Terrie's Just Another Book B*tch

Switch and Bait is the second novel by Ricki Schultz. I was lucky enough to read her first Mr. Right-Swipe on vacation last year. Imagine my surprise when I got a request to again review another Schultz novel and added bonus...I would be enjoying it again on another beach vacation! Which let me just say... Schultz should be required beach reading material. I was very excited to read this book. I loved her first. You can read my review of tha

Switch and Bait was a refreshing read I found perfect for a relaxing day. This was my first from Ricki Schultz but I easily fell in love with her writing style and I know it won't be my last book I pick up from her. I thought the story was fun and light, and the characters were the perfect combination of quirky and sweet.

This is the type of book that you want to read in one sitting because once you immerse yourself in the world of Blanche Carter you won't want

I had some issues getting into the story. Surprisingly, I really liked the ending.

Switch and Bait's protagonist is a young woman by the name of Blanche. She works in a bookstore but as a side job, she helps people find a good date in the world of online dating.

She has become a success as a matchmaker ever since her earlier years at college. Now, she does it for a commission. She takes female clients only. As per the name of the novel, Blanche pretends to be the ladies and corresponds with the

This is incredible! I get so giddy when I find a new author. Switch and Bait was a one sit read for me and now I want more! It's been a few days since I've finished and my mind keeps creeping back into the world of Blanche Carter. A fun yet captivation character with a deliciously fun outlook on dating in the digital word.

Ah... it has been out for a bit so I am going to keep this short and sweet, as well as spoiler free.
One of my top reads for 2018 thus far. I needed an injection of humor and th

Switch and Bait is one of those stories that you can just read in one sitting which is what I did. It wasn't a perfect love story but it had plenty of steam, humour and heart. Definitely an enjoyable second chance romance.

Given the title there wasn't as much of a switch and bait situations as I would've thought. Except with the main storyline we only get a few lines of the other dating accounts Blanche handled. They were amusing but I think it would've been even more interesting to see some dept

This was the perfect way to start my summer! This book was so fun and charming that I read it all in one sitting. I seriously loved Blanche and all the drama that came with her.

Blanche manages a book shop in D.C. but in order to help pay the bills she also helps women get online dates. She considers herself a guru of online dating and offers to make dating profiles and online chat with men in order to get these women a date! However, her own dating life is basically nonexistent--through her own

I really wanted to like this book but the writing threw me off a bit and the added personalities of some characters. Maybe I'll go back to it in the future or maybe not. But give it a try even though it's not for me
Cute story but something about the writing style was throwing me off. Some scenes came off as choppy and rough (in terms of transitions or scene changes). Nothing big or horrible, but reading wasn’t as smooth or easy as I would’ve liked.

Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4

Blanche spent much of her college years being known as the Love Guru in her sorority, for her ability with matchmaking, even though she’s never managed to parlay those talents into a relationship of her own. Now out of school, she’s managing a bookshop a dating site that caters to the women of Washington, D.C., helping them to tweak their profiles to meet a man. She also handles those ‘pesky’ introductions and screenings, fending off inapprop

Thank you HBG Canada for sending me Switch and Bait

This book has a Matchmaker's Playbook vibe but instead of 2 dudes running a company, it's just one woman.

Blanche is a really interesting character. She helps her clients find love while not believing in it herself. A huge majority of her jobs are successful but when one of her clients gets matched with someone she has a past with, things get rather awkward. It's not even just a random hook up. It's her best friends brother-in-law so they consta

I enjoyed the author's debut novel very much and her sophomore effort did not disappoint. All of the characters are well-developed and her protagonist has a balance of wit and humility that I find endearing. This is a great read for the airplane, beach, or just a lazy afternoon. There are lots of LOL moments and the end will leave you with a warm heart. I look forward to whatever Ms. Schultz has in the works for book three!

Funny and smart, this book was a great summer read. I needed something that would make me laugh and be a fun read...this was the perfect book. I laughed out loud several times and buzzed through the book. It was so insightful and well written with a main character I adored because she was funny and sarcastic and really authentic. I think many readers will really relate to the struggles captured in the book and will appreciate the delivery of those struggles because the

Definitely straddles the line of being women's fiction with a romantic element. I wanted more of a second chance at love story, one of my favorite tropes.
Dialogue was fun and fast paced.
Story arc was good, but fell short of my expectations for the romance.

