Esha Mehra could have taken care of her father, only if she had some support from her fiancé. But he had his priorities set and her sick father was nothing but a burden. Esha didn't have any other choice but to apply for a loan from her office. But she had not banked on the fact that the Head of Geno Technologies needed her for other reasons.
When Rohan Sharma saw Esha for the first time, he felt she was the one. He had no intention of falling in love with her for the pain of the past was still too much to bear. But he did need Esha as a decoy to his plan. But Esha was not a damsel in distress who would bend to his will easily. While he was sure that he would marry her only for six months, he still couldn’t understand why he felt a searing jealousy every time, her ex-fiancé Ayush’s name was mentioned.
While these two souls had other plans in their lives, Destiny conspires to bring them together. But will the stench of Death let them live their lives?
Rubina Ramesh is an avid reader, writer, blogger, book reviewer and marketer. She is the founder of The Book Club, an online book publicity group. Her first literary work was published in her school magazine. It gave her immense pride to see her own name at the bottom of the article. She was about 8 years old at that time. She then went to complete her MBA and after her marriage to her childhood friend, her travel saga started. From The Netherlands to the British Isles she lived her life like an adventure. After a short stint in Malaysia, she finally settled down in the desert state of USA, Arizona. Living with her DH and two human kids and one doggie kid, Rubina has finally started living the life she had always dreamed about – that of a writer.
Destined is the third book published by indie author and friend Rubina Ramesh. I can see the growth curve, Rubina. You have come a long way since the first draft of Finding the Angel.
What I really like about the author’s words is the rawness in them. She has her own unique style and that’s how it should be.
A quote from Destined:
Of all the hell bound virgins, he really thought she would not keep her side of the bargain? She scowled at him, her eyes blazing in anger. "I never - I repeat, I never go back on my promises."
That’s so typically Rubina Ramesh. Succinct words, hard hitting, original similes and bold characters that touch—no, dig into your heart. You might love them, you might hate them. But you can’t remain indifferent.
Esha is strong, bold, hardworking and adores her father. But she’s human enough to feel bogged down by the crises surrounding her life. Does that mean she’s ready to give up? No, never. What if her fiancé refuses to agree with how she wants to live her life? He has no choice but to get out of her life. I love this woman who has got her priorities right. And she’s not too perfect. Esha can be rude, defiant and has a temper too. Then there is that strong sense of self-respect that makes her exactly what she is. A powerful character, I must say. Kudos to the author!
I loved these words:
'She has a heart of gold and a mouth of a truck driver,' he would often joke. Well, the truck driver part Esha had often witnessed but the gold seemed to be safely hidden somewhere deep, very deep, inside her body.
This made me cry:
"I only know that he is my Dad and I love him very much. He has taught me my first word - Ma. He has taught me to walk and to ride my first bicycle. And today he needs me. What has law got to do with that?"
Words are a powerful tool for an author and Rubina Ramesh has those in plenty, I must say.
Rohan is a hot hero to swoon over. He’s a successful businessman whose company takes care of its employees and is also into philanthropy. I like these small touches that could be received well by the society since fiction does wield a powerful influence over readers. Rohan has a sense of humour and the best part is that he is truly empathetic towards Esha. I think that’s very important in a romance.
The side characters were superbly etched out. I hated Ayush, his mother and Zaira, exactly as I was meant to. I loved Esha’s father and Chakraborty, Rohan’s secretary.
Can’t you just visualise this scene? Read on:
Without thinking too much about it, she made her way towards the HR department where the company secretary Mr. Chakraborty's office was situated. He was a healthy man with a bald head. Everyone called him 'Mr. Flutesnoot' from Archie's world of characters. He looked like a forgetful professor but that was just a belying exterior. He was wearing a bright yellow flowery shirt with lapels that were in vogue during the Raj Kapoor era, his brown trousers held together with black suspenders. His bald head was shining, reflecting the lights high up on the ceiling. Only a few threads of hair could be seen in the middle of his head.
And oh yes, there’s a sizzling love scene that all romance readers would appreciate. You cracked it, Rubina Ramesh. Congrats!
Loved the cover by Floryie BL and I must say the title is perfect for the story.
