getting married, and the chemistry begins right away.

I think there were a couple of things that made this difficult for me. The first is that Blake lost his wife about a year ago, swore he would never find love again, but the minute he meets Cassidy, he starts pursuing her. And that's fine, really- I'm a believer in finding love again- but there's little internal conflict within about Blake moviing on. He just meets Cassidy and moves on (there was the scene with the wedding band, but I felt little emotion about it).

The other thing was the ages of Blake's kids. Maddy was under a year old when her mom died, and Ben was born that same day that she passed away. Their age difference doesn't bother me, but Maddy was talking a lot more and more animated than I would have expected a two-year old to be a year later when Blake and Cassidy meet.

Other than these two examples, I really loved this book. I loved the characters and the plot. I will definitely go back and read the other books in this series!

Unforeseen by M.C. Decker was a pretty decent read. A bittersweet second chance at love again story.

The plotline was good and for the most part I liked the characters. Blake, the handsome widower and single father, who is not sure if he is ready to find love again. Cassidy, the single mother to an adorable little girl, who doesn't believe in true love for herself but is a wedding planner.

The main problem I had with this story was Cassidy. She sent so many mixed signals to Blake that I was ready for him to give up. Yes, her past did hurt her but there is a point that you should be moving on.

The kids were adorable and loved how they interacted with the adults. Cass was affectionate with Blake's children and Blake was the same with Cassidy's little girl. There were a couple of over the top situations of the plot line but it didn't take away from the story.

I did like M.C. Decker's writing style and would be interested in this author's future stories.

What a way for an opening!

My heart broke for Blake, Maddy and Ben from the very first page. I couldn't imagine going through what they had to endure.

When Cassidy and Blake meet, I was so rooting for them!

This was my first book from Ms. Decker and I thoroughly enjoyed. She was able to draw the reader in from the beginning. I didn't want to stop reading (which I didn't, I finished within a day).

I highly recommend Unforeseen.

The back cover/elevator pitch was what enticed me to purchase and read this book. While I liked the plot I just couldn't get behind or like the characters. While I understand this is a work of fiction and not everything is going to be realistic, I had to overlook a ton of things in both of their lives. For example, I know they had jobs but they never seemed to work. And if they did work who watched their kids while they were gone? They also were flying quite a bit and I don't know about you, but just hopping on plane with little kids isn't all that realistic. Everything was just too nice and tidy for Cass and Blake for my taste and everything seemed to align just right whenever they wanted to "get it on". (Sure my best friend who just adopted a baby and is pregnant with twins will watch 3 kids for the night...)

A message from heaven

Two shattered souls heal one another and they get the push they need from an unexpected source. Overall quality of writing was good, some steamy intimacy scenes, no cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ever after.

This is a bittersweet love story about a second chance at love after heartbreak.

Blake lost his wife unexpectedly to a horrific incident leaving him and his two young children behind. With a broken heart, he said his goodbye, positive that he would never find love again.

Ten months later, he met Cassidy.

Cassidy’s heart had been broken too. As well as her faith in finding a new love. Ridiculed and abandoned by the father of her unborn child, Cassidy shied away from relationships for years. Once bitten and twice shy as they say. After all, she had her daughter to think of first.

But there’s something different about the way that Blake gaze into her eyes that convinced her to open her heart one more time.

Ok, here I go again. Just like everyone, I dip into contemporary romance every once in a while. Light-hearted and funny ones are my to-go for as I find it difficult to dive into deeply emotional and angst-infested stories. Too close to real life and such, I just can’t deal.

Unforeseen, in a way, was like that. With so many broken relationships nowadays, it’s inevitable for two made-up families to merge together when the adults try to find love once again. A few are successful and manage to join up their families like pieces of jigsaw puzzles. But not before over-coming a few trials along the way.

Blake and Cassidy’s journey had been the same. Thankfully for them, their children were still young to resist this new life trusted into them. Also the “trials” thrown-in had been solved easy enough as long as communication was kept open between the two adults. In a way, this had been a modern fairy tale of sorts.

I had doubts in the beginning because things happened a bit too fast and too perfectly. I felt Blake wasn’t ready to really commit himself to Cassidy when his heart still belonged to his late wife. Thankfully, the author slowed it down a bit and allowed the two to fall in love first before diving in into a full-blown relationship.

This was also a full-length book that had a happily ever after ending. Not entirely sure if it belonged to a series, unless the next book is about two completely different characters who were somehow connected to Blake and Cassidy.

Recommended for readers looking for an easy read that leaves you with your heart whole and a contended smile lingering on your lips afterwards.

