⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Interlude, book 2 of 2. Lina is swept into a web of seduction, secrets & deception by the mysterious Julian Caine!

“Julian Caine is an enigma my heart longs to unravel.”

Books in The Interlude Duet should be read in order:
Book 1: Prelude
Book 2: Interlude

In Prelude, book 1 soundtrack composer Evangelina Darling James, Lina. was at a fork in the road. Her sixteen-year relationship with her fiancé had stagnated into more of a roommate situation. Enter her long-lost childhood friend venture capitalist and heir Julian M.R. Caine, J.C. When Lina found herself single, Julian offered her one night of endless fucking.

Interlude, book 2 opens up to the aftermath of book 1’s shocking ending. Lina is swept into Julian’s game of seduction that she is ill-equipped to handle. It’s a roller-coaster of mixed messages, mystery, secrets, jealousy, manipulation, lies, betrayal and ultimately truths in a love that borders on obsession.

Nine words to describe Julian M.R. Caine, J.C.: Aloof, blunt, enigmatic, dirty-talker, elusive, complex, intense, non-committal and larger-than-life.

Seven words to describe Evangelina Darling James, Lina: Loyal, indecisive, non-confrontational, reflective, resilient, confused and trusting.

Interlude, is a sexy, hot-cold and unpredictable affair and unfolding mystery courtesy sex-on-a-stick Julian Caine. It starts off from Lina’s POV, allowing Julian to remain an enigma, but will shift to Julian’s POV for shocking revelations; the very best in character development, sizzling sex and intriguing plot with the right doze of angst and shockers. Story ends perfectly with an epilogue several years into the future.

Okay so first off you MUST read book 1 - Prelude first before reading this book. Definitely not a standalone.

Wow!!! The author has absolutely nailed it with the conclusion to this story. I was up reading til 2.30am as I had to know the outcome for these characters. This is only her second book and the writing is clear, powerful and really emotional. I felt like I was on a roller coaster from the opening chapter. This book has got it all -

Angsty/emotional storyline ✅
Characters you connect with ✅
Beautiful imagery and dialogue ✅
Crazy hot sexy times that might melt your kindle ✅
Plot twists that had me shouting OH MY GOD!!! ✅
Awesome supporting characters ✅
and
One of my favourite epilogues of all time ✅

I loved everything about this story and was so happy with the conclusion to this duet. I cannot recommend it enough. Looking forward to lots more words from this new author.

I received an arc of this book

This is not a standalone and you will need to read Prelude before this to understand the story.

WOW....I always have a hard time writing a review but when a book captures you from the moment you start to read, well that makes it even harder for me. Once I started this I did not want to put it down and I almost finished it within a day. Due to life and other things I had to put it down at 86% and finish it in the early morning hours the next day before work.

There have only been a couple of books that sent my emotions on a rollercoaster soo much that I physically felt like my heart was breaking at times for Lina and Julian in this one. I laughed and cried throughout the book. This Duet will be one of my all time favorites and will definitely be a re-read in the near and distant future.

What would you do when your childhood best friend offers you 1 month or an Interlude to spend everyday together, but no promise of the future? This was the choice Lina had to make knowing she would possibly not have the future she really wants and has waited for.

I could go on and on but then I would be telling you the story and you need to read this duet for yourself. I can't wait for more books from this author in the future as she will definitely be and absolute One-Click for me!!

*Please read Prelude, Book 1, first*

What a stunning conclusion of this beautiful duet! This book hit every emotion possible. There was a great balance of romance, steam, humor, and angst. My heart shattered for the characters, then it got put back together, then it got bruised, only to be healed by the last 2 chapters and the Epilogue. The character development was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the characters grow and change. The writing is wonderful. I absolutely, HIGHLY recommend this book!

How in the actual hell did this book get so many 5 stars reviews? I don't get it. It was worse than the first one and believe you me, that one wasn't anywhere near 5 stars worthy.
Where the first book had at least some ideas and storylines of its own, this one was full of the same dreadful stuff that was featured in the 50 Shades. I mean the same damn plot turns.
The most painful thing about this book though was constant repetition. Over and over again, the same thought or sentiment was sucked dry of any meaning by forcing itself down our throats. The less is more, that's the key to writing an emotional scene. Subtlety. Finesse. It might have saved my head from banging it against the table so many times.
I'm too pissed to talk about the other things I hated here so I'm just gonna stop now. And I really don't like to leave hateful reviews so you see how frustrated this book made me.