And here’s one for the road, a quote from the book. You can see what I mean by hard hitting words that churn you up. No, I don’t really think this is a spoiler:
"So?" she glared at him. "I shouldn't feel hungry? I knew what you call my 'responsibilities' at a very young age, Rohan. The time you were flying kites. So freaking don't lecture me about responsibilities. I took my mom for chemo when I was eleven years old. I watched her wither in pain night after night, while doing my homework and getting ready for school. And do you know what happened when my mom died?"
"What?" Rohan whispered. He felt it in his bones that here lay all her pain.
"I felt relieved, Rohan. I fucking felt relieved."
Silence. Rohan just stood there stumped. Not moving at all.
VERDICT: This is one awesome romance and it would be a loss to miss it.
Destined is a beautiful tale of love, family, and duty. It is the story of Esha and Rohan who get into a contract marriage for reasons of their own. Esha is a strong, independent woman who lost her mother to cancer. She adores her father who, as fate would have it, is diagnosed with the same brutal disease. Her relatives ditch her when she asks for a loan. Her childhood best friend, her fiancee Ayush is also not helpful. He, along with his mother disagrees with how she wants to live her life. When all the doors slam shut in her face, Rohan comes to her rescue.
Rohan is Esha's charming boss who is truly empathetic towards her but he is also in a mess of his own. That's when he decides to help Esha by taking care of all the expenses of her father's treatment in lieu of a contract marriage. She accepts the proposal which she knew many would frown upon and soon finds herself in a soup- between desire and duty. Her priorities are set though, but will destiny bring them together?
Whoa! I was engrossed in the book from the word go. I had an emotional attachment to the story because I knew what it means to find your parent diagnose with cancer. I found myself in tears, reading about Esha's mom. But yeah, that's just me. What I loved the most about the book was about Esha's decision in taking care of her sick Dad. Her love for him is unconditional and she is resolved to find a way to help him, serve him. She believes that it is her moral responsibility as a daughter.
The below lines are one of my favorites.
'Would you leave your mother if she had the same issues?' Esha asks him(her fiance, Ayush). 'I am her son. I have responsibilities,' says Ayush. 'I am my father's daughter. I have the same responsibilities,' she says.
I had a lump in my throat reading this one:
"I only know that he is my Dad and I love him very much. He has taught me my first word - Ma. He has taught me to walk and to ride my first bicycle. And today he needs me. What has law got to do with that?"
The secondary characters of the book, especially Esha's Dad, Ayush and Zaira are well etched and helps in defining the story.
Now, let me make a confession. While I am a true blue lover of romance and Mills and Boon books, I am wary of picking some of the Indian authored books these days. The plot is always similar- a charming man meets a sassy-mouthed girl, they fall in love, have sex - not once, not twice but always, then there is an emotional conflict between the hero and heroine, and in the end, all is well and they live happily ever after. Believe me, I am fine with it. But then the lovemaking scenes have become mandatory like the action scenes in a Rohit Shetty movie - too many at that.
I'm just glad 'Destined' isn't like that. Rohan and Esha's romance is beautiful and I loved that Rohan is empathetic towards Esha. While they have a sizzling chemistry, the book doesn't lose its focus from the main plot. It evoked some strong emotions in me as a reader, and that's the author's success. The language is impeccable, and that's a given with Rubina's books.
Oh yeah, that's a beautiful cover as well.
Do I Recommend? Yes, it is a light, breezy read with a strong social message.
Which is better marriage: love or arranged? Nobody knows for sure. Common sense says that love marriage is better. Two people fall in love, have a courtship period and know each other. Then they decide to take it one level up. That is marriage. But what happens to arranged marriage couples. Do they suffer a loveless marriage forever? Is it inflicted on the hapless couples?
What is marriage? Is it a holy bond or just a legal contract between two parties? Religion says this is a bond till death do them apart. Law says this is just a contract between two consenting adults.
This book tries to answer these questions. What is the answer? For that you have to buy the book and read it for yourself. Here is the amazon link:
Esha is desperate because she has to arrange money for treatment of her father. She has lost her mother to cancer and now the same monster is afflicting her father. She tries to get a loan from her relatives who mercilessly refuse. Her childhood sweet heart and fiancée Ayush is also not helpful. Ayush and his mother come out as selfish, heartless people who think only for themselves. When she become dejected from everywhere, her boss Rohan is only the only ray of hope. He agrees to take care of all the expenditure but have a bizarre, humiliating and ridiculous condition. Will she agree?
