A sweet tale of kindness. I asked for recommendations for Christmas–feelings books, and this is one that came up, and it does indeed do a good job of getting those feel–good vibes going.

The story is a little sickly sweet, but that's okay. I particularly liked the first 1/4 of the story that follows Louise, an unexpected adopted mother to Hope. This part is particularly tender and gentle.

The book definitely left me with the desire to follow the Christmas traditions that's created in the story, wh

Sorry Mr. Wright, your bestseller published in 2005, has become obsolete.
This little 172 page book with 19 chapters does not take long to read. The remaining 62 pages in this special edition are "inspiring true stories from past readers" who started or received their own jars. (Who says Christmas is getting too commercial?) I read this little novella because it was recently made into a one-night-showing-only-movie in selected theaters and broadcast on local PBS TV o

I received a copy of this wonderful book in a Goodreads giveaway and I feel blessed. This was a wonderful story that had me enthralled from the beginning. At times I had tears running down my face. It left me with a good feeling and has stayed with me and has me pondering what I need to do myself. I have asked my husband to read the book so we can discuss it together. This was a wonderful story to read during the Christmas season but would be a great book anytime of the year. While I received a ...more

I read the original book the year is came out, I think, and I remember I was touched by the story, but then time passed and I pretty much forgot the premise of the story. So rereading it today, it was actually like reading it for the first time...and while it was a little strange to be reading a Christmas story on a 95 degree day in August, it was a good pick-me-up and a reminder of how important it is to reach out to others. I really enjoyed the letters at the end from people who had been impac ...more

I'm so happy that my sweet cousin posted information about this book and encouraged her friends to read it. It is the perfect Christmas book, but truly it is a book for all seasons and for all faith traditions. Giving anonymously makes our hearts joyful and feeds us.

During the years since my beloved husband's stroke, three months of hospitalization, and the year at home that we shared in love, it has been hard to admit that I struggle. Three years later, this book has shown me a way to

Everyone should read this book!

What a wonderful Christmas read. If ever the world needed hope, it is at this time of year. This book reminded me that not everyone can enjoy Christmas. Many people are carrying burdens that seem to much to bear. This book shows how to share Gods love. And to experience its benefits.

Inspirational Story

Read in one day. Cried most of the way through. Immediately called cousin plus got copy for her sister to share. Also sent link about it to friend. Think read reviews before I purchased that said was maudlin. If book does not touch your heart and make you want to start a Christmas Use then Scrooge and the Grinch must be your Mom and Dad.

What a lovely, lovely Christmas book...touching story, all the characters' lives circling into satisfying completion...touches of suspense, tears, of course, surprises...and a great idea to integrate into all our holiday traditions.

Read this, share will not forget it...

Appropriately sentimental, but not too mushy. Well written for the genre. Perfect read for an evening by the fire and a cup of hot cocoa!