Interlude will bring on so many emotions as you read this book. You will find yourself cheering for Lina and Julian and sometimes yelling at the book, as though they can hear you.

Lina and Julian start up where it ends in Prelude and though I loved Prelude, I lust after this particular book and the journey it takes the reader on after becoming invested in book one.

The reality of this book is that people find themselves in love two different people. This is where we find Lina. No doubt her heart belongs to Julian but her history belongs to Andrew. But in Lina’s mind, she wonders who can handle her heart better, who will be gentle with it and who will split it wide open.

However, the book gives us understanding too, into why Julian is the way he is. For me, Julian is absolutely swoon worthy and the indecisions of Lina is really some of the same insecurities most women face.

You will want to read this duet! It will leave a place in your heart, just like Julian did in Lina’s heart so long ago.

Interlude is Book Two In The Interlude Duet this is not a Standalone.
Auden Dar is a talented new Author who has become one of my favorites. Her writing is impeccable, you connect with the characters and feel their emotions.
This book continues where Prelude left us.
From there we go on an emotional rollercoaster that is Lina and Julian, you will get frustrated, angry, curse and laugh. Their chemistry and love is undeniable. Can true love avail or will Lina choose Andrew because he's a comfortable habit.

5 BEAUTIFUL ANGSTY STARS!! I love love love this duet, it has all the feels and more. I finally got my emotions in check to write my review. This story is a beautifully written tug of war of emotions. The story is full of angst and emotion driven from page one to the last word. It is hard to believe that this is only the second book by Auden Dar, it reads like a seasoned author. Do yourself a favor and read this duet you will love it too. Auden has blown me away once again with her beautiful writing. she has away of pulling my heart strings. this story was remarkable and unforgettable. loved the characters much better in interlude then I did in prelude and I loved the heck out of that book. I highly recommend reading this book. I can't wait to read more from her.

Interlude picks up exactly where Prelude left off. Lina wakes up in Julian's bed, with only a note. Her heart broken, once more, she leaves and proceeds to spend the next several days overthinking every single detail.
I think Lina's main problem was that she had spent the last 16 years with Andrew, and he had not intentionally hurt her confidence, but gradually over the years, it started being chipped away. And so now Lina is so in her own head, that she doesn't realize what is right in front of her.
Lina and Julian end up seeing each other again, because of a family emergency that brings them all together, and Julian propositions Lina again. Only not just for a night, but for the month that he is in the states helping his dad recover.

- This heart refuses to forget him. When I dress in the morning. When I sip my coffee. When I watch dogs in the park. When I’m eating a cupcake. When I’m running errands. -

And I wish we all had a Roger when we are going through breakups. Because I love how he doted on Lina. He and Patti are such good friends to Lina. Its not the number of friends you have but the number you can count on. And Lina is blessed with great friends.
-You needed this to happen. You needed to feel alive. You needed to feel anything extraordinary-

There is no denying how Julian truly feels for Lina, but because she has been neglected by Andrew in the past, her insecurities do not allow her to see what is right in front of her. Its bittersweet.

Lina, everything you do gives me goosebumps.- Julian
Julian, that was corny-Lina

"If you had taken the time, to let me know what I was doing wrong, maybe how you wanted me to be, just something,. I waited for months for a sign. Anything to make me feel like you knew I even existed. I was a ghost for so long. You stopped looking at me, Andrew. You stopped wanting me, loving me. You pretty much pushed me out of your life. And when I left, you didn’t even bother to chase after me". - Lina

This was an awesome ending to the Interlude Duet. I absolutely adored Julian and Mugpie. The secondary characters were awesome. I think Grandma Del Campo, gave some of the best advice after having lunch with Julian and Lina.
"It’s all in the details. The decor, the service, and the food were spectacular. It was decadent yet very deserving. That’s the way a lover should be."
Sound advice, beautiful really. The way that she worded it. Made it visual.

"Evangelina, dear. Andrew was your first love and a great friend to you. But when you were with him, you were so, shall I say uptight"- Grandmother Del Campo

I love that in Lina's never ending inner dialogue, she acknowledges that Julian says that everything he does is for her. But she is left thinking he slept with Shira after he left her the morning after they were together the first time. So in her head she is asking Julian. if you do every thing for me, did you fuck her for me too. I laughed so hard! I wish she could have been that spunky outside of her head, but I understand why she wasn't.