The book has good emotional quotient. Esha feeling for her father are pure gold. But her feelings for Rohan are love or lust. Rohan gives her electric shocks every time which poor Ayush can’t. is love the name of electric shocks.
The book worked for me but only in parts. Plot device known as McGuffin is good if it is used once. But it is used too many times and that takes away too much from book. Say for instance why Zaira married Rohan’s father? If she was gold digger, then it makes more sense to marry Rohan because then she has all the property rights. As his mother she has to share property with him. Then why Rohan has to marry Esha (or any other girl for that matter) if ultimately he has to give Zaira her share. But everything else falls flat because of the poor and wafer thin plot. In the end no matter how hard Rubina tried to salvage Esha and Rohan conditions, they come out like doing it only for money. Live in has been better. And Ayush has been treated unfairly because if Esha knew him from school days; then either she is an idiot (which she is not as per her portrayal) or Ayush is a better actor than SRK.
The story starts with Esha getting a bad news that her father is diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. Her life turns upside down as it is difficult to get treatment for him with her meager salary and she has no one to ask for help. When it is time to show support, her fiancee and her longtime friend 'Ayush' shows his true colors and abandons her.
In these turbulent times, her boss 'Rohan' proposes to marry her in exchange for the responsibility to finance her father's treatment. Esha doesn't have any other option. While she also gradually falls for Rohan, she finds out the true purpose of Rohan marrying her. Only destiny can decide if Esha and Rohan can win their love for each other and clear their misunderstandings.
What I liked?
Of course, the romance. That is the first thing to mention. Esha is straightforward and bold, whereas Rohan is handsome, rich and kind. The chemistry, conversations and the attraction are all natural. The issues in their relationships and misunderstandings are relatable.
The next important highlight of the story is the concept behind it. This is not a usual romantic story. It makes the readers empathize the families that take care of their ill family member whom they love more than anything in the world. It talks about the sacrifices the families take for that person and the problems they face. This story also highlights the problems women face when they decide to support their parents financially after they are committed to marry.
I liked the narration and pace. I completed the novel in one go because of that.
What didn't impress me much?
The climax seemed to have wrapped up very quickly. I expected to read more about Zainab and Rohan's father. Rohan proposing Esha for the first time itself didn't look very convincing.
Overall, A good read for nook readers who love romance with a good story and relatable characters.
My Rating: 4/5
PS: I have received this book from the tbc blog tours in exchange for a review and this is my honest opinion on the book.
This is more than a love story – it’s a story about finding yourself and your purpose in life; a story about the ancient and still valid battle of duty vs. dreams that so many women face; a story of perseverance and caring, kindness and the lack of it; and ultimately also a story of a woman who’s stronger—and more blessed—than she thinks while facing one struggle after the other.
I could sympathize well with the heroine, Esha. And I bet many other readers can, too. After having already lost her mother, she is facing the loss of her father too. She’s thrown from the frying pan into the fire when she finds herself lusting for a man she shouldn’t, and accepting a proposal many would frown upon. Torn between deciding what’s right, and whether to listen to her head or her heart, Esha falls not only in lust but also in love. And love is the one thing that carries her through. I could understand her feelings towards her fiancé Ayush as well as towards her irresistible boss Rohan, and I rooted for her from beginning to finish.
If you enjoy well-written, emotional books that aren’t just about the romance, then you’re “destined” to read this one!
marriage contract with her boss under the watchful eye of the entire company; she becomes the wife so he can deal with his family, and he provides the money for her father’s treatment.
I enjoyed the author’s take on contract marriages. It starts out all business at first, but gets complicated when they both fall for each other. The author touches on social themes of Indian traditions where a woman is expected to care for her husband’s family, and a son is expected to take care of his. So who takes care of aging parents who only have a daughter? As social norms break, more and more daughters are found taking care of parents, and it sets a great example for the youth to follow.
It also helps that she’s strong and stunning and he’s hot, and their interactions are electric, the steamy scenes believable, the dialogue pert, the story concise and crisp. Great job by Ms. Ramesh. I received a review copy of this book.
I have read and enjoyed previous books by Rubina Ramesh but this one really topped my expectations. Not only is it a lovely story but also deals with a theme close to my heart - the caring of our parents in their old age and the acceptance of this fact by our partners in life. Definitely a must read everyone!
