Contains practical information on writing techniques, literary terms, and the characteristics of particular genres as well as advice on preparing and marketing manuscripts
I didn't read this book exactly. I read an edition prior to it that doesn't have an ISBN. Anyway, it's helpful for terminology and foundational components of stories. Not much else beyond that.
I first read this back in high school, and just looked it over again. This slim, readable volume is a solid introduction to the basic forms of writing, and to what makes for good writing. A lot has changed since it was published, but it is still worth reading.
A short guide to writing both fiction and nonfiction. It's a decent opening introduction to the forms of narrative but there's not a lot of detail in it. It's getting fairly old now as well.
