John had been there. With Jesus when he went among the people and loved them. And John could still hear the I am the light of the world...I am the door...I am the way, the truth, the life... So, when John wrote his account of Jesus' life, he wrote so that others may believe and have life in Jesus' name.

Unfortunately a feeble attempt at writing a book. Very light weight approach to a Bible study asking superficial questions to an important book of the Bible. You’ll never need to open your Bible to go through this study. Top of mind thoughts will suffice. Plus, just to keep his effort as little as possible, he quotes his other books instead of writing new material. I will NOT purchase any more of his materials since it would be a waste of money. I will not finish this book and waste more of my time.
John has been my favorite book of the Bible for years. As I have read it this time with a fresh perspective and with he eyes of my heart open to seeing the truth. It has totally become my favorite. It holds a lot of truth and promises that I will hold onto and go back to in times of need. Max has a way of opening your eyes to see and want to see and understand more of God's truth and truly want to be a part of God's plan.
Did this as a study with my church. It felt like more of a personal devotional at times. Some of the lessons could have too many one word answer questions. There were also good insights and questions as well.
I used this book to lead a small group study on the book of John when I led a small group of Promise Keepers in Korea. An excellent way to look at Scripture, and the lessions can easily be done in a short time period (usually between 1-2 hours).
My bible study group is really liking the discussion time, but we all miss reading the whole Book of John. This study skips some parts of the book of John.
Personally, Max Lucado is too flowery...I'm not much of a poetry person. The SS Class takes it slow, and I miss some weeks. I like the class and people and discussion more than the book.