I'm trying to find words to start this review without sounding like a parrot, lol, always repeating myself but I can't. I just can't so deal with it.
I've wanted to read a book from this author for so long but time wasn't in my favor and when I had an opening I just started it. And I want to slap myself for taking so long but now it's done and oh boy!!
M. C. Decker has a great and simple writing that will make you feel and blush sometimes...
Unforeseen is her latest release and what a book.
This book explores the lifes of Blake and Cassidy.
Blake had it all, a home, a beautiful wife, kids and so much love to give until the day his wife dies and he was left with their kids all alone. It's been a struggle to get back on his feet and he has sworn love away because he can't suffer anymore.
Cassidy is the dreamer. Since she was a little girl that she believes in happily ever afters and true love and so she dedicated her career as a wedding planner and help them find their own fairy tale. Despite she hadn't had hers yet she devides herself between her job and her kid.
Their paths will cross but are they so damaged that can't find happiness again?
Let's just say that I loved this book. I thought that I was going to find a sad story but I was wrong. We will find some heavy stuff but these two are hilarious together.
The plot is amazing and the interaction between the characters is beautiful and funny sometimes. Between the heartache and the laughter you will see that this was a beautiful story.
Love can get to you when you least expect it so you need to open your arms and embrace it.
M. C. Decker you are amazing and I want more.

I fell in love with MC Decker and her writing abilities when I read Unwritten. Granted, I wanted to hurt her when I reached the end. Yes, there was a cliffhanger. She redeemed herself with Unscripted, so she may live.
We were introduced to Cassidy and Blake in the aforementioned books. In my opinion, they ALWAYS deserved their own book and now, MC Decker has done this with this spectacular book, Unforeseen.
I am not going to rehash the story line, for a couple of reasons, first it is in the blurb. Second, I do not want to give anything away.
Unforeseen is just as emotional as Unwritten and Unscripted, and it started in the Prologue when Blake had to say “…. Darn, I said no spoilers. I will say the tears started to flow.
I loved watching Blake come out of his funk, because of Cassidy. She healed him in ways that no one else had been able to. Just as Blake helped Cassidy to heal her emotional scars as well. No, sorry, I refuse to give anything away. You will have to read this fabulous book to find out what I am writing about.
As I stated above, I was first introduced to Ms. Decker’s writing in Unwritten and have been a fan of her highly emotional, fun loving, romance novels ever since.
Kudos, Ms. Decker on another winner!!!
I was gifted with an ARC copy of Unforeseen for my honest opinion. When I started this wonderful book, I could not put it down until I finished, although then I was sad because I finished it. I did not want their story to end. Catch 22...sigh.
I hope I have helped you make the decision to buy this book, because it is FABULOUS
What are you waiting for!!??!!?? Go hit that one-click button, you will not be sorry.

Great love story about taking chances for a second time.
Blake is a single father of two young children. His wife is tragically killed by a drunk driver.
She was the love of his life. He's still only thirty-three and he can't imagine ever being or feeling in love with anyone again.
Cassidy is a single mom of bright five year old Kaitlyn. Cassidy thought she found the love of her life with Kaity's dad. The dad she finds out she's pregnant and tells him he walks out on her.
She now dedicates her life to her daughter and her business.
When Blake and Cass meet attaining the wedding rehearsal of their best friends it's instantly attraction.
Cass although is attracted to Blake she's too scared to act on it. Too hurt from a painful past.
Blake thought he'd never feel anything for another woman again. He's determined to show Cassidy that they can work.
Read Unforseen and witness Blake and Cassidy's journey.
It's a story filled with heartbreak and hope, sadness and happiness and lots of laughter and fun.
Meet their three adorable children and their best friends.
Their trials and tribulations and the twist that might changed the direction of their relationship.

I first met sassy Cass and sexy Blake as the best friends in the Unspoken series but this is THEIR story. A complete stand alone but fatastic complementary story to the other.
This book put me on an emotional rollercoaster! From the heartbreaking prologue, to the happy tears in the last chapter, to the big smile I wore reading the epilogue. LOVED every word!
One of my favorite parts was the kids!! And this author let them be unpredictable, nosey, c#ck blocking,, real life kids. I love kids in stories!
The romance was so real both had their past issues to deal with he a widower and her so hurt that she would not let a man into her heart. But once her walls started coming down and his heart was allowing him to move on, it was beautiful. Then it got hot, set my Kindle on fire hot! But good lord the road to love was not easy, they had some bumps and mountains to get over!
A fantastic story that I loved and couldn't put down!! I also now have a serious girl-crush on Cass, she was awesome!!

I loved loved loved this book.
At first, I didnt think I was going to make it through the first part. I cried and cried. Luckily I made it through and finished one of the best books I have ever read. This is Blake and Cassidy's story.
Blake lost his wife in a tragic accident and was left to raise two kids on his own. He is the picture perfect single daddy. He vows to move on with his life and possibly with Cassidy. But first, he needs to learn to let go of his ex wife.

Cassidy had a horrible past with her ex boyfriend. One who said horrible things to her when she discovered she was pregnant. With the help of her best friend, she got past all the heartache. But your past has a tendency to weer its ugly head.

This book was beautiful. I will certainly remember this book for a long time. Why? Because it told a beautiful story of two people trying to find themselves again. Overcoming some major obstacles and they still found love...

Amazing 5 star read.