This is a story of Esha who is an only child of her father, but is caught in a dire situation financially. Her father is diagnosed with cancer.
Rohan is the big boss, he has money but is in a personal hell of his own, with his stepmother Zahira using the father’s will as a leverage to harass him.
The both unite to accomplish each their own means to an end but there is something else brewing beneath the facade.
A beautiful transition from contract marriage into a whirlwind of romance. Another entertaining novel by my favorite Author Rubina Ramesh.
I especially loved the twists of the father’s letter at the end and the characters of lakhan and Banejee.
Destined is a contemporary romance novel, it is the story of how two entirely different people brought together by destiny and their circumstances fall in love with each other and have their happily ever after.
Esha sees her world falling apart when her father gets diagnosed with stomach cancer. After losing her mother to the same disease, she wants to leave no stone unturned to care for her father and provide him the best medical treatment. But the expenses are too much to be paid from a single person's income. She finds out that her company is involved in philanthropic work and requests her senior for a loan after explaining her situation.
Rohan Sharma, a self - made billionaire and Esha's boss realizes that Esha could be the solution to the problem he is facing and proposes to marry her. Esha is stunned and refuses to his proposal but the events that follow make her say yes to the proposal. Will this contract marriage bring true love in the life of Esha and Rohan?? What is the Will that made Rohan do a contract marriage??
While the concept of this book is nothing new, it is well written. You can easily predict everything but still you fall for the main characters' emotions and steamy, dreamy romance scenes. I liked both the main characters, blunt, fiery and beautiful Esha as well as handsome and caring Rohan.
The story also brings out the unfairness of our patriarchal system where a daughter needs to have her in - laws' permission to take care of her family. This is very well presented and makes you think as well as makes you angry. The book is entertaining with romance and drama, it's like watching a Bollywood movie. It is an engaging and entertaining read.
Unexpected twists and turns makes our life more interesting and thrilling..In this book, Author talks about the way in which fate changes the lives of Esha Mehra and Rohan Sharma..”Destined” is a story of love, relationships, trust, commitment and self respect..
Esha Mehra is shocked when she finds out that her father has cancer..She is worried as she had already lost her mother to same dreadful disease..Her fiance and childhood friend Ayush is indifferent towards her father’s health. He and his mother feels that it’s not Esha’s responsibility to take care of her father as she is a daughter..Esha feels offended and upset on their insensitivity and ends her relationship with Ayush..
She meets Rohan sharma, her boss, to discuss about availing loan from office..She is surprised when Rohan has different plans..He asks her to agree for a contractual marriage with him just for six months..He says that he will take care of her father’s medical expenses if she agrees for marriage..She accepts and they get married..Rohan’s secret behind his sudden plan and whether they are able to live happily or not makes this story very much interesting to read..
I loved the way in which Author had portrayed the character of both Esha and Rohan..They are independent, head strong and likable..Esha’s self respect and her way of facing problems makes her special..Her responsibility and commitment towards her parents’ health is commendable..Author had beautifully narrated the relationship between Esha and Rohan.
Author talks about the way this society wrongly perceives that a daughter is not responsible for taking care of her parents..It’s time to change this narrow mindedness of many people who think like this..
Overall, I feel that this book is good, interesting and engaging to read..
Why should a woman be made to choose? Why can’t she choose both, duty and Love? When the burden of pain and the fear of losing your love is bearing upon you, just the presence of someone next to you is too valuable. Esha’s struggle to be strong as she stood by her father in his battle with cancer and the Deja vu she experiences is heart-wrenching. And trust me, I was so engrossed in her pain that I was shocked at my desire to hit Ayush. Out of the blue came a marriage proposal, a contractual marriage for six months, meant to benefit her father’s treatment and to remove the complications in Rohan’s life. What they both didn’t see coming (to the delight of my two doppelgangers—the one in white with a halo on top of her head and the one in black with red horns) was the intense attraction between them. The brewing friendship, companionship, intimacy, and finally love was perfect. Not even a second of dullness. The book holds you to Esha and Rohan’s romance till the end. I and my two doppelgangers loved the romance and their chemistry immensely. With her second novel, author Rubina Ramesh has made me eager to grab her next book.
YOU WERE MEANT FOR ME,AND I WAS DESTINED FOR YOU... ❤️ . . . . . . . . . . 💞"Destined",is a contemporary romantic novel by Rubina Ramesh,which shows love,hope, jealousy,anger,trust and much more.
