Bad Neighbors is the second book in the Agnes & Effie Mystery series. Agnes had a serious falling out with her former fiance in book 1 (he left her for a sexy pilates instructor) and found herself not only heart-broken but homeless. So she joined forces with her Aunt Effie, a feisty older gal, to restore the Stagecoach Inn. The old place has seen many, many better days....

Agnes & Effie have cleaned the inside of the old Victorian. In fact it's spotless. But they are just starting to gaug

This book was so funny and entertaining! I just loved the seniors who were staying at the inn, affectionately known as "the gaggle" when Agnes would have to take them all somewhere. Once I started reading, I just couldn't put it down! Well written with lots of humor and some very fun and likable characters. I hadn't read the first book but I never felt lost even once reading this one.

When a busload of senior citizens has their bus break down during a leaf-peeping excursion in Naneda, NY, Agnes a

Bad Neighbors by Maia Chance is the 2nd book in An Agnes and Effie Mystery Series, and it is even better than the 1st book, Bad Housekeeping. Agnes and her Aunt Effie rush to find the real killer when Agnes love interest Otis is accused of killing one of his employees. You have to love the names in this book, which takes place in Naneda, New York. Not only is this book really funny, it has a great mystery also. The development of the story and characters are so well written. The story is also hi ...more

It's leaf peeping season in Naneda and the leaves aren't the only things dying in town! Agnes and Effie aren't through getting their B&B open when they have their first "customers". A tour bus of leaf peepers breaks down at the local garage owned by Otis, Agnes' boyfriend. But when a mechanic is discovered dead at the garage Agnes starts to investigate to try to keep her boyfriend out of jail. Clearing his name will be tougher than she thought and it seems Agnes is in more danger than she ba ...more

The second book in this series and a new author to me. I found and good Plot that was slightly different from the usual cozy mastery. The characters different not development and I didn't relate to them. I have not read the first book but had no trouble following the story and the characters.
Agnes Blythe has returned back to her childhood home and has joined her Great Aunt Eddie's in restoring an Inn that once been a slice of pride in Naneda, New York. The inn needs a lot of work and is not open

I really enjoyed the first book in Maia Chance’s “An Agnes and Effie Mystery” series, so I was looking forward to her follow up. Well, “Bad Neighbors” did not disappoint! I enjoy the relationship between Agnes (the younger of the dynamic duo) and her aunt Effie. This looks to be one fun and entertaining team of amateur sleuths. I enjoy the setting and cannot wait until they have the Stagecoach Inn fully restored. What with all the antiques and goodies Effie is buying, it sounds like the Inn will ...more

Bad Neighbors by Maia Chance is the second book in the Agnes and Effie series and was set during "leaf peeping" season. This was an enjoyable addition to this series and can easily be read as a standalone.

Ms. Chance has taken the opportunity in this book to develop the characters in more depth which I enjoyed. Agnes is smart but still undecided about staying in Naneda. Agnes has low self-esteem which pops up often throughout the book but it doesn't stop her from investigating the murder with oft

It’s leaf season in Naneda and things are happening at the Stagecoach Inn. Who knew how well their guests would fit in with Aunt Effie and Agnes. Seniors are the best! What a delightful bunch of folks! I just love Aunt Effie and poor Agnes, I don’t think she could stay out of trouble if she tried. I must say I am impressed with her carpenter skills. What an interesting story this was. You never knew when you were going to be thrown a little twist. From murder to spa days to parades, buckle up an ...more

A cute little cozy mystery. The main character Agnes is interesting and likable. She is renovating an Inn with her Aunt Effie. There is an eccentric group of tourists staying at the Inn, who help Agnes and Effie solve the latest murder. They add a lot of comic relief. The local cupcake baker, Delilah is the nemesis that you love to hate. Not only is she rude, but she is after Otis, Agnes' love interest! The book proceeds at a good pace, and the mystery makes sense. Overall this was a good read.

Bad Neighbors by Maia Chance is a book so full of surprises you won't want to put it down.
What could be better than leaf-peeping season in Naneda, New York?
According to Agnes Blythe and her Aunt Effie, it doesn't get much better than this. Repairing and renovating the Stagecoach Inn is high priority, but when a tour bus breaks down, the inn becomes home for a few stranded tourists.

I enjoyed this book so much, I had to purchase the first in the series, Bad Housekeeping.