I absolutely LOVED that we got a bit from Julian's POV. I think that was my absolute favorite.

I’m the 7 year old boy who fell in love with Lina James. I’m the 12 year old boy who had asked his mom for her engagement ring. When you are ready, this will be yours to give the girl I also love.

We also got a bit of Andrew's Point of view.

I loved how everything wrapped up. It made such a sweet picture.

I’m suspecting that many who review this book will delve on the relationship of the three main characters, Lina, Julian and Andrew, again, as happened in Prelude, as to the pain, the torture, the love, the feels (wink, wink), and the mystery. I totally get that, cause there was a lot going on in this story. The thing I want to touch on regarding that is there were several moments I wanted to strangle each one at different times. I seriously wanted to slap each one. That being said, you would think I didn’t like this book. That would be inaccurate. See, I find that this is what makes this story real. We get frustrated, angry, stupid, prejudge, suffer in silence and think people are mind readers, instead of saying what we really feel or mean. The author captured all of this and drew us into the convoluted lives of these people. So much was done in the name of silence. I seriously was hollering to myself at times. So even though I was frustrated while reading I realized this is what people really do. So to the author, mission accomplished!

I also admire how Lina’s love of music was able to weave it’s way into her life in a major way. How she took her love and actually made a career of it the way she wanted to work and not the way situations dictate. The author puts a tremendous focus on background music and how it affects a story line. Music is a staple in mood reflection Some of the most poignant moments for me were when she referenced certain music selections to relate to her life. Who hasn’t referenced maybe, Stronger”, by Kelly Clarkson and the Script’s, (“When a Heartbreaks, no it don’t”) “Breakeven”, during a breakup of any kind. Whether people realize it or not background and soundtrack music play a major influence when watching movies, television, and plays. It has a subconscious affect on how you feel. This happens in real life as well. The author must know quite a bit about this, or she just loves music!

I promise you I’m not giving away any of the story just some details of how it affected me.
I was surprised at the ending and surprise in a book is usually a good thing. Not sure if there will be a next book or breakout in this series but if there is I will be very interested in reading it.

4.5 stars.

You need to read Prelude before starting Interlude. This is a continuation of Lina’s story and starts where Prelude finished.

My review is going to be vague due to possible spoilers.

When we last saw Lina she was left reeling. Now she’s trying to pick the pieces up and figure out how to carry on. Hurt by two of the most important men in her life, she’s understandably left confused from recent events. Just as she starts moving forward, her life is yet again disrupted and she has some tough choices to make.

I loved Lina in Prelude but she started irritating me a little in this book. The way she was so easily placated when asking for answers annoyed me at times. I’m a very inquisitive person so I found it hard to understand why she was so easily distracted and so forgiving when it comes to Julian, and even though she eventually gets those answers, she niggled at me a little with her bury her head in the sand attitude. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t sympathetic to her because I was. She’s a very sweet, likeable woman and it was easy to put myself in her situation and feel how conflicted she was.

Julian is a secretive man. His actions don’t always match his feelings and I admit he left me feeling just as confused as Lina at times. Slowly his secrets are revealed and I couldn’t help but love him that little bit more after getting a glimpse of the real Julian.

I think the surprise for me in this book was Andrew. In Prelude everything about him bored me, his personality, his dress sense and don't even get me started on his 'finesse' in the bedroom *insert the worlds biggest eye roll here*. He annoyed me so much with his selfish, blasé attitude.... I’m shocked but Ms Dar somehow managed to change my opinion of Andrew in Interlude and made me into a fan of his.

I knew after reading Prelude that Auden Dar was an author to keep my eye on and this book shows I was right. It’s got the perfect balance of romance, angst, secrets and hot chemistry. The characters grow and mature throughout the story and Lina is very easy to relate to throughout both these books.

If you haven’t read this duet yet I urge you to try them. A really enjoyable, unputdownable sweet, hot romance that I loved. I can’t wait for more from this author.

I loved jullian became all demanding and alpha in this book. Also how bunch of secrets you could never think of are also revealed. You will just want more as do not after finishing interlude. Thank you Auden introducing these amazing characters to us.