💞This is the story of Esha and Rohan.Destiny plays it role and they end up in a six month contract marriage. Both were married only to achieve their own goals, but what this contract marriage would brew between them. How will love ignite between them.
💞With great plotting and beautiful narration, this novel with strong female protagonist and superb storyline, will make sure to conquer your heart. The cover, language and storyline,I loved everything about this book.
💞I would recommend you to try this out,if you are just like me,and love reading romantic books.
This book is an out and out love story, a typical romance like the M&Bs I grew up reading. Pick this one only if you are a lover of good romance, strong female characters and men who love them.
Destined is a love story that reminds you of the power of love and why the world loves to read romance, why it is the largest selling genre and why love is not just for lovers but for family, friends and life itself. The author has balanced romance, family and duty in this beautiful book. Yes, beautiful on the inside and out – did you check out the cover?
In spite of a serious topic, that Rubina has brought out in the open the book is a light, flowy read. What plagues our society today - daughters looking after aged or sick parents and how they survive the taunts and discrimination compared to a boy. A love of a parent is unconditional but not so, for a daughter, she must fight for the right to serve and care for her parents. It is as if she marries and relinquishes her claim and love for her parents.
Esha is trying to fund her father’s cancer treatment but fails miserably. Relatives and friends are the first to bail as is her ‘childhood friend and fiancé’ - Ayush. Slowly she realises that she is on her own and asks her company for the loan. Then she finds Rohan, the CEO, drool-worthy, solid guy. Rohan has his own demons to fight but he stands tall around the trouble. Esha finds support and faith with him. The solution was quite simple with the company Esha works for steps in to help her but Rohan has some strings attached to it.
Then there are the fireworks and Rubina does not disappoint. She writes with heart and spunk, her words pulled me in from the first chapter itself and kept me rooting for Esha even though Rohan had my thoughts.
Zaira, the ex is the troublemaker, spewing taunt and innuendos by the minute and Ayush who was to be the golden boy, the best friend turns into a version of her. I thought they were planning it all together such were their negative thoughts. Even though Ayush is sorted out, I felt Zaira could be too. She got off quite lightly for troubling such kind souls.
I enjoyed the tight narration and fireworks between Rohan and Esha. The witty, spunky conversation between the two lights up many a page. Add to Esha’s father who is a ray of sunshine even though he is the suffering making him so adorable. Destined made me happy, made me smile and made me read more. I hope to read many more such books.
Destined is made for enjoying your time as you find a bit of spark, a touch of vulnerability and rocking chemistry within its pages.
Esha the female protagonist, comes across as a strong- willed, level head one who is not ready to buckle under pressure. She can be sweet and rude. Not ready to be cowed down either by her fiancé, his mother and boss Rohan Sharma, she knows her priorities and responsibilities. Faced with a serious situation she needs to take some hard decisions. But can she, without compromising her dignity? For that you need to read the book.
Packed with stings and barbs, selfish motives and selfless love, ‘Destined’ also has some sizzling romance scenes that are sure to go down well with lovers of romance fiction and the romantic at heart.
The characters are etched out well and you can’t but help relate to their mood and mood- swings. Even the secondary characters are strong enough to make an impact on the reader. They play a pivotal role in moving the story forward. You may hate some of them but then you can’t help agree that without them the story would lose its charm.
Language is Rubina’s forte. She knows how to play with words to bring live the scenes. ‘Destined’ too is blessed by this ability of hers. The imagery is vivid and lingers long after the story ends.
Pace is perfect. Smooth and free flowing, it is neither too fast nor too slow. So there is no scope for letting out a yawn in between the pages, nor feel that things have been rushed through. One can relax and enjoy the story.
A lovely book that has all elements in a story: Passion, Hard work, Love, and Struggle.
"DESTINED", the name itself caught my interest. Rubina has a stronghold in penning mixed feelings people as protagonists. This story is a good mix of an employee and her employer. I love the language, characters, behaviour and all the elements that have been used.
🍒Esha, our female protagonist is a lovable, independent cute little soul and a hard-working girl. She was taking care of her dying mother all these years, and her world fell apart when her father was diagnosed with cancer. She hates the way history repeats. She felt the responsibility on her shoulder and she is not sure if she can manage it.