Series: An Agnes and Effie Mystery #2

Welcome to the picturesque small town of Naneda in upstate New York for the foliage viewing season. The town is filled with funny, quirky and unique residents who will become some of your favorite book friends. BAD NEIGHBORS, the second book in the Agnes and Effie Mystery Series, is a hoot! Even though I have not read the fist in the series, BAD HOUSEKEEPING, I had no trouble diving right into the story. Chance’s writing style and her ability to craft zany characters and hilarious situations makes BAD NEIGHBORS a joy to read. The pace is quick, and the steady revelation of clues lends itself of compulsive reading. Highly recommended!

I loved this book! I was initially attracted to the series because it is set in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York, about 2 1/2 hours from where I live. The area is known for its wines, particularly Rieslings, and apple farming. So when a tour bus of "Leaf Peepers" finds that they are stranded in Naneda with no available lodging, Agnes and her Aunt Effie are asked to take them into their unfinished bed and breakfast. They don't have an occupancy certificate so they can't charge any mone ...more

This is the second Agnes and Effie Mystery and let me tell you, it was just as good as the first one Bad Housekeeping. I do believe this is now my favorite series of cozy mysteries. Agnes and Effie are hilarious. Some of the situations they get themselves into are laugh out loud. In Bad Neighbors, Effie is going ahead with renovations of the Stage Coach Inn when she gets a call from a broken down motor coach needing some accommodations for their stranded passengers. Bad Neighbors earns 5/5 Leaf Peeping Tours…Murderously Fun!

I have changed my newbie status to big fan! Maia Chance made it easy to join in by revisiting enough background and character connections without spoilers, but it's only book two, so she is developing the series and evolving lead and supporting characters for the long haul. The storyline is delightful with Agnes Blythe helping her Great Aunt Effie restore the Stagecoach Inn, and although the Inn isn't ready for guests, they decide to be

I really enjoyed this novel! It was the first book I have read from the author, Maia Chance, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy family-oriented cozy mysteries!

A fun mystery, with some humor right at the start such as when Agnes asked her Aunt Effie if she was insane. She started to say no and that several people had asked that.

Agnes and Chester were renovating an old house. The architect asked if they had any experience and they said no, but they watch a lot of H.G.T.V. Ha, ha! Me too. I liked how Agnes really got into doing the renovations. She found that it made her feel good, especially when she tore up the floor.

I enjoyed the scenes with the rival

Agnes and Effie are at it again. When Mikey is murdered and it looks like Agnes's potential boyfriend is the suspect, she and her Aunt Effie begin to investigate. Since it is also festival time, and the town wants to look good for the judge sent in to decided if their town festival is best, there are additional complexities.

I received this book as an arc so I ordered book one and read that first. I loved this book. There's the bond between Agnes and her aunt Effie which closely resembles the bond between my niece Bella and myself. While she's more of the fashionista like aunt Effie and I'm the t-shirt and jeans Agnes. I really liked that Agnes is a skinny girl but a plump woman who still has two men fighting for her. This series is a comedic hoot! You have an aunt who is elderly, but don't tell her that! A cousin who is genius level IQ, talented carpenter and completely lost when it comes to social skills and then there is Agnes. Again, quite intelligent, eats her way through every day and completely insecure in who she is and yet rather than finding it annoying, you still like her. This particular story finds the trio still trying to renovate the Inn, trying to fit into the town, taking on a group of strand ...more

I was laughing from the get-go. The second book in the series is a definite recommendation. Agnes Blythe is becoming one of my favorite amateur sleuths. Maia Chance does a great job creating dialogue between her many characters. In the first book, Agnes’ aunt – Effie (I love her!) – has been left the Stagecoach Inn and Effie, Agnes, and her cousin Chester are working hard to renovate and restore it so they can be up and running. In this book, the renovations are coming along and Agnes is now liv ...more

When her maybe boyfriend, Otis, is accused of murder, she's determined to prove him innocent. I liked Agnes. She may consider herself a nerd. I really enjoyed this book; much more than the first one. There are still a lot of characters to try and keep track of, but I found it easier this time around to remember who was who. Agnes is a hilarious character who gets into such impossible [and almost unbelievable] situations that you just have to shake your head at it all and her aunt adds such a fun aspect to the stories.
