Another fun book in the Dewberry Farm Cozy Mystery series, full of delightful characters and delicious sounding recipes. Yet while I enjoyed this book, as I have the whole series, I found the plot in this one to be quite transparent, which is ok, it's a cozy after all, but I did find the mistakes in the plot, due to bad or non-existent editing, to be distracting. I will continue to read this series as it's amusing, however I'll be keeping in mind that the quality isn't as good as it could be.

It’s the week leading up to Christmas, and the town of Buttercup, Texas, is buzzing about the skeleton recently uncovered in the city hall renovations. However, that changes when a dead body turns up in the parking lot of the local Mexican restaurant. The victim is Randy Stone, and the sheriff thinks it’s a case of a jealous wife stabbing her husband. But Lucy Resnick isn’t so sure, so she begins her own investigation, hoping to find the truth. Can she do it before an innocent woman spends the ...more

I enjoyed this holiday time cozy setting, and the newest story about Lucy Resnick. I’ve read all the stories in the Dewberry Farm Mysteries and recommend them to cozy Readers.

Christmas in Buttercup

I love reading holiday themed books. There is always a lot more romance what with the seasons and the happy couples. There is also deceit, false accusations and usually a murder. This is what you get in Mistletoe Murder. Karen MacInerney write this series and makes you feel like you are right there witnessing everything going on but also keeps you in suspense until the end. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.
I've seen a few book pals enjoying this series and thought I'd take the opportunity to jump right in with this latest release since I was still in the mood for holiday-themed reads.
I had no difficulty diving in with Mistletoe Murder even though it is book four. I enjoyed it so I will be going back for the earlier books when I get the chance.

It had the usual hallmarks of a cozy mystery, but also a bit of country charm all its own. The series takes us down on the farm where the main character and

A quick, easy read and a very good addition to the series. There were some random, unfortunate editing mishaps which were a little jarring. I do plan to continue with the series.
The more books I read in the Dewberry Farm series, the more I want to move to a small town in Texas! Mistletoe Murder is another winner from Karen MacInerney - set at Christmastime in the very cozy town of Buttercup. Murder is always depressing, but especially at the holidays, and when Lucy Resnick is asked to help clear the name of her friend's sister who is accused of killing her cheating husband she has her work cut out for her. Meanwhile, old bones and valuable paintings found during the ...more

Winter has arrived in the little town of Buttercup, Texas and once again a killer is loose. Buttercup is the home of novice farm girl Lucy Resnick who is struggling to maintain her grandmother's farm. The town is in the throes of Christmas season when the body of Randy Stone is found dead at local favorite restaurant Rositas. Everything points to a crime of passion, with his wife Isabella being implicated for offing her cheating man. Lucy, who is a former investigative reporter, goes in search ...more

My requirement for Christmas Read, fast read, cozy mystery or romance, magic or hygge. And this book fit the bill perfectly. This was one of the cute murder mystery books found during a casual walk in the aisles of Amazon. This was Book 4 in the series, yet the book adopted me and engulfed me with its inner warmth and cosiness and colorful characters.

Lucy, an ex-investigative reporter, lives a full life in Buttercup village selling her soaps and candles, enjoying a new love Tobias, and a

Christmas time should be full of family, fun, love and happiness - but this is Buttercup and nothing seems to go that smoothly!

Lucy is getting things ready for the Christmas market (candles, soaps, sprigs of mistletoe etc) and she is also trying to knit a scarf for her boyfriend, the veterinarian Tobias, the market items are going well - the scarf not so much! Mind you she isn't the only one Flora has joined the Buttercup Knitters and wants to finish a baby blanket for her nephew, when they are

This came across my path, and thought I'd try it as a Christmas read. I'm not really big on mysteries, or at least, mysteries on their own, but it sounded interesting nonetheless. It's a cozy one, which was fine with me, where she's a former investigative reporter originally from Houston, that does some asking around to after someone popped up stabbed. This was better than the anthology one I listened to for Halloween because those detectives per se, just felt like it was too much to believe ...more

This is a great series. It's Christmas time in Buttercup, TX and Lucy is getting into the swing of wintertime on the farm. She is growing some winter veggies and making and selling her soaps and jams at the local markets. When one of the locals, Randy Stone is found murdered in the parking lot of the local Mexican restaurant, sheriff Rooster calls it an open-shut case. He chalks it up to a crime of passion, the revenge of a scorned wife. Rooster, although never the sharpest tool in the shed, is ...more

Lucy Resnick, owner of Dewberry Farms, finds herself embroiled in another murder. This time involving friends.

