Book received from both Netgalley and Kindle Press for an honest review

This is the second book I've read by this author, though the first I saw in my wanderings. Spotted it on Netgalley in a 'Read Now' section. Investigated GoodReads to see what people thought of the book, didn't get far as I spotted that this was the second in a series; wandered over to first book, spotted it was a Kindle Unlimited book - investigated it, tried sample, sample turned into acquiring the KU book and reading it, wh

What a truly engrossing read! The prose is excellently written, the pacing is just right, and the HEA is hard won and well deserved! I loved my introduction to Michelle Willingham’s work and definitely look forward to reading more from her. This was a real can’t-put-it-down book and I definitely have to go back and read the first book in the series now!

Lily Thornton has loved Matthew Larkspur, Earl of Arnsbury, for a long time. When her father

C+ at AAR, so 3.5 stars Good Earls Don’t Lie was one of my favorite books of 2016, so I jumped at the chance to get my hands on the second book in Michelle Willingham’s The Earls Next Door series, What the Earl Needs Now. This novel tells the story of what happens when Lily Thornton, sister of the preceding book’s heroine, finally gets what she has been longing for. She has long loved Matthew Larkspur, Earl of Arnsbury, in secret, and he disappeared in India not long after they secretly wed. ...more

I loved the first book in this series, so I was eagerly anticipating the next installment where Lily is finally reunited with her lost love! It was a difficult book to get through at times, due to the serious nature of the hero's PTSD, but it was also hard to put down as I wanted to see how they overcame their struggles as a couple. The ups and downs made for a realistic, engaging romance.

Lily Thornton has been waiting two years to be reunited with Matthew Larkspur, the Earl of Arnsbury, who she

What the Earl Needs Now by Michelle Willingham is Book Two in the "Earls Next Door" Series. This is the story of Lily Thornton and Matthew Larkspur the Earl of Arnsbury. I have read the previous book in this series but feel this is easily a standalone book. Lily has loved Matthew since she was young. Matthew is her brother James (James Thornton the Earl of Penford) best friend. When Matthew was getting ready to leave for India he married Lily in front of a priest and they had their one night But ...more

”I read this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review “

“What the Earl Needs Now” is quite an interesting novel that tells the story of a woman in love with a man despite all odds. He was her childhood sweetheart, her brother’s best friend, her most loyal confidant and protector, both of her and of her brother. When said brother has a conflict with their father, he decides to go in and adventure in India. So sudden is this decision that Matthew, the hero of the novel, who is older than t

I read this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the second book in the series. It can be read as a stand alone. This is the first book I have read written by Michelle Willingham.

I was intrigued by the author tackling PTSD due to war/ torture. The hero, Matthew travels to India with his best friend and is taken hostage. Before he leaves, he secretly marries the heroine, his best friend's sister Lily. He escapes and 2 years later returns to London haunted from what has happ

There were times when What The Earl Needs Now was emotionally difficult to read. A couple who marry in secret before he leaves for another country is emotional in the first place – add into that the man’s capture by a rebel faction, held hostage, tortured and eventually rescued, and you have a man who has been through the deepest levels of hell. Throughout this story I kept envisioning how PTSD is viewed and treated in our time… I cannot imagine the misunderstanding

After being captured & tortured in India, Matthew can hardly return to a normal existence. He cannot sleep at night nor eat, and he knows he is not the man Lily needs no matter how much he feels better when she is near.

I really enjoyed "What the Earl Needs Now" by Michelle Willingham which was sweet and romantic. Matthew left to follow Lily's brother to India two years ago. Now he is back, but he is a shell of himself. He was tortured and beaten, and has trouble remembering anything but the torment. Lily is broken hearted that the man she loves, who she waited two years for, has returned but doesn't seem to know her. And doesn't care to know her.
Matthew and Lily pledged themselves to each other before he left

OMG you guys, this one nearly broke my heart and thank god it was all set to rights because my heart broke for Lily and Matthew.

I have read a few of Michelle's books and i have always enjoyed them very much. This one is no different and it was pretty much amazing!

It is really a huge emotional journey we go through with both Lily and Matthew and I found myself quite a lot invested in their happiness and progress really when it comes the Matthew.

I read this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. What the Earl Needs Now is the second book in Michelle Willingham’s Earls next door series. I had not read the first book Good Earls don’t Lie prior to reading this one so I think it can be read on its own. The sizzle factor is very hot. Lily Thornton and Matthew Larkspur the Earl of Arnsbury do not have an easy journey to HEA. They pledged to each other before Matthew left for India with Lily’s brother James but now 2 years later Ma ...more

This is an emotional, captivating, romantic and suspenseful story. The twists in the story are dramatic and intriguing. Matthew is a charming, amusing and kind man who came back from India broken. Lily is an independent woman with a big heart who has been in love with Matthew for years. The relationship starts off very strained, then over time they start to revert to their comfortable and caring relationship. And they are very funny together. Matthew's storyline is cruel and heartbreaking. Sever ...more

This was an interesting historical romance. You're introduced to the characters and see them separate quite quickly. The reunion is not a typical one due to Matthew's PTSD. The journey that you take with Lily and Matthew is definitely unforgettable. I wish their love story hadn't been so very quick at the beginning. However, I enjoyed it and will look out for more books from this author.

This is a heart-wrenching story of deep friendship, unfathomable love, reprehensible betrayal, mental illness, manic depression, family bond, inconceivable greed, unwav

There are times Lily pays matthew no mind, “that is my shirt you’ve used as a towel,” he felt compelled to point out. She dried off the kitten until it resembled a knotted ball of damp fuzz. Then she held him out..." I loved this book, Lily was very persistent, and Matthew was just a stubborn man.

Lily Thornton has loved Mathew Larkspur the Earl of Arnsbury for the longest time. So much so that she convinced him to marry her to fend of a suitor her father had wanted her to marry. Leaving for India they have one night together.
Although the marriage was in secret with a vicar there was no marriage licence.

Two years later, on the same day, her father tells her that he has accepted an offer for her hand in marriage to Lord Davonshire and her brother tells them that he is leaving to sail to India to seek adventure and that Matthew was accompanying him (to keep an eye on him, as he had a premonition of danger). I love to read books from Michelle's series. They will take you in different directions. This really worked in this book! Lily loved Matthew from a little girl. James is her brother and he ran away to India with Matthew. They got into a bad problem! Major Spoiler! Matthew was tortured, James rescued him and brought him home. Lily runs to Matthew and he pushes her away. He hides away but she still cares. Now Lily has another problem. Her mother broke down when her husband died. Now she falls into ...more

This was an enthralling story. Matthew and Lily were two strong characters and they certainly needed to be . The trials of Matthew were not for the faint hearted and Lily was steadfast and loyal. I loved the part, Sebastian, the dog played. To add to the drama, there was an evil and conniving villain, who I must say I thought was treated quite lightly. I must admit I wanted to see the villain suffer! There was also the effect of dementia , not only on the person but also the family, which was ve ...more

I have been so excited to read Michelle Willingham new book and it did not disappoint. The story is about Lily Thornton who has waited two years for her husband to return, the Earl of Arnsbury. But he does not remember her at all. He was tortured in India, Matthew Larkspur feels he can't return and make Lily's life horrible. This was an amazing read and it pulled me into the character I could feel how they both were feeling.

I loved this book from beginning to end. It was filled with so much emotion and feels. The love between Matthew and Lily was so obvious even when Matthew tried to push Lily away from him. They both go through different struggles throughout the book but they ultimately never give up on each other.