If you’re a fan of modern romantic comedies that burn up the page AND leave you laughing out loud, SWITCH AND BAIT by Ricki Schultz is for you! Blanche (a book seller / matchmaker) takes on the challenges of playing Cyrano De Bergerac for dating-challenged Ansley, but when Ansley swipes right on Henry – one of Blanche’s old flames – things quickly grow complicated. Add a Justin Trudeau lookalike in the mix, and you have the recipe for a fantastic Rom Com. You will laugh (and cringe) as Blanche f ...more

Blanche Carter has always had a knack for helping others make a love connection, she enjoyed doing it so much that she decided to try her hand at making a living off of it, and so far it has been quite profitable. It brings her so much joy to pair people up and watch the fireworks happen, but with all her experience she has yet to create her own fireworks with someone, which really isn't that concerning to her since she swore off relationships a while ago. She goes above and beyond for her clien ...more

Not bad. It's a fun, Cyrano de Bergerac-style take on online dating. I liked the witty banter between the hero and heroine (pretending to be her client Ansley) over the dating app, and I love the hilarious subplot about Ansley's clumsiness. As a museum nerd, I particularly like how Ansley's claim to fame is that she got banned from the Smithsonian for knocking over a stegosaurus display. (Not sure how possible that actually is, but I LOL'd.)

But the overall execution was just okay. Not sure what

You know this book is right up my alley, because a few years ago my best friend and I talked about starting a service to help people with online dating. When my former roommate was online dating, I used to scroll through her matches for her to pre-screen. It was way more fun than actually looking for people to go out with. In fact, based on my history I'm both surprised and a bit jealous that I didn't think to write this book first. It doesn't matter though, because this book was just perfection ...more

This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. When I read the premise for Switch and Bait  I was immediately hooked, it's about a woman who runs other women's online dating profiles to help them find dates. While helping a client, she finds out that the woman matches with a guy she used to have a thing with, and is conflicted about what to do.

You guys!! Switch and Bait was a hilarious and fun novel. Blanche was sassy and smart and did not hold back. I found her and Henry to be refreshingly honest and their chemistry so sexy. I could not get enough!! It is the perfect Summer beach read - light and delicious!

I found both Blanche and Henry to be sexy and honest and just great together. Their banter was delicious and the back and forth was such a delight. I loved that the author was able to seamlessly jump into their flashback scenes pr

This is the perfect beach read! I LOVED it!

Blanche is a book store manager (hello I want her job!) and on the side she is a matchmaker to those that are hopeless and can't find a date.

She did it for her sorority sisters back in the day for free, why not make some cash this time around. :)

She basically logs on to dating sites, sets up profiles for her clients, find the "perfect" matches and converse with them all while setting up dates for her clients to go on! She will even be at the date in hi

I loved this book! It’s a very quick read. Some of the words used were redundant, but it didn’t bug me too much. There are some explicit sexual scenes and usage of the “F” word, so if you don’t like that in your books I wouldn’t recommend it. The sex scenes are about a page worth so you could skip them as well. It’s definitely geared toward Millennials...there are lots of references about social media sites and dating sites that some older folks may not understand or find annoying. But, the plot ...more

This was my first time reading a book by this author. After reading the first chapter of this book I was hooked. The title, book cover and saying “We switch. I bait. Let me help you snag a date.” Intrigued me.

I really enjoyed reading this story from beginning to end. I loved the characters. Blanche, Henry, Gordon, Ansley, Isla and Graham. My least favorite character is Cliff.
The romantic/comedic banter between characters was fun and the family type friendships were a little emotional at times,
This was a fun romantic comedy that I flew through relatively quickly.

The story centers around Blanche who runs a bookstore by day, and has an interesting side hustle by night: running online dating profiles for women who need a little help getting a date. It's a fun job; she creates their profiles, finds their matches, messages back and forth with handsome men, then sends the happy women on their way. All is going well, until a man she had a one-time fling with shows up as a match for a client

It's over! Thank God! I didn't hate it hence the two stars but it was not a fun read for me. The authors writing style was probably one of the biggest issues I had plus the fact that the main character was such an annoying person. I liked the love interest but I don't really know why he loved her. She was nothing but bitchy and rude. More than anything I just hated how predictable the story was. I was hoping and praying for some life twist or something but nope! I did like a couple of the side c ...more

Not all bad, it is exactly the type of book it sets out to be and I read it to the end so it wasn't all bad. But some of the pop culture language was very contrived and in places interrupted the flow of the text rather than adding to it.