🍒Rohan, our male protagonist is the young CEO and a charming Boss for Esha. When he came to know about Esha's financial situation, he proposed the idea of a contract marriage with her because he likes to catch two fish with one worm.
🍒Now come to Esha's point, to meet her financial needs Esha requested her senior for a loan. But because of the problem her company is facing she couldn't get it approved. When her boss came to her with this contract marriage proposal, initially she disagree but eventually because of her financial burden and her father's treatment, she gave her consent.
🍒Why is it always the woman who has to sacrifice or have to choose between her family and her husband's family? Here in this story, Esha's condition is like that. She was put in that situation where she needs to choose between her marriage with her childhood friend Ayush and her father. If we experienced something like this, we should know how it feels to leave everything we love and take care of a family member with a terminal illness.
🍒No one is born with the capability of taking care of an ill person in a family. Not even a single person is prepared for this kind of disease. We wouldn't know this unless and until we experienced something like it.
🍒Hope you all read this book to get a glimpse into Esha's life and her contract marriage with Rohan. Do they fall in love? And how she tackles all her life's problems in one hand. Recommended.
Destined by Rubina Ramesh is a scintillating tale of love, duty, desire and the choices that govern them. The story mostly revolves around Esha and Rohan. Esha is a strong independent woman and Rohan is her charming boss. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, no one was willing to help her financially except Rohan by proposing a contract marriage to her. Will she accept this proposal out of duty and her unconditional love towards her father? Read more to find out how the story will turn out. The narration is sharp and sassy, and author infuses her characters with such an abundance of spirit that it is an absolute joy to read about them, and t there are some situations which really tug on the old heart strings.
There are other characters also who are equally appealing and are important to the story. Their presence are not only meaningful but are developed in such a way that an extension is natural and desired. What you get is an enjoyable and engrossing read and I am anticipating more novels from this author. The interactions between characters was interesting and I enjoyed our main character’s journey. Can't believe I finished this so fast! This book was such a great read!! The relationship between Esha and Rohan was cutely romantic but nothing super physical. All of that being said, this story did have an interesting cast of characters and there were various tender and touching moments. If you're looking for a gripping read then you should definitely pick this up!!
. "Destined" by Rubina Ramesh is a book which is based on the theme of Love. "If two hearts are destined together, Love is not going anywhere. " So, was the story of Esha Mehra and Rohan Sharma. . Esha Mehra, a quiet and an independent girl went for a contract marriage with Rohan Sharma, her boss as well as a man with good status and position, to save her father's life from cancer. The story is one the most fascinating story i came across so far. Every page urges a curiosity of what happens next. . The best part was that it covers few societal issues which every girl has to face during her wedding i.e. to look after her family after her marriage. This was the catchy part of the whole plot and inspiring and motivating too. . Now, coming on the book cover, its attractive and eye-catching. It has a beautiful combination of colors which portrays Love. The title of the book is very well-searched and perfectly suited. The language is simple and easy for the readers to grab. The narration is apt. The pace was good. The characters were put strong. I really like the character of "Esha Mehra".The way she took stand infront of his finacee was commendable and inspiring. . Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and will definitely recommend. Do give a try. One will definitely love it. .
Esha's life after encountering a drastic fall has her changed forever, until she meets Rohan. This story has three main characters in this tale which are Eesha, Rohan and her ex- fiance. When the world turned it's back on her after she losses her mother to a grievous disease which has now come for her father's life as well. She is then left with no hope to lead her life any further in this cruel world.
That's when she meets Rohan who had faith in her and brought her to the light encouraging her to stand on her own once again. One thing leading to another, will they be able to lead a happy life together by overcoming all the emotions they are going through or does destiny have something else in the store for her?
Will they hold on to their love?! Will they overcome the harsh reality by fighting their will against the density?!
Believe me this is one beautiful story, that will have you cherish every single being in and around you when you get to know how much they care about you.
The language is easy and flowy. The cover page is beautiful. The title is very appropriate . I loved both the leading characters, their friends and family went through the journey of the grief, happiness, hope, and love and I felt as if I was going through the same with them through each page of the book.

The writing is simple and it suits the theme taken into consideration. Loved the characterisation and their transformation is traceable. A fun filled read penned in a neat manner. Recommended to everyone.
