Nursery School Dropout

Rate this book
High school boys today aren't allowed to shout lines from beer commercials during assemblies. They don't pray to God that an all-female high school stays cute either. But private schools put up with certain behaviors as part of the admission price.

"Nursery School Dropout" covers rude history without glorifying the past. Even though it goes from a preschool escape attempt to high school, few names have been changed. They didn't need to be —teens had nicknames like O.D., Nasal and Little Pee Pee.

For all the student misbehavior, though, Cheverus High School got the most public scrutiny when it was mentioned in the Academy Award-winning film "Spotlight." A priest who had taught at the Maine school for two decades was accused of sexually abusing students and later went to prison.

Michael E. Reagan Jr. takes a look at what was tolerated, who acted like a bigot (he did) and which teachers had positive impacts. Since he was a member of a class that rated instructors from most to least popular, he has had practice.

This was a very good book. It made me think about my own struggles as a kid coming up through the years. It was both sad and funny. I would recommend this book to others.