After reading Prelude (which if you haven't read it yet, do it now! You MUST read it before starting this one)....I was looking forward to the 2nd part of the duet, and I was not disappointed at all! I was completely hooked from the beginning and couldn't stop reading until I had finished Lina & Julian's story. And let me tell you, it was one heck of a ride that I enjoyed every minute of! Plenty of romance, friendship, love, drama, angst........really, this book will take you through every emotion possible. It was just so well-written, that it's hard to believe that this is only the second book from this author. Give it a chance - you won't be disappointed!

I had been dying to read this one since I first finished Prelude! I had so many questions, so much curiosity regarding Julian and his past and just what he could be hiding but oh my god I was not expecting this!!!
I adored Prelude but Interlude was way better, if you've read Prelude you're in for a treat with this one! So much happened, so many freaking revelations and just a whole jumble of emotions. It was seriously so good! Specially that ending oh my god! I loved loved that ending. It was brilliant!

I don't wanna spoil the plot for you so I'm not touching that. But just know that it might get frustrating because Lina has a lot of issues due to Julian having left her, not once but twice and also the whole issue with Andrew, so yeah she's very insecure and has no idea what to do most of the time regarding both Julian and Andrew.

At some point in the book, I was so damn frustrated with her, I wanted to scream. You'll know when if you read this. I can't explain otherwise I'm spoiling your asses big time. Seriously though that part was so frustrating but then what happened after that and those last 5-6 chapters made up for the whole thing. I'm still high on those last chapters, and they weren't necessarily happy but they explained a lot and give you an insight to what's still going to be explained in future books, like Andrew's!

Let's talk Andrew for a second.. I hated him in the first book, for real, I thought he was a douche and that she should leave his ass high and dry and never look back. However, Auden in this book totally redeemed Andrew for me and I seriously don't know how she could do that. But I absolutely loved Andrew (again: how???), I really did. I felt really bad for him, once he apologized and explained things. My heart hurt for him! And the epilogue OMG, loved loved it so much. I need his book STAT! I need him to be happy, and be over Lina and maybe be with you'll know who from the epilogue. I totally feel a forbidden romance coming our way, hmm can't wait!!!

I highly recommend you pick up this duet up if you haven't read Prelude yet, and if you did then you definitely need to read Interlude. It's so good and you get all your questions answered, and then are left with more questions that you'll be dying to know the answers too.

For real, this book was great, you get to feel it all, the heartbreak, the frustration, the doubt, the grief, the heat, the love, everything! It was amazing! If you liked Julian in the first book, you're gonna die over the real, the true, the naked Julian Caine. He is so darn sweet and has overcome so much. His past is just insane and you'll understand everything that has happened in the first book and during this one. God damn, he's truly amazing! I just loved him!

What a great ending to this duet! I absolutely loved the first book, Prelude. It was one of my favorite books of 2017. Interlude did not disappoint. There were so many secrets that were revealed that you wouldn’t expect. One of the things I loved most about these books is the music. It’s the soundtrack of the story. It was prevalent in Prelude but I felt it was even more so in Interlude. The relationship between Julian and Lina was so intense and the music helped to portray that intensity. I really want to reread it and play the songs that are mentioned at the appropriate times. I can’t even imagine the emotions that would evoke. Music has a huge impact on people’s lives. It can take you back to the best and worst times of your life. This book is an excellent illustration of this. Do not miss this book! And if you haven’t read it yet, pick up the first book, Prelude, first!

What can I say about book 2 of this duet? It was completely satisfying, completely heartbreaking and completely freaking AWESOME!! Book one was great, but book two will knock your socks off.

I found it difficult to believe this was Auden's first crack at writing. She's mastered so much already, this author will have a very long career ahead of her.

Make sure you pick up this duet.

I loved this book.

Interludes begin with a roller coaster of emotions that leave you breathless. I felt everything that Lina was feeling. I was finally satisfied with her thoughts, reactions and feelings. She takes the time to thinkg everything that went down and decides to take a breath and take it one day at a time, to start living again and moving on from the past.

And when she is managing just fine, forceful events turn things upside down again. And Julian is back in her life. As these two spend more and more time together, their relationship takes on a new level. There are feelings that they need to explore and conversations they need to have. And their chemistry once again makes a great presence, stronger than ever, proving that the bond they share is more that the connection they shared when they were young.

I loved getting character development for Julian and Lina. On one hand, Julian needs to prove himself trustworthy and faithful. Lina needed to learn how to embrace her true self and speak up when she needs to. Of course, this doesn't happen overnight and there are a lot of discussions, internal monologues and battles to get through it. A journey with ups and downs, with falls in old habits and communication problems.