Destined by Rubina Ramesh is a contemporary romance novel with a mixture of love, friendship, dreams, responsibilities, jealousy, tears of disappointment, tears of amazement, care, affection and kindness running across the book.
The story mainly revolves around Rohan Sharma, Esha Mehra and her ex fiancé. Losing her mother to cancer and the same dreadful disease which was now back to take her father, she was in desperate need of money for the treatment. When all her closed and loved ones refused to help for the treatment she stumbles upon Rohan Sharma who became her only ray of hope. Little did they know that destiny has already a plan for their lives.
The writing style is amazing and lucid which I appreciated a great deal because sometimes the authors tend to rush the stories by stuffing unwanted information. But thankfully that wasn't the case with this book. The story was weaved with so much potential and every plot was properly fleshed out and I finished it in just one sitting.
This book has it all, pain of broken hearts, a past of love and sweet memories and an unexpected present. A short, clean and wholesome read.
The book Destined is a story about How destiny places a crucial role in the life of Rohan and Esha.
The love-hate relationship, guessing each other response, the misunderstanding, the proposal all makes it an enjoyable read. The narration with both Character perspective sometimes pricked my heart. And I was just keeping my fingers crossed with nothing negative to happen. There was also a point where you could visualize the scenes happening in front of you
The language of the book is simple and easy going. The theme of the book is a romance revolving around contractual marriage. Even though the story or trope is a conventional one with multiple drama soaps/books based on it already, yet I enjoyed reading it till the very end. Not to mention that I completed it in one go!
Destined by Rubina Ramesh is a contemporary book with a blend of love, familial relationships, dreams, commitment, tears of shock, care and affection and liberality. I treasured the characters Esha and Rohan and besides Esha's dad, who despite his difficulty has a smile everywhere on his face. I had to pause for a minute to detest Ayush and his mom as well as Zaira. All the characters are quite obvious.
Loved the way wherein Esha has been portrayed as an extreme woman who understands her priorities. Besides being a socially skilled book, it moreover has the ideal proportion of interest, the ideal proportion of feeling and when you finish getting it, you get that impression of satisfaction that a carefully made book can give you.
The book disappointed me in the beginning with predictable storyline ( till chapter 5) . I found nothing remarkable but after chapter 6, the book picked up well with twists. I couldn't connect with Esha's character too. It was a weird and a confused character. It was immature at some places and mature enough at other places. I loved the character of Rohan. It was fully developed. Zaira has nothing much to do as well. I expected more of her role but she couldn't get much breathing space from authors.
I really enjoyed this book. What I liked most is that it is fast paced. Even though there are misunderstandings, the story does not drag on at a snail's pace. I liked the characters and even though there is sadness, I still found the story uplifting. Can't wait for more books from this author.
Destined by Rubina Ramesh It has become my favourite book by Ms. Ramesh. It struck a chord with me. Destined is the story of Esha's life. Book opens with Esha getting bad news about her father's illness, the same disease to which Esha has also lost her mother. During such trying times she turns to her fiancee for support but he doesn't oblige. When all hope is lost she finds a ray of hope in Rohan, her boss. He offers her money for treatment as a quid pro quo she has to marry him. Desperate Esha accepts the proposal and their journey together starts. That's basically is how the plot moves. Story is simple but characters are strong, especially Esha. She is not like the damsel in distress kind of heroine, she doesn't crib or cry she takes matters into her own hands. She is very clear with her goals. She knows what she wants and is willing to fight for it. Rohan helps her in times of her need but doesn't act like entitled prick he respects her. I really liked the fact that though book is romance but it focuses a lot on theme of duty. Duty which Esha has for her father, Rohan for Esha and vice versa. Author, while exploring romance between the two doesn't let main theme slip away which I felt made this book even stronger.
Destined by Rubina Ramesh is a contemporary romance novel with a mixture of love, friendship, responsibilities, care and affection etc running across the book. This is a wonderful book to read. She has effectively written this book. She has written this book from her daughters point of view.
Author Rubina Ramesh has subtly handled a very serious issue of a daughter’s responsibilities towards her parents and the Indian society’s regressive outlook on it. The woman has to choose between her responsibilities towards her parents and husband.
What I liked about the story was the way it addressed a very important social issue where a woman is not expected to take care of her parents after marriage.