A well written story and plot. I like the main characters Blake and Cassidy. But sometimes Cassidy really annoys me and bring me to the edge of screaming at her. She is way to stubborn and acts like a spoiled teenager. But apart from that it is a great story that brings aspects that could be real life issues.
It is written in dual POV which I like very much because it gives the reader the chance to know both characters thoughts and feelings.
The story has some twists in it but it is rather predictable. It is about two single parents that have to let go of the past which can be very difficult. But they also have to think about their children. Some incidents in this story surprised me when it came to parenting your kids. And it was not in the positive way. No spoilers here.
This story has a lot of ups and downs, passion, emotions, passion and doubts. Characters that have to learn to love and trust again.

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review.

After tragedy can you find happiness again? After years of being afraid of taking a chance on love can you open yourself enough to try?

Blake Mitchell lost the love of his life in a tragic accident leaving him a widower father of two kids under three. A little less then a year later Blake meets a woman who makes him feel again. But is it too soon after loosing his wife to try again.

Cassidy Carpenter has spent years bringing everyone else their fairy tale wedding knowing that she would never have one. Five years ago Cassidy was left pregnant and harden against love. But when she sees Blake at her best friends wedding and maybe just maybe she is willing to take a chance.

Can Blake and Cassidy overcome all the obstacles in there way to take a chance at the fairy tale.
M.C. Decker once again takes you on an emotionally journey that will leave you cursing her name and reaching for the Kleenex. Unforeseen is one of the best books I have read this year.

This is one of the best books I've read this year. It is heart wrenching, have the tissues ready!!
If you've read the Unspoken Series you've already met Blake and Cassidy, Rich and Brooke's best friends. If you haven't, Unforeseen can be read as a stand alone.
My heart hurt from the beginning. Between the two of them there are three children with only one parent. Blake is a widower, having lost the love of his life in a tragic accident. Cassidy is a single mom who has raised her daughter alone since day one. Cassidy can't let anyone get close, she has a wall around her heart. Can Blake love again after losing the love of his life?
Watching this story unfold, the author weaves a story that makes the reader feel the characters fear, trepidation and then their willingness to take a leap of faith. Once you start reading you can't put this book down!

This book was so good. M.C. did a fantastic job with her writing. The way it was written I felt like I was listening into real conversations and i was actually there. This story is Blake and Cassidy's. Blake's wife dies at a very young age leaving him with 2 children, 1 a new born that she never met. Cassidy has a daughter 5 and has been raising her by herself from the beginning of the 2 lines on a pregnancy test. So she didn't believe in love even though she sold others to the idea of a happily ever being a wedding planner. Cassidy and Blake met through friends and even though Cassidy fought happiness and love, Blake didn't give up trying. I loved how M.C. included the children in their time together/dates, because that is one obstacle single parents have to deal with. **This book is a standalone, but you can read Brooke and Rich's story and get a glimps.

You are all going to love this book. Grab the tissues, I was crying at the beginning and realized I hadn't even hit the first chapter, I was only on the Prologue. First you're crying then as you get into the story, you can relax and enjoy the story. You'll find yourself laughing at Sassy Cass, and loving Blake the whole time. Then you're grabbing the tissues again. This was an emotional roller coaster of a ride and I loved every minute of it. Can't wait to read the first two books that this was a spin off of. M.C. Decker is a Great Author, and I will definitely be reading all of her past and future books.

Very sweet second chance romance.
I liked that it was "messy" and by that I mean it was not a billionaire scooping up the perfect woman and they gallop into the sunset on glitter covered ponies.
It was a single mom and a widower trying to balance life after loss, their jobs, and life with kids all while trying to find themselves as parents and find love again. Can they allow love into their lives again?

Then the epilogue!!! I love a good epilogue. For some reason when it is years down the road, I tend to really adore them. Well this one gave me a dose of a different POV and the beautiful piece of closure I needed.

I am so in love with Blake. This broken dad who has lost the love of his life, is ready to open his heart to love again when he runs into Cassidy at his best friend's wedding. Cassidy isn't quite ready to dip her toe into the dating pool, but Blake is patient. When Cassidy finally gives Blake a chance he doesn't want anything to stand in their way. He knows that life is too short and he doesn't want to waste a minute of the time they could be together. There are always bumps in the road, but MC Decker creates such great characters with so much depth and feeling. I agonized with Cassidy and my heart broke for Blake as they need to figure things out. This was a great read! I loved it!

This is first book I've read from M.C. Decker and it was Excellent! Unforeseen is about Blake and Cassidy. It's a spin off from her duet Unwritten & Unscripted which is about Brooke and Rich. You don't have to read those before reading Unforeseen. I didn't and there was nothing off or missing and the story flowed perfectly. My heart broke immediately once I started reading this. I thought to myself aww s**t I already need tissues and I've only read the prologue. This was a very emotional but hot and funny story.

From start to finish I couldn't put this book down. The emotions were pouring off the pages and you will need a box of tissues. Love, heartbreak and a force that couldn't be broken Blake and Cassidy have a love that could last a lifetime. That is if they can let the past remain in the past. Both broken by love in different ways couldn't deny the instant connection. I love how their relationship unfolds and you get to see all the secondary characters connections to one another. This book was very well writing and a beautiful love story that will be hard to top. I can't wait to see what MC comes up with next. Purchase a copy of this amazing book you won't be disappointed.