I loved how they when they are with each other, they show their true selves because they know each other better than anyone and the bond between them is really powerful. And as their relationship continues to grow, mysteries are unraveled and start to give sense to the story.

Although I wanted to, once again, hit the characters on the head so I could knock some reason into them to stop the angst surrounding us, I understood their inner battles and the need to end some cycles.

Beautiful and raw.

This book is truly a phenomenal read! I loved Prelude and I couldn’t wait to read this book to see if my many questions were answered. Yes, my questions have been answered. I highly, highly recommend this for everyone over eighteen! This book will take you on a roller coaster ride along with Lina. Lina is a remarkable woman, but there are times when I wanted to wring her neck. Actually, a few of the characters needed their necks wrung at times, but everything happens for a reason. I really believe that everyone can relate to the feelings Lina experiences and those feelings are what make us the people we are. Your emotions will be all over the place, at least mine were. I laughed, I cried, I celebrated, and I loved. I won’t leave any spoilers, so please grab your copy and see who truly has Lina’s heart and gives her a HEA! I can’t wait to read more books from Auden Dar!

This book broke my heart a little at a time. Then put it back together. I am writing this with tears still in my eyes. Julian and Lina have such a passionate relationship that you can not help but love them and root for them. Andrew is not always the stick in the mud that he seems to be. Poor Lina seems to cry all the time from the torment in her heart. She loves two men and doesn't know which way is up. I love that Auden put the future from Andrews POV. I was actually worried about him. Do Not Miss this duet I promise you will regret it of you do.

Jumping right into this book after finishing Prelude, I was desperate for Julian and Lina to figure their relationship out. Julian prove to be a bit stalkerish, but it also showed that he never left Lina. He always loved her and he was desperate for her to finally be his.

Lina was desperate in this one too, making one too many rash decisions for my liking, but in the end she understood what her choice was (or wasn't because really there was no competition).

I loved the epilogue. I'm hoping we get a story out of that because that is one I'd really like to read.

Interlude is Book 2 of the Interlude Duet. You MUST read Prelude (Book 1) first.

I also recommend that you do not read this review, as it may contain spoilers from Prelude.

Interlude starts right where Prelude ended. Lina is heartbroken that Julian has returned to London without a word. Lina is unsure if she will ever hear from Julian again, or if it will be years like before.

Unforeseen and urgent circumstances bring Julian back to New York City, and right back into Lina's life.

Julian offers another arrangement to Lina, this one longer than one night, but is it forever?

I really enjoyed watching Lina grow as a character. It was a bumpy road for her, and was difficult at times to read, but necessary to have the story end how it did. Roles reverse very subtly in this novel, almost imperceptibly. That made the story all the more enjoyable and added a depth to it that is amazing.

Julian is still Julian. He does not disappoint! The HAF dirty talker that I came to love in Prelude is back ladies!

I can not recommend this debut duet enough!

This is the conclusion to Julian and Lina's story. In a lot of ways I was very angry with the choices and things that Lina ignored because she wanted to feel alive. I understand as a adult woman the trials and fears we have I'm relationships, settling and wasting our lives on complacency. But I could not help but resent her blind eye to red flags. I admit that I I'd enjoy the story as a whole and i was very pleased to see Julian's secrets revealed and his love for Lina finally revealed. I felt though that some of the twists needed more detail and explanation. I also felt that certain items could have just been avoided fully and they took away from the story of Julian and Lina. I do admit that one part of this story completely choked me up and the epilogue was beautiful and I hope to see Andrew again. I loved the setup there.
I'm going to give this book 3.5 stars I struggled with Lina's decisions and actions but I did truly enjoy the heart of the story and I was happy with the ending.

Just like Prelude, which I read in one day, I started Interlude and well, went right into the next day to finish! I couldn’t put it down. I was full of emotions-from angst to frustration to high and lows to indecisions and revelations. I felt strongly for these characters.

Julian truly has deep feelings for Lina and he was an enigma to me until I understood him better. Lina is so much in her thoughts she fails to see what is right in front of her. I empathized with her because in some ways I reflected on my own inner thinking..it was relatable to some degree.

I loved every bit of this story. And that epilogue had me in tears!

“I’ll always love you. And I’ll always be grateful for our interlude.”

Thank you Auden Dar for a beautiful heartfelt story!