Esha is the main protagonist in this story Destined. Esha has been portrayed as a strong woman who knows her priorities. She lost her Mom to cancer when she was young. Later when she was going to get married to her love Ayush, her childhood friend and support, her father is diagnosed with the same life-threatening ailment. But Esha has to make a choice; she has to choose between her father and Ayush who is indifferent towards her father’s health. He and his mother feel that it’s not Esha’s responsibility to take care of her father as she is the only daughter. Esha feels offended and upset about their insensitivity and ends her relationship with Ayush.
She meets Rohan Sharma, her boss, as well as a man with good status and position. To discuss an availing loan from the office, she is surprised when Rohan has different plans. He asks her to agree to a contractual marriage with him just for six months. He says that he will take care of her father’s medical expenses if she agrees to the marriage.
Though we say that daughters and sons are equal, I feel many women have to go through a lot of many other things. Rubina Ramesh has touched a very important topic of our society in this book, which was the catchy part of the whole plot and inspiring and motivating too.
The author has balanced romance, family and duty in this beautiful book.
What I loved most was the simple language and the fast pace of the book. The flow is so good that the reader is hooked into the book.
Rubina is testing us as readers instead of the reverse. She writes about topics subtly but brings about powerful thought process changes. Her writing evokes emotions and questions we seldom ask others or ourselves. Its a pleasure reading her books. She is on a writing spree is a relief. Her next book is soon to be launched.
What I liked: Emotions which well up inside you. Each chapter will evoke emotions. It starts with Anxious then Apprehension to Anger bubbling to Hope to Love struck to Peace and then HEA. Rubina is a wizard with a wand weaving emotions and words.
Characters though few stand strong playing their roles perfectly. What a child bears in his life is based on his parents karma, this concept makes the story. It is beautifully portrayed by the difference in the choices made by Esha's dad and Rohan's dad.
The language is so good and simple. It is making me prose eloquent.
The question: Should a daughter look after her parents post marriage, is well put within the story without it being beat to pulp repeatedly. Subtle introduction to topics, this is what I meant Rubina conquers.
I loved Esha's spunk and her blunt statements or questions. Beauty with brains and right amount of attitude. It suits her perfectly. Zaira's role is perfect too. I liked her remarks. Esha & Zaira both stand on the weighing scale by choosing to marry for money. Who wins?
Book : Destined Author: Rubina Ramesh Review: the book is of contemporary fiction romance genre. In the book Rohan Sharma, a self-made billionaire, saw Esha for the first time, he felt she was the one. The story highlights Esha character as strong and independent who doesn’t give a damn what anybody thinks about her. The story is a romantic drama which plays on your emotions very subtly , I like how the author has put these titbits in the story without making it overbearing Also I loved the descriptions in the story they allow you to paint a vivid picture of the scene in your mind. Play of words is nice and playful , overall tone of the story is light not heavy. The book weaves the story artistically, even though the plot is predictable the storyline keeps you hooked . The characterisation is apt and let’s you connect with them . The story tugs at your emotions on various levels. Language is lucid and easy and flows beautifully at no point do you get stuck on. It’s is a light read and can be enjoyed when you need an interesting book to steer you away from your reality. If you are a fan of this genre give this a try it won’t disappoint. 4/5
Destined by Rubina Ramesh is a story of young and beautiful Esha Mehra and her billionaire boss Rohan. It’s a sweet love story with a happily ever after. I loved the premise and the settings of the novel. The story is set in the city of Bangalore, though there was very little that we know about the city. I would love to read more about the Southern city of India. The smell, the weather, the people, and culture. There was nothing that could describe the true spirit of the IT city. However, the book flows well and the story is engaging. The characters of Rohan is not very well drawn but I found myself rooting for Esha. She emerges as a bold and confident woman. The story, in the beginning, felt predictable and more or less sounded like an alpha billionaire romance. However, it took a sudden unexpected turn with the introduction of Zaira Wadia, Rohan’s stepmother. Now, there’s a twist in the stepmother thing and I would like you to explore the book and find out who exactly Zaira Wadia is. The dialogues are well written and sounded typical as Indians speak and communicate. At the end, Rubina Ramesh’s Destined has everything in it. It has drama, intrigue, romance, and spicy love scenes. The book beautifully portrays the father-daughter bond. I loved the playful banter between the lead couples and their constant ego clashes felt like a chocolate icing on a creamy dessert. From me, the book can easily claim 4 stars.