A philanderer is murdered. Stabbed in fact. Mr. Stone is more than he seems though. His 'jealous' wife is accused of the murder, however, Lucy and her boyfriend, Veterinarian, Tobias Brandt are not convinced of Mrs. Stone's guilt.

There are other mysteries, unsolved, within this family. Can Lucy unveil decades old crimes and solve today's murders?

Lucy and Tobias are very likable

A festive cozy

Great story with several sub stories that made for a smooth flow. I loved the characters and enjoyed the festivity.

Oh yay! I'm back on with this series. I struggled with the Halloween book but the Christmas one? Oh I flew through it.

The Gist: Well, a guys been stabbed in the back and Lucy's friend's sister is arrested. But something more is going on and Lucy and her crew are gonna figure it out while they get ready for the holidays and basically do all the things.

I do like this group. Lucy, her best friend, her hunky veterinarian boyfriend. They're hard workers, care for each other and their community.

Casanova lover but a dead beat all the same

Another great read but fell at the last hurdle. Great build up, nice tension, two murders, a skeleton and then the big reveal that felt half baked and not as flowing, concise and together as the rest of the read. Shame as up to then I had been really enjoying it but that sort of marred the whole read.
The murder of the husband of a friend's sister has the sister arrested, her friend worried sick and her on the case. Is the sister really innocent

I loved this Christmas mystery set in Buttercup, TX. I hadn't read a book in the series for a while and was more than ready to read this when one of my online book clubs picked it for tonight's discussion. I was really glad that Sheriff Rooster was kind of on the sidelines instead of in the main story. He was so infuriating in the first two books, lol. I had to laugh when something funny happened to him! His deputies did just fine investigating the case without him.

I hadn't figured out the

Another great installment in this series. I really like Lucy as the main character- her background as an investigative reporter is interesting (and comes in handy!) and she comes across as more capable and independent than a lot of other leading ladies in cozy-style mysteries. I also really enjoy learning more about farm life and the ups and downs of running a farm. This book made me wish I'd read it closer to Christmas because it made me really want to visit a Christmas market!

This is another great book in the series. Lucy's life on the farm is wonderful. She's busy preparing her jams, soaps, and mistletoe bundles to sell at the Buttercup Christmas Market and enjoying her knitting group or special evenings with her boyfriend, the vet Tobia Brandt. Then a murder happens and Lucy and Tobias, along with her friends, get wrapped up in solving it and preventing more murder and mayhem!

Karen MacInerney’s new Dewberry Farm mystery, Mistletoe Murder, was an excellent read! The romance between Lucy and Tobias is very sweet and I always look forward to seeing where it’s going in each new book. I also love the “goings on” at the farm and in Buttercup. This story was a short mystery, very appropriate for the busy holiday! I haven’t been much for reading mysteries at the holidays, but this book may change my mind! Another winner by Karen MacInerney!! This installment of the Dewberry Farm Mysteries takes place at Christmas. There's been a murder in Buttercup, and the sister of Lucy's good friend is in jail for the crime. Trouble is, she insists she didn't do it, and needs Lucy to find out who really did commit the murder. I enjoyed revisiting Buttercup, as well as Lucy, Tobias and all the other character who live there. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, this is a definite must read. Can't wait for the next one!

A cute sweet holiday mystery

I have come to truly love the Dewberry Farm series. Lucy Resnick is a kind and down to earth character. The kind of person everyone wants to be friends with. I enjoy both the mystery at the heart of the book as well as the description of her pastoral life. Every time I finish a Dewberry Farm. I get a longing to have my own homestead farm.
I especially enjoyed this Christmas themed one. I so wish the Christmas mart was a real place I could visit. I could practically

Great book from an enjoyable series.

It's Christmas time in Buttercup and Lucy is selling her homemade products at the Christmas fair. All is going well until the sister of one of her friend's is accused of murder. Because the sheriff is a bumbling fool, more interested in deer hunting than looking for the facts and investigating the crime.

The characters and mysteries are what draw me to books by Karen MacInerney. She writes four series, but each book stands alone. I recommend these books to all

Another great read

Book 4 of this series finds Lucy more settled into her farm life, her friendships and her relationship with veterinarian Tobias. This reader felt settled and comfy also, thoroughly enjoying the familiarity with recurrent characters and Lucy. The mystery of the book had several intertwining stories, making for a very satisfactory guessing game of who did what and why. Already looking forward to Book 5. A perfect read for my downtime as I prepared for Christmas in Houston.
